  1. A noise and feeling started this evening. When braking, within a moment of coming to a full stop, I hear a heavy click and feel a loose feeling in the brake pedal. It is coming from the front driver's side. Without taking anything apart, my guess is it is either a loose tie rod or a maybe a loose brake pad, etc. Braking is not effected.
  2. The issue is the dual sunroof (if you have). There likely isn't enoght space to mount an over head unit.
  3. 1) There are 6 FM stations that the system can use to play the sound through the Explorer's stereo speakers. Thus far, the reception hasn't been as clear as I would expect. Time will tell if this changes around town. 2) Both 3) Independent. They are labeled A and B. Either can play the others content or can operate independently. 4) Yes adjust the height only. 5) Yes the matching is good. 6) I haven't had a lot of time playing the system however will do so over the weekend. Pic quality seems adequate, but not as good as our past Honda Odyssey.
  4. Here is what a represntative of Ford told my wife on the Explorer Facebook page. I'm sorry to hear of your experience - it is not up to par. I can help explain a bit, I think. The Navigation/Sync booklet that was included with your owners manual should not have been included - it is for the old model nav system. We shipped about 1500 units with these booklets, but we have asked the dealers to remove them at delivery, and that clearly did not occur. All of the Nav system information for Explorer is contained within the owners manual. The new Nav system uses information from an SD card, rather than on a hard drive, so we no longer have a DVD player as part of Nav (one way we were able to reduce the price). Stacey is correct (of course) - because it is dealer-installed, it is not controlled through the My Ford Touch screen. You are also correct that Flex had a factory-installed unit. However, we had some issues with plant installation, and we have now reverted to dealer-installed units only.
  5. We bought a 2011 Limited that included DVD head rest on the factory window sticker. We did not add it on at the time of purchase. Much to our surprise, they were not factory installed, but we had to return to the dealer to have them installed. After installation we have the following observances and questions. Please respond with any information you have. 1) Despite page 69 of the supplied at time of delivery Navigation System Sync book, DVD's cannot be controlled by front Sync/Nav screen. All is controlled by hand held remote or at the DVD player itself. 2) New headrests are NOT adjustable as the stock ones were. 3) Dealer did NOT return original headrest. 4) FM modulator is poor. 5) Despite page 58 of the same book, you CANNOT play a DVD in the CD slot and view when the vehicle is parked. It will not recognize disc.
  6. My wife couldn't come to terms with the Flex exterior. I liked it. The Eco Boost in the Flex was cool. The Explorer is a very nice ride. It is super comfortable, has all the bells and whistles. Time will tell, but looks like it is a winner.
  7. Yes Ted Britt Ford. They were very easy to work with. Yes it was Tyson's Ford that sold the silver one from under me. The manager's Name was Mike Goode. I was told by him that the GM or the owner would call me back. Despite me placing more than 5 calls to them, no one has called me back. i filed a formal complaint with Ford. Apparently Mike Goode has been around the area for some time. When I was at Ted Britt I overheard a conversation that sounded like Mr. Goode was looking for another job. With practices like that, good luck.
  8. Yes if I can find one! Simple solution though. Do you know anything about a squeak in the engine compartment when warm?
  9. Obviously there are very few around, however I will take a shot. The radio reception stinks. It is difficult to get any station clearly. I have been searching the web and nothing specific to the 2011 model, but it seems that this is a common Ford issue. Thoughts?
  10. The 2nd row power fold consist of a button inside the door frame of the 2nd row doors. To gfold, you rotate the head rest forward and down, press the button once and the first half of the seat folds forward (so you can climb in back) press it again and the remainder folds. It isn't unlike the 3rd row power fold in which it is more automatic.
  11. I picked up a black/black Limited with 302A, 2nd row buckets, trailer package, moon roof, DVD, polished wheels, center console yesterday. I am in the Washington DC area. I called and called around the area last week and actually had a deal on a silver/black one at Tysons Ford. Dealer sold it from under me, long story. Called and called Thursday and stuck luck when a dealer had this one just arrive on the truck. I told him I wanted it for USAA pricing. Dealer agreed. Went in, bought it. Dealer also ate the shipping charge. $44066 plus Tax, tags, fees. Couldn't have gone better. These are trickling in, but a review of the logs shows there are a great number in transport or ready to ship. Keep up the hope!
  12. Does anyone know what the codes across the top of the sticker mean? CERT, TRD, RAMP, BUMP, CAMP, BOOK, AFV, FSCP
  13. Is there any way to track a vehicle during shipping?
  14. What is the best method of filing a complaint against a dealer?
