  1. Why not just order a 2010 then? If you were planning to order anyway, it will work out better as you get a "new" car.
  2. Ok- Thanks. I thought production of '09 Flex's was due to stop real shortly and be all '10's in May... Anyway, Congrats!
  3. Was Ecoboost part of the option sheet? I'm very anxious for EB....
  4. My guess is the insurance company is trying not to pay. Sue the guy and/or his insurance company. If nothing else, get the security tapes from the gas station. You may be able to get something from it to prove it was his car. I'm surprised the cops didn't say more than this - you'd think they would go after the guy for hit and run. Get it in front of a judge.....
  5. It would be 1000x better if Apple did it. As much as I'm loving where Ford is going, the partnership with MS just bothers me. Don't know why, but I really don't want any MS crap anywhere near my car. That being said, I'm thinking Ford (Flex or Taurus SHO) as my next car. DESPITE MS SYNC, not because of it. The tech is cool, but I really don't want to advertise for MS and I wish we could get a similar system not made by them.
  6. Anyone know when we can order/see one? Also, does it have pushbutton start like the new Taurus or are we stuck with a key? I really love the Flex and am seriously thinking "new car" in the next 6-12 months.
  7. On the fence on the extended warranty thing..... My Experience - 1997 Mustang Cobra, took the warranty. Had a couple rear seals go (one of which took the whole rear end- didn't notice it until it was singing like a Church Choir) and a sensor and a few other things - I think I made out on the rear alone. 1998 Escort (wife's) - tranny was shifting weird and the dealer replaced something - next thing we know the thing was slipping and such. New tranny. I think it helped there as well. 2000 Explorer - no extended warranty. By 58k the tranny was toast, by 60k the engine was rattling cold. $2k + later I kicked myself for not getting it. The engine rattling was a known problem with that SOHC engine. 2003 Escape - extended warranty - oil pan gasket and A/C compressor all paid for by the warranty 2004 Infiniti G35 - no warranty. at 68k, the AC stopped working. $1300 and a new condenser, AC line, and Body Control Module later I had A/C. at 80k I may be looking at an intermittent MAF issue ($300 for the sensor alone). Wish I had the warranty. I maintain all my cars well - by the books, oil @ 3k, follow the maintenance schedule and there have been issues. When I didn't have the warranty, I wished I had it and when I had it I didn't worry. Probably worked about even.....
  8. Not I. I want performance and since the fuel economy is roughly the same as my present car and the car has less emissions, it's a bonus. If consumers were looking for green technology they would skip hybrids. Those batteries have lots of toxic metals which have to be mined somehow..... They'd be looking at Diesels - lots more MPG than gas engines. Then again many are just sheep and buy what the media tells them to rather than think about issues. They're now blaming Global Warming (ignoring that the Northern Hemisphere has had a record cold winter this year) on industrialized agriculture. And you'll probably get the same or worse gas mileage. I owned 1986 4 cylinder Mustang. Got the same fuel economy that I got with my 1997 Cobra. Why? On the highway to keep up 75 mph I had to keep the revs up around 2-3k and the gas pedal 1/2 way to the floor. In the V8 it loafed at under 2k and barely touched the gas. Same thing with the I4 EB - you may have to keep your foot into it to go anywhere and negate any fuel savings.
  9. I've read just about this whole topic and WOW! Seems like a lot of people like to moan about something without looking at perspective. 24 MPG with today's numbers on a huge car is GREAT. What everyone forgets is that the good old US Gubm'ent changed the MPG ratings a few years ago. Head over to www.fueleconomy.gov to do some comparisons. What I did surprised me! Currently I drive an '04 Infiniti G35 Sedan 6MT and am looking at a Flex when the EcoBost comes out. My current car was rated 20/27 back in 2004. Today it's 17/24. That's a car with a 3.5L 260hp V6 and a 6 speed manual. Compare that to the Flex AWD and it's 16/22, so I'd loose 1 city MPG and 2 highway MPG's. Given that I routinely can get 27 (as verified by the NAV's MPG function) on straight highway, I'd estimate I'll get 25 in a Flex. Not too shabby for a much larger car. Not to mention I should be able to run regular, something my G35 doesn't like too much. Not to mention the emissions on the Ford 3.5 are Bin5/ULEV II, which are great. Sorry, this fuel economy is much ado about nothing given the size, weight and performance. Me, I can't wait till the EB so I can see about this Flex.
