  1. I don't hear many "meh" stories about the Tempo/Topaz. They were all either total pieces of crap that fell apart and were in the junkyard before 50k miles, or went 200k+ with the hood being opened to add a qt of oil every 25k, until the hood rusted shut and then they put a piece of electrical tape on the oil light and drove another 50k miles.

  2.

And basically, this is a handy way of seeing which 15 year old brands are more valuable. I also suspect that if models were broken out, the top models would all be trucks.

And if they called it "which 15 year old brands are more valuable" I'd have no problem with it, but it's a stretch to equate "non-zero value" with "most reliable."

If Fords are zero value after 198k, lets's see, :headscratch: all my vehicles are worth about $27.

  3.

The formula used a linear regression model to find out how much mileage a vehicle could could compile before losing all value.

That means nothing to me. What did they do, go on craigslist and figure the new price of a vehicle with zero miles vs. the CL price with 200,000 and try to get to zero?

Of course Honda and Toyota are going to win that, everybody thinks their used up Taco with 300k miles is still worth $3k.

wallstreetcheatsheet.com? I would trust them for auto advice like I trust Road & Track for advice on my 401K.

  4. What do they expect from a boring truck with a sub par interior and absolutely no powertrain innovation whatsoever?

The powertrain (engines) is actually a decent upgrade from last year, but nobody knows about it because they kept all the displacements the same.

"4.3? I had one of those 10 years ago, it was a dog and got crap mileage."

"5.3? Neighbor had one of those with piston slap, sounded like a damn Diesel."

Meet the new truck, looks like the old truck, with the same engine choices.

  5. And if you'll believe this... GM's sales will not be released due to a "computer malfunction."

What are the odds that Ram outsold the Silverado?

There's their computer problem: Too much RAM!

Manager1:We got a problem guys, sales numbers say Ram outsold Silverado.

Manager2:That can't be right, call IT and see what's going on

    DBA: Those numbers are correct.

Manager1: We have computer issues! Get me somebody that can botch the SQL and get the "right" numbers.

Jr. DBA: I fudged it as much as I could, couldn't screw it up bad enought to look good.

Manager1: Release the numbers...... and get me a Maalox.

  6. Turbo GT was '83-84

    SVO was until '86

The Turbo Coupes are nostalgic, but most people identify with, and want, the Aerolamp Hi-Po intercooled 87-88s.

I bought my unloved '83 at an abandoned/impound vehicle auction in 2005 for $120. The turbo badges have long since fallen off, and the front clip was involved in an accident and replaced with a regular '84 clip. The TRX wheels were replaced with 10-holes, (because TRX Tire$$$$$!) so other than the engine, it's hard to tell mine isn't a base model.

  7. Who actually bought them?

:salute: I did. It's not going to win a lot of stop light races, but that's not what I bought it for. I can't remember the last time I had to go WOT to get where I was going. I might prefer an 08-09 Taurus with the 3.5, but the '10 Taurus restyle destroyed most all the things I loved about the previous generation.

I also drive a 146hp Thunderbird and don't find it particularly slow. My 100hp Ranger is slow, but I forgive every time I get 27-28mpg.
