How common is it for the power steering system to leak at the points of connection - rubber to metal tubing with factory spring type connectors?

I haev not seen any leakage. Though I have notice that you can hear liquid gurgling when you start it after sitting for a while - over night. I will double check the coolant.

Have a 2007 Exlporer Limited. Wife drives it and has been noticing that the warning lights on the dash will come on indicating an engine overheating. Did this like twice last winter when it was like -15 degrees out and has did not happen all summer. Now with the weather getting cold again it is acting up again. Warning lights come on like it is overheating. Stop. shut the truck off and it is fine again. We have noticed that warm air will only be generated and blow out of the vents when the truck is moving. When in park - only cold air blows out. Thinking that the thermostat is sticking or fried. Any other ideas?

Update on my traction control issue. The Traction control has been activating when accelerating on flat, dry pavement. I can feel it rev or torque the engine -but if I have to put the brakes on I get a grinding and shudder in the truck. Grinding is like when the brake pads are worn. It is really bad and makes me wonder what would happen at highway speeds if it happens and have to hit the brakes hard. It happens intermittently and has been at 20-35 MPH. Afraid of the damage - I pull over and turn the truck off, restart and go on my way. So far that has "stopped" the event. Any suggestions?

Buzz - I have a 2007 EXPY Limited (~59k Miles) and have had driver side wind noise at freeway speeds. Not sure if it is the drivers door or rear passngr door. Maybe both....what has been your exprience? Any Fix?

2007 Expedition Limited. Just experienced a driver side widow regulator failure. The truck is only 3 years old. Have read other places that this is a normal occurrance? Cost me $325 to get it fixed at the dealer. Is this just a bad part/design? Just dont think that it should fail after only 3 years.

How big of a fix if it just the sensor? Or if it is something other than the sensor?

This should not harm the transmission, brakes, gear boxes.....

Lately the traction control system on my 2007 Limited Expy has been activating and the indicator on the dash will not turn off unless I park and shut the truck off and start it back up again. Taking a trip this weekend and I am wondering if I need to take the truck in to get it looked at before we leave. Any ideas as to why this is happening ?

Just had my 2007 Expy LTD (35,000) in the shop to have the tranny looked at for the second time. Last time they reflashed the tranny back in Feb 2009. Still have problems with down shifting and towing. Dealer say everything is in spec and that they dont show any additional updates to perform. Can anyone out there tell me if there is anything more current on tranny fixes..............

As the weather starts to cool off here in MN, I have been turning up the heat in the truck and been getting a whistling noise coming from somewhere in the vent system. I only here it when the dash vents are on when the temp is set at 72-75 degrees. Gets worse when the fan is turned up high and it goes away if the heat is set 71 degrees and below or at 76 degrees and above. Do not hear the sound when the only the floor vents are on or when only the defrost is on. Can hear it when the defrost and floor vents are on with the dash vents. Weird...... Anyone seen anything similar of have any ideas as to what could cause this?

Buzz - Talked with the dealer. The tranny is fine. What apparently happened was that when the tech fixed the leaky axle seal he did may have not torqued the bolts down on the caliper/wheel. When I stepped on the brake - the loud thud was from the caliper binding up with the wheel. Service manager said that there was no collateral damage - though he will have to inspect the caliper..............hope nothing is bent. They say they inspected the wheel/tire and everything seemed fine there.

Yeah I guess there is that. Any guess as to how long it should take to fix....... Buzz -Thanks for starting my day off with a laugh.....

Thought I would update everyone on my experience with my '07 Limited. After reading up as much as I could about the issues with the tranny's - I thought I was okay when I finally found what I was looking for - a Tri-Coat White limited with 22" chrome rims 4X4 with all the fixn's. Had 17,000 miles on it and was a dealer demo. Has 20,500 miles on it and I just took it in today for an oil change, to fix a leaky seal on the front axle. I also started to notice the truck hesitate when starting off in first and was starting to rev a bit between first and second. Well, the dealership was not able to download the new program from Ford so they could re-flash the tranny on the onboard computer. They said that I could take the truck and they would call me when they had the program to download onto my truck. I picked it up and about two blocks from my house - I slow down to turn off the highway onto my street and heard this awful thud and grinding noise as I was slowing down. I coasted to a stop sign and I took put the brake on and again an awful thud and grinding noise. Took my foot off the brake and the truck did not move. Gave her some gas and nothing. Shifted down into 3 rd and then back into drive and she gave me enough to get into my driveway - with a lot of grinding and thuds......... Not sure if they tried to upload as they were downloading from Ford - or if this was just a coincidence. They came and put her on a flat bed and took it to the dealership and I hope to get a report on it tomorrow. Not a happy camper. Frustrated. Hope they can fix or I want a new truck. I am not gonna put up with any crap since I have several references to service bulletins that are out on the same problem. THough I have not heard of any tranny's failing.

Purchased a dealer demo 07 Limited and love it. Though the noisy blower fan is driving me a bit nuts. Anyone else have the same issue? Not sure if I want to bring in and have the blower replaced as it may not help. Any suggestions for fixing it or reducing the noise?

I picked up a 2007 Limited 4x4 with 17,000 miles on it. I have been reading with great intereste the threads about tranny problems. I am wondering if the later build dates had less problems. Build date on this one is May '07. What should I be on the lookout for? I have been watching the RPMs but do not see any ramp up when the truck is shifting. Probably should turn off the tunes.......that may help to hear any engine reving. For now I love the truck. Much nicer than the 2003 I traded in.

Thanks Buzz. Forgot to mention that this is a 4x4 as well. Reading past posts - the MPG's seem to be about the same. Just worried that the 3.73 will be a drag on MPG.

I am trying to decide on pulling the trigger on an 07 Limited with 14,500 miles on it. Driven by a GM at a dealership. Was wondering if the axle gears make a big difference in gas mileage. The 07 that I am looking at has 20" tires with an axle gear of 3.73. Will the 3.73 gear be less fuel efficient than the 3.31? Do most Limted Expy's have the 3.73 or does it vary? Thanks in advance. PS I have an 03 EB Expy currently.

Thanks Nick - The truck is being sold by a Dealer here in MN. The General Manager has been driving it. Dealer is pricing it at $29,500 range.
