  1. This sounds like a problem an SHO owner was having on another board. Intermittant, loss of power, decreased performance, etc, etc. Turned out a wire for one of the knock sensors had chaffed against a bracket on the engine causing an intermittant short. When it shorted it made the computer think the engine was knocking so the PCM pulled fuel and spark causing the car to fall flat on it's face. I think this only affects the FWD based (transverse engine) vehicles due to the routing of the harness to that knock sensor.
  2. The word from Ford via my dealer is that our delay is solely based on the car having nav, otherwise it could be scheduled much sooner. As it is now the car will be built early October and should arrive the first week in November; we ordered the car August 16th. Also I mis-stated our color...we got Sonic blue. I guess there was a change up at the last minute regarding which dark blue would be available (Kona or Sonic). I think that was also caused by problems getting the paint pigments due to the tsunami.
  3. Looks to me like the belt "submerged in oil" is the oil pump drive belt. There's another belt in front of that one going around the crank that is the cam timing belt.
  4. Really? I thought when I ordered my SHO I had my VIN within a week. It was the time from build complete to receiving at the dealer that took forever (about a month). How is your Focus configured? Ours is a Kona Blue Titanium sedan, pretty much everything except the handling package, moonroof, and park assist.
  5. We ordered out 2012 Focus almost three weeks ago and it has yet to be assigned a VIN. I think the problems getting parts from Japan for Nav units is going to wind up hurting customer ordered units.
  6. There's no "turbo lag" on my SHO and the ATAAC is mounted in front of the radiator.
  7. And also the button for the power rear shade (if equipped) and the cigarette lighter/12v plug-in. Synch USB/line-in is housed under the arm rest in the storage compartment.
  8. Collision Avoidance is always available but you have to get the adaptive cruise control to get collision avoidance because they use the same radar module.
  9. The acceleration is deceptive, that's for sure. I've been watching my mpg and I'm starting to think the most efficient way to drive the car for best mileage is to do jackrabbit starts (quickly accelerate to speed and get off it). With the amount of torque available I think getting up to speed as quickly as possible is better than a long, drawn out pull to cruising speed. This car has exceeded all of my expectations. I love it.
  10. The specific example I had read about was a trunk lid that wasn't quite aligned correctly.
  11. My car doesn't have any panel issues although I've ready at least one story of panel gap issues that the dealer apparently didn't address during the PDI.
  12. My SHO came in today. Got a call from the dealer at 1:00 that the transport just dropped it off. They got pictures of it coming off the trailer for me and will burn them to disk tomorrow. I picked it up tonight and it is AWESOME!!! The power is amazing and should only get better once I get past the 50 mile "nanny" limit in the PCM. Here's a couple of pics in PDI before I took it home.
  13. Wish I had mine. Going on four weeks that the car's been built and still no SHO. Maybe it'll come this week.
  14. You and I must've ordered our cars about the same time. I placed my order Aug 28th, had my VIN September 8th, was scheduled for build the week of Oct 5th then my build week was pushed to the 12th but car was finished the 9th. Been waiting since. What color is yours? I ordered red although lately I've been leaning more towards steel blue. Oh well, too late now.
  15. Just called Ford Customer Care again and talked to an awersome guy named Rob. Apparently my car has been ready for ship since 10/9/09 and is still waiting on a shipper. The thing that was funny though is that, apparently at some point my car was going to ship by rail but then got pulled back and reassigned to a different shipper (probably truck transport) and is now just waiting for a truck heading my direction. I asked him about being held for a quality check or any problems and he said if that were the case he'd be able to see it as secondary notes. I feel better talking to him as he provided more info than I've received the previous times I've called. It looks to me like there may have been some confusion as to whether my car was going to go by rail or not.
  16. I'm in the same boat. My SHO was reported as built and gate released for delivery on 10/12/09 but the delivery date is still "TBD". The sales manager at my dealer told me the Taurus he ordered for his granddad still showed a delivery date of "TBD" the day it arrived on the transport. He said the Taurus is the only vehicle where there's "issues" getting the shipping information; I don't know if it's the shipper or what. Everytime I call Ford's customer care number all they can tell me is that it's released for shipping. I only live about 3 hours from the plant and I could've drove up there and picked it up by now.
  17. Can anyone give me shipping information on my car? It's been "released for shipping" since October 12th and still no estimated delivery date. The dealership said the last Taurus the sales manager ordered for his parents still showed it's delivery date "TBD" when it showed up on the truck one day. The wait for this car is killing me; I could've drove to the plant and picked it up in less than 4 hours but I've already waited over a week for it. Ughhhhhhhhhh...
  18. I've had my VIN for over a month (ordered Aug 28th) and my SHO was supposed to be built last week but on Thursday Ford told me the build got pushed a week so my car should be built this week. Here's to crossing my fingers.
  19. I ordered my SHO August 28th and it was supposed to be built this week. I called Customer Care today and she told me the build had been pushed back a week and the current status was "boss and buck". I'm assuming the chassis is being built now and will be set on line next week to be dressed out.
  20. So here it is, the week before it's supposed to be built and still no sticker. I'm sure there's no reason to be worried, right? The dealer is still showing a "build date" of 10/5/09.
  21. Test drove a Taurus SEL at the end of August. What a great car! I went ahead and placed an order for an SHO the next day. VIN 1FAHP2KT0AG117139 and is scheduled to be built October 5th (my seven year wedding anniversary...what a coincidence). If you guys and gals could keep a sharp eye out, I'd appreciate it. Candy red metallic with optional 20" wheels. Keep up the awesome work and I can't wait to get my SHO!
  22. Straight from the mouth of my dealer when I was driving the 2010 Taurus. Also, with the power reclining seats of the upper trim levels, I don't know how you could make them fold flat.
  23. On my SHO order I got $1,000 rebate, $750 coupon from Ford, and a $500 "new vehicle order" discount on top of my X-plan price. I should've also had a $500 college grad discount but it wasn't available on the SHO.
