So we ordered the Escape XLT on May 31 and it finally arrived on July 30. The dealer said that the company that used to deliver the vehicles had a system that allowed them to track the progress of the orders in great detail. Unfortunately that company went under and the new company doesn't offer the same detailed tracking so they had no idea that it was arriving when it showed up. First impressions: I love it. The new automatic tranny is great. The new 4 cylinder engine seems to pack plenty of punch. I haven't quite figured out the Sync system yet but I think I'm gonna love it too. Smooth ride. Tight turning radius. Nice acceleration at the light. Negatives: At low speed the exhaust noise is a bit louder than I expected. Also, it's a little tight getting into the driver seat. Once I'm in everything is fine but entering seems a little tighter than my 03 Focus SE. The other negative is with the syncmyride.com website. It doesn't seem to know that Ford offers the Sync system in 09 Escapes. It neither offers the Escape as an option when you're signing up nor does it recognize my VIN as a vehicle that has the Sync system. Kinda disappointing. Summary: My wife loves her new car. She loves playing music from the flash drive in the Escape's USB slot, she loves calling friends from her car, and she loves the new car smell.

Last Saturday I ordered my wife's new Escape. The dealer printed out a page that says "VEHICLE ORDER CONFIRMATION" at the top and lists the options and a price. Can someone help me understand the process that will happen between Ford and the dealership from here? The dealer hasn't talked about financing or asked for any kind of commitment from me so I'm wondering if he has really ordered the car.
