" They live in a 90 something year old house with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, no garage, and drive a 00 and 03 buick century that they paid cash for....they have no debt and pretty much don't even go on vacation....both are retired and they say that because of all their smart decisions in the past when they pass away their kids (3) will be able to pay off their mortgages and still have plenty left over. "
Now here is the way I see that quote. My wife and I busted our asses since we got married in 67, raising 3 good kids and giving them everything they NEEDED including good educations. Not too long ago, during the holidays while we all had a rare chance of all being together because of distance, the subject of our will came up. I guaranteed them all that when the time comes for dirt to be shoveled in my face, the only money they would ever have to fight over is whatever change I may have in my pockets. We are both 61 yrs old and its our turn to reap the benefits of our labors. Too many parents like to keep their kids on the "nipple" and never get to get out of town. Call me cold hearted but our children all have great jobs and are doing it the same way with their kids that we did with them. Car payments??? I've had them since the age of 16 and I'll probably be buried with one. Gotta keep FOMOCO's gears greased!!! Brian
