  1. Thanks to everyone for the responses. Let me first say i am working with the dealer. I have to say they have been GREAT - but have not been able to find the problem. This is the fourth truck I buy from them, and have always been great to deal with. My last trucks had 0 issues - nothing at all. This is why I purchased another Ford. I am not one of those who blame the dealer - having said that I also will state my case clearly and expect things to be fixed. I agree it is a little premature to get legal advice - the truck has been many times so far - trying to fix the problem. They have replaced steering shafts, and stablizer links. Tried other things - they are stumped. You can understand that your blood begins to boil every time you drive the truck and feel this clunking in the steering. Pertaining to when it occurs - does not matter. Smooth surface, rough surface, turning, going straight - various speeds. It feels as if someone is hitting the steering wheel with a hammer. They check over everything and still not able to located the problem - and they feel the same thing when they drive it (so it's not me - or my drivinig). The reason for posting - I was hoping that someone else would have a similar issue with solution/fix.
  2. Thanks for the respond. No lemon laws - live in Canada. However I am going to pursue the attorney if it does not get fixed asap. Going back in to Ford this week - let's see what they replace this time. I am also thinking of inquiring our local member of Parliament as to why we don't have lemon laws in Ontario. Maybe the time has come for change. Here is my thought - if an Automaker knows that only certain states have lemon laws - you being the auto maker - where would you make sure vehicles with "due to unforseen cercumstances - such as quality control not being up to par for whatever reason" end up? Before anyone rants and raves about quality control being the same for every vehicle off the assembly line - the comment is a general one applying to all automakers.... and no - not every Fusion, Cadillac, or whatever coming off the same assembly line has the same level of quality.
  3. Here is the problem - 2011 F150 Crew Cab, approx. 7000 km on it - recently noticed a knocking sensation in the steering wheel. I have taken it to the dealer - they replaced the entire steering shaft (including the one that comes through the fire wall). At this point they are stumped - have no idea what it is. Has anyone else heard of this issue - if so is it fixed? 2nd problem - brakes clunk in reverse. It seems as if it's the rear brakes - only do it in reverse. Feel like giving the keys back - it's very fustrating driving and feeling this clunk in the steering - does on flat, smooth surfaces. PLEASE - ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
  4. JUST purchased a 2011 Crew Cab 4x4 - ONLY 500 KM ON IT SO FAR. As mentioned in earlier posts - love the power and the sound. Just a quick question in which I appreciate some input. Sometimes - when I come to a stop I feel a little clunk - as if the truck jerks or wants to lung forward. Don't know if it's the brakes, something about the electronic transmission, or the driveline.......... Does anyone else notice this - is it normal, and if not what can it be? Any suggestions would be helpful.
  5. Thankyou for the information - great to hear because I just love the sound when you step on it. As for the MPG - I checked the tires and gearing - both the same. Has many people stumped - even the dealer.
  6. Thanks for the Grats - I ordered mine early December, came in Monday of this week. You should go to your dealer and ask for a loaner - my dealer provided a loaner for the entire time - they were excellent to deal with.
  7. You will also love your EB. The wait is well worth it. I ordered my F150 5.0 L and couldn't wait until it came in. Here is my problem - sound is great, and you just want to go with this thing! What do people usually recommend for the break in period? Does anyone know if they run synthetic from the factory - when would you perform your first oil change. I am thinking in a month (just in case their are any shavings, etc. in the oil).IT'S INTERESTING NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER TO WHY 2 TRUCKS WITH THE SAME MOTOR, DIFF, ETC. HAVE DIFFERENT RATINGS FOR MPG ON THE STICKER PRICE. WHAT IS EVERYONE ELSE AVERAGING WITH THEIR 5.0 L - PLEASE SHARE.
  8. Milage - still too new - only plut 70 kms on it - but it does not seem bad - will let you know after the weekend. As for the sound - WOWWWWWWWW - I love the sound much better thatn the eco-boost, (ecoboost is a wonderful motor - just wasn't for me) - inside the cab, the truck sounds like the old MUSCLE CAR - I love listening to it - especially during shifts and acceleration. This is my 1st crew cab - my other one was an Extended Cab - ride is a little more bumpy - but keep in mind I also ordered mine with the LT Tires which gives it a different feel than the regular car tires "P" rated tires. The only thing I questioned and no one seems to have an answer is why 2 truck with the same motor, etc. have different MPG ratings on the sticker price on the window. Take a look at my post titled "Window Sticker Fuel Consumption" http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/43347-window-sticker-fuel-consumption-help/ Good luck with your decision - both engines are great choices.
  9. Yes....the wait is over, my truck came in today. Thanks to the feedback provided on this forum - greatly appreciated. Eco-boost trucks are also in the dealer lots - very nice truck - but I preferred the 5.0 L Ordered the 5.0 L in the Crew Cab - Metallic Gray - looks sharp. What a ride - one thing I noticed - the oil pressure gauge moves a little from a stop to highway speed and again drops if you are cruising at highway speed and slow down - is this normal? Thanks
  10. Nope - can't be - if that was true, the truck with the LT tires would get worse milage, however this is not the case. The only thing I can see that is different is - if you look up at the top left corner of the sticker price - you will notice any f150 that has a code above the CERT adn TRD section (looks like a section with boxes) - if a F150 has any value above these boxes, then the milage is noted as 26 mp/g. Really want an answer on this one - please provide any information you may have. The Dearbron workers must know what these codes mean. Thanks
  11. That's what I thought - but then I found one with a 5.5' bed that also states 26 mp/g take a look at this one http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FTFW1EF8BFA22985&refid=DC&hash=c71b2feb51261d727b84a19e341ad5b5&pacode=B8165&modelid=220 vs http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FTFW1EF3BFA00960&refid=DC&hash=673b4e667e4ecf79fdaca5f8cf88ef&pacode=A8017&modelid=220
  12. Here are 2 links for 2 seperate window stickers (hopefully links work). Any information/hlep would be great. http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FTFW1EF0BFA51798&refid=DC&hash=d0ffe23789d7f1959f3ee3f770f528da&pacode=A8017&modelid=220 http://www.inventory.ford.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FTFW1EF3BFA00960&refid=DC&hash=673b4e667e4ecf79fdaca5f8cf88ef&pacode=A8017&modelid=220 Thanks for the help.
  13. Just a quick question - looking at several trucks with same engine, same options, same everything BUT the fuel consumptions guide is different by 1mi/gal on them. Yes.... I know it's only 1mi/gal - I'm just wondering why? Anyone know?
  14. I may be wrong, but from what i understand, the "max tow package" is only available with the Ecoboost engine - don't understand why - or what else it involves. However, the 5.0 L should be plenty for your needs.
  15. Greg - thanks for your feedback - can't wait until it comes in. The wait is tooooooo long.
  16. This is why I love this site - you get more information than anywhere else. I recently oreder an 2011 XTR - with the limited slip - after the fact I wondered if I should have ordered the "off-road" option. I don't go rock climbing, or any "major" off-roading. That being said, I am now sure (for my needs) I ordered the right option. Since we have alot of snow in the winters, to me - limited slip would be much better than on open rear end. This means FX4 owners may find themselves putting the truck into 4 wheel drive more often - does it not? Wonder why Ford didn't put the same option as the Raptor on every rear end on the F150's - allowing you to lock it in 2 wheel drive.
  17. Now that's classic - thanks for the laugh.
  18. Thanks for the information. BUT let me make one thing clear. I did NOT blow something out of porportion, as per the picture - it is a link - technically everyone reads every forum - but NOT EVERYONE is to comment or post on certain forums. That is why I posted the question on this page. Second - the only trucks I have owned are Fords - it's MY MONEY - and it's a fair chunk of change when you are buying a new truck, therefore one has the right to ask questions and be educated and express thier CONCERNS! It's not as if nobody has ever lied to the customer before for fears of loosing sales - ya right - it happens every day (and no I am not talking about Ford specifically - it's all manufacturers, and if you don't agree with this point, then Wow ....) If I am getting sqeamish - I certainly will not buy a Dodge, I may look for a 2009 or 2010 Ford, and wait another year for the 5.0. Thank you for the information you provided about the crankshafts. This information is GREATLY appreciated.
  19. Can someone please just give us a little more information - the truth would be great! I am waiting for my 2011 F150 Crew Cab 4x4 - and I am thinking about pulling out - cancelling. What is the issue with the F150's - is it the eco-boost that has shut down the plant, is it the 5.0 or is it both. Is the problem with parts or QUALITY? If you do a little digging in other forums - you will also come across this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/damagedone37/OldPics/0121010958.jpg To me this tells me they have major issues with the production of the 5.0! I have always owned Ford, but have they dropped the ball? Am I going to regret buying this truck? Please share.
  20. Sounds like a great combination - do you know if you get the fender flares with the off-road package. I am told only FX4 and Lariat have them.
  21. Just a quick question - with all this talk about plows - and the capability of the F150 handling one with electric steering - does the electric steering have any impact on towing? Also - will the electric steering or alternator have difficulty if .....say you were using your front tow hooks on a somewhat regular basis (hypethically speaking)?
  22. I can't help but wonder why Ford did not place the same BEAUTIFUL cover on the engine that the Mustang has - which includes the chrome "5.0" . The engine in the F150 seems naked. Please - place them on the F150 - and if you do - make them available to those of us who stuck LOYAL and already purchased the F150 5.0 L. Thanks
  23. Agreed, however, I need the 60/40 split bench in the front - taking the kid's friends to the cottage, etc. Otherwise I would definitely go with the FX4 - I wonder if you can get the FX4 with the 60/40 - maybe special order (but that would probably take 6 months to get)
  24. Actually - talking about both. I am told Ford no longer includes the outside Fender Flares on the XTR. Also - if you look inside the inner fender lining (black plastic that protects the motor from the elements) - it seems as if the motor is very exposed. When I look at my 2001 XLT/XTR - they have so much protection - you can't see the motor. I worry if mud, salt, sand, snow, etc, etc, etc, will get up there and cause damage.
