  1. The transmission on my wifes escape was replaced under warranty in 12/09 the car had 7372 miles on it now at 23,000 miles I noticed the fluid is getting dark. what is the fluid changing requirements also is there any warranty time on the replacement transmission? Thanks
  2. My 71 year old neighbor has a very nice always garaged 1989 Country Squire wagon 5.0 with AOD. It has 87,000 miles on it. He was complaining that it has been doing strange things, so I took it out for a drive. It starts right up and throttle is responsive and it pulls well, but when its in third or overdrive it has a huge deadspot in the throttle. When you get the gas pedal half way down it downshifts and goes. When its in first or second it is very responsive and I am sure its not slipping in third It just has a dead pedal. Any thoughts? I put a code reader on it and it has no codes and no check engine lite. Thanks
  3. Since we changed the michlen tires on it, We have tons of traction
  4. It is probably just pulsing. I had always driven cars without all these fancy gizmo's and I am not used to it. I grew up DRIVING the car.
  5. We bought a 2009 Escape 4cyl auto new it had to have a new transmission no big deal. But My wife complained about spinning the tires on wet roads. I drove it and those OEM Michelin's have no wet traction. so this morning It had snowed about 3 inches, I had never driven it in the snow so I took it out to see how it does. I hit the brakes to let it slide some and the anti-lock brakes came on and I thought the front end was falling off, the noise was unbelievable. I drove some more to get a feel for it. and I turned on the traction control and it works. I never got used to the anti-lock brakes. I have never driven a car that made that kind of noise and brake pedal that kicked back at you.
  6. My brothers ranger has 95,000 miles 3.0 5 spd. It runs great but detonates or pings under load with regular. What can be done to get rid of this detonation? Don't want to run premium. Can the timing be adjusted? What are options? Thanks
  7. My younger brother has a ranger xlt 4wd 4.0 automatic 205,000 miles was told motor and trans rebuilt 25,000 miles ago. The issue is take off in drive and it won't shift untill about 4,000 rpm but you have to let up on gas then it shifts to what feels like 3rd or 4th gear. He also states that overdrive lite on dash lites up intermittently. He also had dealership do a fluid and filter 100 miles earlier. My guess is the trans is dieing. Any thoughts?
  8. I picked it up today. It drove fine just 2 miles to house. I popped hood at home and there is trans fluid puddle on top of trans and splash marks on fender. I guess clean up is optional on warranty work. But I did get a new trans not a new case with contaminated oil. I am content if the car goes 50,000 miles with no incidents. It will take my wife 10 years to drive that much.
  9. Ford Approved the replacement of my entire transmission instead of the left case replacement. This is a GOOD thing and if my Escape does not have any other big issues I will get rid of our Honda and buy the new F100 or Ranger when they stop arguing and build it
  10. My main concern was the contamination of metal or bronze in the trans after the replacement of the case. I just want my wife to have a vehicle that works. We paid 25,000. It should work past 5 months and 7000 miles of ownership shouldn't it
  11. My 2009 Escape 2.5 6 spd 7300 miles had the left side axle seal leak and it was intermittently shifting HARD into 3rd, the fluid looked dark not red. The dealership told me about the TSB about axle leak and the left trans case needs to be replaced. My concern is that the trans is full of metal grindings from the bad bushing and if they just RR the parts including converter won't I get a trans full of metal grindings with a new left case half? Thanks
