  1. Even if it did go that low, you are using the same short sighted thinking that got us in trouble over the last year. It simply won't last. I'm all for cheap oil and gas, but we need to be looking for alternatives now, and not getting complacent and going back to the same bad habits we had before. Believe me, I want to run out and trade my I4 Fusion for a new F-150, but it just doesn't make sense in the long run....

  2. OK, so I bought a short throw kit and bushing kit for my MTX from Steeda. I got them installed no problem. But I just finally installed my new shift boot and went to make sure all the nuts were tight in the studs holding down the shift assembly. The bottom two tightened a half a turn, but when I went to turn the top right one, it spun a lot. After about 1 full turn, the stud sheared right off below the nut. So now I only have 3 studs holding the assembly down. Anyone have any idea of how that stud is attached to the floor? Is it a double screw in or welded? I'm going to take the entire center console off and have a better look, but I don't want to screw things up any more.....

  4. No no, you have to scroll through the other pics and you'll see the blue V6 'stang.

I'll attach one for the confused! :)

Count me amongst the confused...lol. I realized I had to get through the GT before finding the V6. I definitely like the wheels on the V6 better than the ones on the GT.

  5. From what I read on Nascar.com, the ford will be the mustang.

    http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlines/...test/index.html

That's what I read too. They wanted some differentiation from the Sprint Cup, and with the revival of the Pony Cars, Ford would go Mustang, Chevy would go Camaro, and Dodge would go Challenger. Not that it really matters. Like WJ said, their just fiberglass bodies with stickers on them. Especially the CoT cars....

  6. I'm not really the target audience for a Flex I guess, because I don't need the 7 passenger seating. I'd like the additional space for when it is necessary, but I don't need it. So for me, it comes down to price on this. I really like the Flex. I like it a whole lot. And I realize I could get a base model for under $30K, but I would rather get an Edge SEL with the SYNC and Vista roof for around $30K. Or get a completely loaded Escape Limited for around $28K....

  7. Can you believe that his campaign was actually considering a one race sponsorship deal with NASCAR, and the car was a Toyota?.

Well, not for nothing, but the Camry is assembled in Kentucky with American workers, whereas the Fusion is assembled in Mexico with Mexican workers.... But I see your point, it would have looked better to have gone with an American brand...

  8. Yeah, but you still can't seat 7 in the Edge! Or, like our case, 2 adults plus 3 children in car seats. That is the reason we are going to buy a Flex in the coming monhts. We will need room for a 3rd car seat in January, and my wife doesn't want to drive a minivan. The Flex is an awesome people mover!

I agreed with you. Thats why I said, if you need the extra people space, you can't go wrong.

  9. I'll take back my earlier statement. I went back and looked at the Flex at my dealer, and it does have a lot of utility. And going option for option against an Edge Limited, the Flex Limited is less than $4K more. So if you need the extra people space, its not a bad deal. The biggest difference now is that the Edge has some incentives on it, so that widens the price margin to more than $6K. I would definitely buy it before I bought a Chrysler minivan....

  10. I finally saw a new Flex on the dealer lot today. It was right out front. I passed by and turned around to check it out. I looked at it inside and out. OK, its a little boxy but it would grow on me. The odometer had 122 miles on it from all the test drives. Leather seats, 2 big moon roofs, captains chairs, refrigerator for a six pack, drop down dvd player for the kiddies, room for 7 comfortably, SYNC, quiet ride ( 19in tires) and suprisingly spacious. The heads would turn if I took this home.

Out of curiosity, I asked the dealer about Z-Plan. He didnt know if it was Z-Plan eligible yet.

And then.......... out of the blue, the crafty salesman pulled out the window sticker. Has all the bells and whistles listed , 28 mpg on the highway and 23 city and at the end.......eeeeeeeekkkkkkkk $37,588! HUH???? $37,600?????

Add this on to the list of cars people would drive, but cant afford. If this was to take the mini-van buyers away from Dodge Caravan, sorry, the Caravan wins. A VERY well equipped Caravan wouldnt cost more than $25,000.

Ford , if you sell a very well equipped Flex for $25,000, you have many many sales and the Windsor plant keeps working! I'd take a $25,000 EDGE over the $37,000 Flex anyday!

I agree wholeheartedly. Saw one when I picked up my Fusion last week. And it was stickered at $37K. Completely out of reach for what it is. If I decide to go with a crossover, I will definitely be looking at the Edge and not the Flex. BTW, where did you see 23/28? All of the Flex's I've seen are 17/24....

  11. I didn't mean to imply that the base Focus starts at that. But it starts at £12,495, which is $24,500. I'm just saying that all the boards complain about why we don't get the Euro Focus and have to deal with the one we have. The answer is $10,000. Thats the difference between the starting price of the US Focus and the UK Focus. And people in the US just aren't willing to pay that much money.

Using your Volvo example, I realize that the money conversion doesn't work out exactly. The C30 starts at £14,995 in the UK, which would be about $29,500 in the States. But the starting price here in the States is actually 23,000. So obviously something has to give. But working that out proportionally still puts the Euro spec Focus starting near $20,000, and the American buying public just won't stand for that....

  12. I see now why we don't get the Euro Focus' stateside. The article I read on that Focus RS says it starts at £25,000, which is just shy of $50,000 these days. No on is going to pay $50K for a Focus, regardless of how dressed up it is.....

  13. id slam that engine (if this is even believable info) under every non mustang GT that i could...hell if it could get near 35mpg with this combo might as well kiss challenger and camros ass good by...of course it would be nice to still have the V6 eco boost available for those that desire..i never cared for the svo stang in the 80's..hopefully this proposal/concept does not take us back to those horrible years

The biggest issue with those old SVO's was the turbo lag. There are ways to compensate for that, and Mazda has pretty much figured them out as well as anybody. Even in the last 5 years, turbos have had less lag. If Ford can pull some knowledge from Mazda and get that turbo working right, and the price point isn't insane, this will be a winner. Imagine, bringing in two different camps of buyers - those who always wanted a Mustang, but always drove ricer Civics and MS3's.....

  14. They had a news clip of this guy today on the local news channel. His Mustangs are sweet looking. Apparently everything is true, they even showed him driving the car and a decent launch from a stop. It's a regular push rod and carb motor. I guess this is the "100mpg Carb" that's been sitting in a basement.

The article says he increased the engine's efficiency to 38%. As much as I hope its true, I'm calling shenanigans. But I really, really hope its not.

  15. The Fusion has 1.1" more in the rear legroom. My daughter who is 5' 4" has no problem getting in and out from the back seat. Of course, it helps if the front seat isn't pushed all the way back.

    I really like this one.

Thanks. My kids are both little, but my wife is concerned about having room for them in the back as they (quickly) grow....

  16. Hello there,

You have a good selection of vehicles and your new focus is pretty good lookin machine. Can i drive it?

Does that Mercury have the 2.3L or the 3.0?

Nice ride. I'm looking at picking up one of those for my wife when her lease is up on her Nissan Altima. How is the rear leg room on that, compared to a Fusion?

  17. I just bought an 08 Fusion SE, loaded exactly the way I wanted. Unfortunately, it was the service managers demo, so it had 2,000 miles on it. But I got it for a really good deal. Anyway, after looking through my paperwork, I realize I don't have the window sticker. Is it possible for you guys to attach the PDF of the sticker like you do for the trackings? The VIN is 3FAHP07Z78R224631.
