  1. Thanks for the input. I won't be buying those tires. I'm looking for a good tire that won't break the bank. I've been quoted $320/tire for Michelin Pilots at Costco (Canada, US prices any better?).
  2. OK... am I crazy... it looks pretty fine... so why wouldn't I do it? The tires are almost new Falken Azenis 245/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear for a really good deal $. Thanks for your help. Happy New Year! :happy feet:
  3. Crap! I thought they were 9" rims. The tire is too wide! Anyone want to sell a couple 9" or 10" chrome cobra rims? The 275/40/17 were going on the back so steering isn't a problem, front will remain 245/45/17. Thanks for your help.
  4. I checked this website that has a tire size calculator (pretty cool).... http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculato...p?action=submit ... and it suggests that a 275/40/17 will fit on a minimum 9" wide rim... ... are 01 cobra rims 9" or are they less (8" or 8.5")?
  5. Merry Christmas! Quick tire question: Will 275/40/17 tires fit on stock 01 cobra rims? If not what's the max? Thanks,
  6. Here's the latest on this... the light stayed on long enough to get it to the dealer. They couldn't get an error code from the control module (no communication) so they conclude that the ABS control module needs to be replaced. The part costs $1000 from the dealer! Has anyone had any experience with rebuilt ABS controllers from... BBA-reman.com Funny thing after visiting the dealer... the ABS light is no longer intermittent... it's now on constantly.
  7. I was just looking at the Steeda online catalog, did you install the "Cobra IRS Subframe Bracket Kit" (555-5405) and the "Cobra Differential Bushings (555-4015) or the "IRS Subframe Bushings" (555-4016) or all three? Did you install everything yourself or... how many hours of shoptime would you have to pay for? Thanks in advance.
  8. Man has this forum dried-up or what? Where's the wealth of knowledge gone? Took my car to the dealer and they couldn't troubleshoot the ABS system because the ABS idiot light won't stay on. They said the next time it goes on bring it back. What's with that? C'mon you smart, practical, experienced SVT dudes... what do you know about the ABS system? Is there anything I can do to scope it out on my own?
  9. Thanks Mike, I should re-phrase the question... what sensor(s) activate the ABS caution light? Are there multiple sensors to detect pad wear, fluid level, etc.? The manual suggests that ABS braking is disabled when the light is on.
  10. Hi, I haven't posted for a while, looks like the crowd has thinned-out? I hope this forum still has the wealth of knowledge that it used to have. Anyway just a quick question regarding the ABS caution light in my 99 vert. The manual is a bit vague describing what it means. My ABS light comes and goes intermittently ever since I made a panic stop to avoid a guy running a stop sign. It only goes on for 10-30 seconds every couple of days (no consistency). The last thing I want to do is take it to the dealer so they can replace everything from the computer to the rotors. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
