  1. Has anyone dug into the aftermarket options for adding the remote start to these trucks yet? Based on some recon I believe that the Ford remote start they offer only starts the truck and does not operate the heat/ac/defrost? It also requires another Fob. I am looking for the remote start/alarm/starter lock out and the ability to have the heater/defrost running after it starts.

Ford offers 2 different remote starts for 2011. One has a separate fob and is a two way system with longer range. The other style is built into the key along with the door lock/unlock. From the owners manual, it looks to me like either one will automatically turn on the ac/defrost depending on the outside temp.

I plan on adding the key integrated type when my new truck arrives.

  2. For 2011, the factory remote start/alarm is an all in one key and will control the heated/cooled seats and rear defrost, but is available only on FX4 and up. f150online has some posts on adding a starter for trucks that didn't have one.

You can also add the factory remote start it as an aftermarket option. Part number:

    BC3Z-19G364-A

Also requires a hood switch. Part number:

    BL3Z-19G366-A

Most likely would need to have dealer install because I think the computer has to be reprogrammed to work with it.

  3. I do not understand this crap I have been hearing from people lately of dealers supposedly not wanting to share their dealer code. WTF? That pisses me off and is clear to me that the dealership is totally clueless to their own daily business.

Yes that second number you provided is in the format of a dealer code and is probably correct. Before I tell you anything can you tell me the name of the dealership so I can in fact determine your correct order? Thanks. I don't want to tell you the wrong information.

    XXXX XXXX XXXXXX

    Thank you very much.

-edited to remove name to protect the innocent and the not so innocent. Thanks again cyberdman!

  4. No such dealer code.

I apologize. That number is on my DORA. I assumed it was the dealer code. I asked my dealer to confirm that was their code, and they told me that the were unwilling to share their code with me. Annoying, but not worth trying to find a different dealer over.

I did notice that on the vehicle order confirmation the business manager had me sign, it listed the dealer code as:

    F74434.

If it's not too much of a hassle, would you try that one? Order on the DORA is 1001, on the VOC it was 0000, but that was produced just to give me final pricing a few days before I actually placed the order.

Truck is an F150 XLT Supercrew 4x4 Ecoboost.

If you don't want to spend time trying to hunt for the truck, I totally understand and I'll wait until I have a VIN to request tracking.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  5. Make sure you are selecting the 3.73LS rear axle on the first page where you are selecting the engine. Its optional (but required for Max Tow) on the Ecoboost. Its standard on the 6.2, so its probably changing to that one when you select 6.2 first then go to the EB. If you go straight to the EB, its leaving it with the 3.55 axle, so the Max Trailer Tow isn't available.

  6. 1970 Mach I 351c shaker, 2008 GT500, 2006 F250 Amarillo, 2006 F350 DRW King Ranch, 2011 Expedition Limited, and now a 2011 Raptor crewcab when it gets here!! Can anyone tell me how to track my VIN#

    1FTFW1R60BFA74511, I'm getting very antsy.

Welcome. I'm new here too, but my understanding is that you first need to get to 10 posts on BlueOvalForums. Then head to this forum, read the rules post at the top, and then ask (nicely) for your VIN to be tracked.

If I'm mistaken, maybe someone else can advise both of us.

  7. Maybe with all the new development in batteries and local production it's time to look at a hybrid pick up again. I really think there's a lot of potential for using the truck to obviate the need for a generator on a construction site (no need to buy one, no need to haul one around). My city runs a huge fleet of F-150's, and they spend all their time in city traffic, they'd really benefit with something like this if it could nab 30mpg city - not unreasonable with the Escape getting 34mpg city. If they're building gas, electric and hybrid Focuses all out of the same plant, it'd be great to see them get as much flexibility out of Kentucky, but I guess that might be a ways off.

I think the future for trucks is in hydraulic hybrid technology, not battery based.

  8.

I go boating 2-4 times a week. Only the “peeps” with Ford’s “do not lose their keys in the River”. Poor guys with Chevy’s Dodge’s and Toyota’s always say, man I wish my truck had that when they lose their keys again! And they lose their keys several times a year.

I ordered the keypad on my new truck specifically for this reason. But I often head out to places 3 or 4 hours from home (and the nearest locksmith), so I started to think, what if my battery goes dead while I'm boating or camping? Is there any way to get the hood open for a jump without getting inside first? I'm assuming no, so I guess the next question is, which window is cheapest to replace?
