  1. In comparision to a UAW-Ford facility not even close....

UAW Ford is the best place to work period.

Staying at Sandusky is a big mistake. Stay with Ford for the benefit of your good wages and benefits. No way will flexingate ever compare to UAW-Ford. Ever

Big risk in leaving the job security, pay and benefits of UAW Ford.

Signing on with any new company and leaving UAW-Ford is not a brilliant decision

  2. Geez,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Never seen so much interest in $19.50 jobs with a transition to our wages.

The haters on here are the same ones bitching about entry level last year (and trying to get people hired) that saved our jobs and industry in this country

    wow, kind of ironic

  3. Please educate yourself before posting here new one. Engage yourself with the arbitration process and how it is utilized by many industries for final and binding conflict resolution.

The case is still in the arbitration examination cross examination of witnesses. The arbitrator is an administrative law judge and will render a decision once the he decides the all evidence has been presented. Company nor union can taint the arbitration process.

You are correct. Here are the steps for all of the "chucks" out there

    1) The attorneys on both sides are done with examination and cross examination of the witnesses and agree that all evidence has been presented and hearings officially end.

    2) Once the hearings are done the union and company attorneys produce the closing arguments (briefs) within 30 days

    3) The arbitrator has 30 to 90 days to render a decision

So in essence I want to know when all hearings are done (1). Then I know that the attorneys have 30 days for briefs (2). Then I wait for the final and binding decision 30 to 90 days from the arbitrator (3).

Still confused read the above 3 steps s-l-o-w-l-y. This is how the past 2,000 UAW-Ford Umpire Decisions have been made.

Not a new process but it has been in our contract for 65 years.

The arbitrators "decision" will be final and binding and in written form.

  4. Your facts are skewed and twisted. Ford Motor Company's way forward plan had 80% of production moving to Mexico in a five year timeline. The Union negotiated on our behalf a concessionary 2007 agreement for our job security and keeping jobs in the USA !!!!

The UAW was successful in gaining huge investments in our 2011 agreement creating thousands of jobs and even returning work and product back into our plants from mexico and asia

    Amen infinity +1

Our high wages forced the company to send our jobs to Mexico, Asia and Canada in the way forward plan. The actions of the UAW in 2007 and 2009 saved our jobs.

The UAW proactively saved us. We (Ford UAW) are still the highest paid, best benefits and greatest job security of any automaker in America,

Thanks to the UAW on this day our Savior has risen.

  5. OKAY... :o which one of you squealers... told ?????

"You" ...who ever it was, has gone and done it.....now!!!

Really, how else did the Glass House Crew ever find out that our decision makers were, to put it mildly "So Screwed UP" :fan:

Its been a long time since the Glass House Crew had a sleep over in Chicago. But, there right (always) everything will be better when the food and drink is not out on the production floor. Being focused on "built with pride" (once again right, right, right) (always) means no discussions on the line other than about "bettering the product" or "completing your operational task more efficiently".

For those supervisors that do interact with their employee`s, you will be moved so you can nurtured your true sense of hate, so as to interact properly in the "One Ford Way".

You squealers had to go and tell.... Dearborn, would have never guessed CAP was screwed up.... I mean come on.. a few extra units sitting around for a little to long or some units not completely assembled or the Op Com members looking for rental space to park units. Really, Dearborn would have never found out. Well maybe...??

Hold on, the guided tours to the exit have begun..... B)

    Decker

    1 of the 1788

I say Decker needs to run the place, its quite obvious nobody knows the business like Decker

  6. It was reported to us by our chairman at DTP that the arbitrator could give his decision on the 9th (yesterday) assuming the meeting happened and wasn't postponed. I'm guessing their either wasn't a decision made or one in our favor, or the meeting was pushed back again otherwise the union would've put it out by now.

More than likely it was another hearing date.

Again,,,,,, until the hearings end and all witnesses have been examined and cross examined then we know that there is 30 days to turn in closing arguments. Then 30 to 90 days to wait for the arbitrator to render a final decision.

The real "update" is when the attorneys from the union and company agree that all testimony has been presented and the hearings are done. To this point that has not happened.

  7. MAR 9,2012 CAME AND WENT, WHAT HAPPEN UAW STILL NO ANSWER???????

Here is what we wait for:

    1) The attorneys on both sides are done with examination and cross examination of the witnesses and agree that all evidence has been presented and hearings officially end.

    2) Once the hearings are done the union and company attorneys produce the closing arguments (briefs) within 30 days

    3) The arbitrator has 30 to 90 days to render a decision

So in essence I want to know when all hearings are done (1). Then I know that the attorneys have 30 days for briefs (2). Then I wait for the final and binding decision 30 to 90 days from the arbitrator (3).

Those are the updates that matter.

  8. These are the same idiots who will be crying to the union when their wages and benefits are cut because of their political choices. Bunch of greedy morons.

The shame of it all is that once its gone its gone. Republicans = Union Destruction. Bye-bye seniority, our lofty wages and non existent benefits

  9. Its time to support our union.

The time is now with only 2 options

1 Sit on the couch and complain about how the union sucks with our great pay benefits and job security

    or

2 Follow Reuther's path to building the unions strength, building public sympathy and support for the weak and underpaid and gain much needed union membership in all sectors of the employment rolls to build our ability to prosper.

The choice is yours. Sit on the couch and complain or join in the fight.

There is nothing more satisfying or gratifying than protesting and getting arrested for what is right in this country.

    What will you do?

I will join the fight and if successful this will be my 6th arrest on civil disobedience in support and building of our union.

    nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Flint —United Auto Workers President Bob King used the anniversary of the Flint sit-down strike on Friday to call for "direct action" — including nonviolent civil disobedience — to take back America from the "right-wing Republicans" and "one-percenters" he says have hijacked this democracy.

And their first target will be General Electric Co.

Seventy-five years after workers took over General Motors' factories and forced the company to sign its first national contract with the union, King said the same sort of militancy is needed to stop what he called a rollback of workers' rights and civil rights.

"It will take direct action. It will take us being willing to face arrest. It will take us being willing to be part of marches and demonstrations," King told a crowd of some 500 cheering union members gathered at the UAW Local 651 to mark the anniversary of the end of the 1937 strike. He said corporations such as GE are making billions and paying little or no taxes while middle-class Americans are losing their homes.

"It's immoral!" King shouted. "We should be so outraged at the injustice in America!"

But he said workers should not stop there.

King said the UAW is joining with other unions, including the Service Employees International Union, members of Occupy Wall Street and others to create a new "movement for social justice" that will employ the tactics of the civil rights movement to fight against what he called "corporate greed" and attacks on labor.

"In April, we're going to be part of a broad coalition that's going to be training our membership and anybody who cares about justice in this society in nonviolent direct action," King said. Their first mission, he said, will be to demonstrate at the GE shareholders meeting in Detroit on April 25.

"It is morally wrong — it is absolutely wrong — that they make billions and billions and billions of dollars and pay not a single penny in taxes," King said, his veins bulging as his voice grew hoarse from shouting. "Enough is enough. We're the 99 percent who want 100 percent fairness for everyone

  11. Unabashed Capitalism sounds lovely,in theory. What it often evolves into is cut throat, dog eat dog competition aimed at getting a dollar bill in my pocket and keeping one out of yours. There has to be a dichotomy.Otherwise we could just turn a one dollar bill into a million dollar bil and everyone would be happy except what good is it if we all have a million dollars?I want your kid to be flippin my kid a burger when he is out on date night on the campus of University of Michigan.Remember the Countrywide Financial CEO who was giving all the senior politicians favorable loans and the politicians claimed they did not know it was a special deal? Its called a bribe of our elected government representatives. Its stealing your vote.So now who`s side do you think the politician is on,your`s as a working-class person?I understand the Republicans can talk seductively about how we are all going to get ahead, remember 'trickle down economics'?Reagans trickle down theory turned into NAFTA.Capitalists are not patriotic, they love money first.Reagan sold Saddam Hussein the dreaded weapons of mass destruction and sick-Saddam used chemical warfare against Iran and the Kurds.Pallets of cash sent to Iraq unaccounted for, trillions spent on those two wars let alone the human suffering.Iraq and Afghanistan could have apartments, schools, hospitals and roads paved with gold but no,we have to invent a better way to kill people-THE ENEMY.If Shiites and Sunnis and Israelis all want to kill each other until the end of the world, let them do so as long as USA borders are secured.Realize this----the working-class is who the Republicans will attack. We are nice, civil, productive, obedient and we have tremendous collective wealth earned through our perserverance, skill and labor. The working-class are the consumers that every company covets. We are not powerless unless we believe about us what we are told by those who`s goal it is to gain power.A Democratic vote is more in favor of the working-class.Think about giving your union some influence and what that would mean for you and your children. Its how we got our good hourly jobs at Ford.

What scares me is the Republicans are in Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana pushing anti worker antiunion legislation yet there are still UAW members embracing the Republican party.

    Scary

  12. You are a Ford retiree not a Ford employee. Devon are contract employees paid by the contract company. As an outside contractor you will not be getting any profit sharing or signing bonus money.

Wow, learn something new everyday. Retire with a Ford pension, rehire by a agency and work for ACH a subsidy of Ford.

    Say what?

  13. Your in for a culture shock or slugs dont come here, we wont carry you. Come to DTP you whiners. You have only been in one plant and have no idea what other places are like. You couldnt handle it. There are brothers and sisters that have had to re-locate their entire lives and families from Norfolk or where ever else. You people are the ones in for a culture shock. The people coming, and oh they are coming, have been to 4 and 5 different plants and have had to deal with different locals, rules and management. They dont give a rats ass if you like it or not!

    Kinda harsh eh?

  14. These "Right to Work (for less)" legislation schemes is nothing more than a Republican ploy to rid the unions ability to function and ultimately fail. Local 862 did a great breakdown of our dues allocation and where the dues go. Surprisingly the most of our dues are returned to our home local.

This legislation will do nothing more than weaken our union from the inside and our union would eventually fail to exist

I could not imagine our jobs with no union to represent us.

Our wages, benefits, job security, paid holidays, personal days, seniority, shift bumps plus many more would cease to exist

Buy into this Republican scheme and the union will fail. A play right out of the Republican playbook

    Local 862 description below:

    Where Does Our Money Go?

    By Mark L Kantlehner

Over the months I have been talking to people at KTP about our union and a question keeps popping up all the

time: where does our Union Dues go and what do they get used for? I would like to try to help everyone understand that

one little question. The simple answer is sixty percent of the dues come back to the local. Only forty percent stay up in

Detroit with international. Your forty percent goes to things like Black Lake Educational Center and helping organize

other workers to become UAW union members. It is used to pay the salaries of the national staff members located across

    the country.

The sixty percent that comes back to UAW 862, the E-board decides what is done with most of the money. If you

look towards the back of this publication you will find a financial report or a balance sheet of what we spend each month.

You will notice that we are receiving less and less money every month due to the economy. With the buyout from both

plants and the layoffs going on at LAP there is less money to spend at the Local Level. You may have heard that there will

be no picnic this year. Part of that is we need the money to spend on a new roof for the union hall on Chamberlain lane.

The Online monthly newspaper has cut back over the year. You may have noticed that we went from an all color publication

to color on front and back pages only. We have cut back on travel to and from events and are not sending as many

    people to these events.

The E-board has looked into increasing the money taken in by renting the two Union Halls to people outside the

union. This has it’s own set of problems as they are rules set up by the government that won’t allow us to turn a profit

without paying a larger tax bill that we don’t have to pay now because of our NON PROFIT status. Right now only a

UAW member can rent the Union Halls. Most of the money goes to taxes, wages paid out (secretaries and janitorial staff),

lost time paid and per diems (travel expenses). Then there are the little expenses of running a nonprofit business. There

are people that work for the Union that don’t get paid for the work they do. Most of your retirees that are in office at the

local level are not getting paid for their work.

Good info, never realized most of the dues return to our local

  15. From the meetong on the 23rd at local 600

Retrain bids hopefully going up soon to to surplus trades for elec. and sse\powerhouse. T and D may post some bids soon from buyouts. Large retrain 100+ bid to take place after all buyouts are considered and the needs are identified, Retrain bids will be high low by ford trade seniority(DOE) of laid off trade employees. Forcing into needed trades for out of zone locations will happen (pipefitters in chicago).
