  1. This sounds like a problem an SHO owner was having on another board. Intermittant, loss of power, decreased performance, etc, etc. Turned out a wire for one of the knock sensors had chaffed against a bracket on the engine causing an intermittant short. When it shorted it made the computer think the engine was knocking so the PCM pulled fuel and spark causing the car to fall flat on it's face. I think this only affects the FWD based (transverse engine) vehicles due to the routing of the harness to that knock sensor.

  2. The word from Ford via my dealer is that our delay is solely based on the car having nav, otherwise it could be scheduled much sooner. As it is now the car will be built early October and should arrive the first week in November; we ordered the car August 16th.

Also I mis-stated our color...we got Sonic blue. I guess there was a change up at the last minute regarding which dark blue would be available (Kona or Sonic). I think that was also caused by problems getting the paint pigments due to the tsunami.

  3. it should take at least 3 weeks to receive a VIN.

I order mine 3 weeks ago too.

Really? I thought when I ordered my SHO I had my VIN within a week. It was the time from build complete to receiving at the dealer that took forever (about a month).

How is your Focus configured? Ours is a Kona Blue Titanium sedan, pretty much everything except the handling package, moonroof, and park assist.

  4. The thrust of the car is a bit of an odd sensation. There is very little audible sense of the speed. Coming from other performace cars this has taken some getting used to. I think the size of the car also makes the feel of speed a bit different. Maybe my mind just thinks a car this big should not have thrust this strong?

The SHO is everything I want in a car. Awesome Job Ford.

The acceleration is deceptive, that's for sure. I've been watching my mpg and I'm starting to think the most efficient way to drive the car for best mileage is to do jackrabbit starts (quickly accelerate to speed and get off it). With the amount of torque available I think getting up to speed as quickly as possible is better than a long, drawn out pull to cruising speed.

This car has exceeded all of my expectations. I love it.

  5. My SHO came in today. Got a call from the dealer at 1:00 that the transport just dropped it off. They got pictures of it coming off the trailer for me and will burn them to disk tomorrow. I picked it up tonight and it is AWESOME!!! The power is amazing and should only get better once I get past the 50 mile "nanny" limit in the PCM. Here's a couple of pics in PDI before I took it home.

  6. Curious - how long was it from order date to delivery? I am at 7 weeks.

You and I must've ordered our cars about the same time. I placed my order Aug 28th, had my VIN September 8th, was scheduled for build the week of Oct 5th then my build week was pushed to the 12th but car was finished the 9th. Been waiting since.

What color is yours? I ordered red although lately I've been leaning more towards steel blue. Oh well, too late now.

  7. Just called Ford Customer Care again and talked to an awersome guy named Rob. Apparently my car has been ready for ship since 10/9/09 and is still waiting on a shipper. The thing that was funny though is that, apparently at some point my car was going to ship by rail but then got pulled back and reassigned to a different shipper (probably truck transport) and is now just waiting for a truck heading my direction. I asked him about being held for a quality check or any problems and he said if that were the case he'd be able to see it as secondary notes. I feel better talking to him as he provided more info than I've received the previous times I've called. It looks to me like there may have been some confusion as to whether my car was going to go by rail or not.

  8. I'm in the same boat. My SHO was reported as built and gate released for delivery on 10/12/09 but the delivery date is still "TBD". The sales manager at my dealer told me the Taurus he ordered for his granddad still showed a delivery date of "TBD" the day it arrived on the transport. He said the Taurus is the only vehicle where there's "issues" getting the shipping information; I don't know if it's the shipper or what. Everytime I call Ford's customer care number all they can tell me is that it's released for shipping. I only live about 3 hours from the plant and I could've drove up there and picked it up by now.

  9. Can anyone give me shipping information on my car? It's been "released for shipping" since October 12th and still no estimated delivery date. The dealership said the last Taurus the sales manager ordered for his parents still showed it's delivery date "TBD" when it showed up on the truck one day. The wait for this car is killing me; I could've drove to the plant and picked it up in less than 4 hours but I've already waited over a week for it. Ughhhhhhhhhh...

  10. Test drove a Taurus SEL at the end of August. What a great car! I went ahead and placed an order for an SHO the next day. VIN 1FAHP2KT0AG117139 and is scheduled to be built October 5th (my seven year wedding anniversary...what a coincidence). If you guys and gals could keep a sharp eye out, I'd appreciate it. Candy red metallic with optional 20" wheels.

Keep up the awesome work and I can't wait to get my SHO!
