  1. Thanks Dedonut for thinking about me.

Well yesterday was a wonderful day. Blue sky's and not a worry in the world.

Was at the dealer by 10AM to pickup my MKX. No problems and drove it home.

It's sad I can't add any pictures here but did on the Facebook MKX page.

Today and tomorrow have planned 2 trips. Today will only be around 100 miles and tomorrow 250 miles.

So I figure at highway speeds I will get accustom driving my new MKX. I guess I will let the DW drive a bit. lol

I have the phone hooked up as well as my home wifi.

Now I still have a few things I still have to learn and checkout.

Question: Does the 3.7L transmission have a dip stick? Dealer and I were unable to find one.

Maybe this transmission is a sealed system?

LOL re: dip stick. I'm sure it must but I would only care about one if it had an app and was accessible on-screen! And LOL re: Kirby and reading the manual cover to cover. Think I'll wait until they make it into a movie. Actually, they have, in a way. Lots of videos on how things work.

  2.

How much did they charge for the doc fee? And did you still get the $1250 incentive on top of that price?

Doc fee was $80. and I actually got $2,250 in incentives. I misspoke when I said $1,250. The contract states: The agreed upon value of the vehicle, as equipped, at the time of signing the lease is: $55,350. The incentives and my down washed out costs like the capitalized cost reduction, Reg & Acquisition fees, title fees, etc. Keep in mind that I'm leasing not buying.

  3. I don't have a X-Plan number so I guess I can't get it.

I know they have $500 incentive but I have a few more things up my sleeve.

They only took $750 off msrp plus the Ford Conquest money which is -$500.

That won't get it for me so it may be a long afternoon.

I want at least $2,500 off MSRP as that seems what is going on around the country.

    Any magic ideas?

Can only tell you of my experience. I was set to do X-Plan but I asked my sales rep to print out the DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement) for me. My MSRP was $59,735.-1250 incentives . loaded w/everything except padded rear seat belts, tow package and enhanced security. X-Plan was $56,185.77. They gave it to me for invoice of $55,577.31.

  4. Thanks Dedonut.

Yes we are heading over to the dealer this afternoon to see and drive my MKX. No firm price set yet so it will be a few hours of chit chat. lol

Have you asked them about the X-Plan? Also, I think it was Kirby who said about $500. over invoice is fair plus you can try to negotiate the document fee if that looks high.

  5. It really comes down to how much you prefer the styling of one over the other and whether you like the additional features on the MKX that much better than the Edge.

It does come down to preference and I believe there's a big difference in interior quality. So ... what do you want to look at? You may not get all your money back but some of it was exchanged for quality and enjoyment while you have it. If it was all about buying the cheapest model for the price, they would only make one. There are no pockets in shrouds. Enjoy your MKX, Iggy, today's the day you get it. Tomorrow is my day. :-)

  6. Having considered both I'm still feeling spending $10,000 more for the MKX Reserve with Sync 3 instead of the upcoming 2016 EDGE w/Sync 3

I'd like to hear your opinions on the value or not.

    Technology in each.

    Quality in each

What I'm looking to hear is my future buy of the MKX worth the extra money if they are closely the same instead of body shape?

Your opinion is worthy to hear.

    Thanks

Iggy- I just sent you a PM tis morning asking if I ever sent my answer to you? I found a reply in Draft email that I wrote back on Jan. 8th! Sorry. I PMd my reply.

  7. I checked the both CNX and UP phone tracking this morning. The UP response on the railcar was a bit garbled and I couldn't understand the city/town but it's in IL. The report says it's is due in Industry (I assume it's referring to City of Industry, CA outside LA?) on Jan 12.

I guess CNX doesn't track their cars all the way to the destination ... unless the destination is the hookup with UP. CNX said yesterday the car was in Indiana after having been in IL the day before. Now it says 'no status', I'm assuming because UP has it now.

  8. Just as an FYI - you can try tracking your MKX via the tracker here:

    http://lincolnmkxforum.com/topic/961-mkx-order-tracking/

Thank you Robert. I tried that several times ... both ways. I have the order # and dealer code. What I get is No matching vehicle found. Please verify your input and try again.

I've signed the paperwork and now just waiting for the car to arrive. Oddly enough, the car now shows as 'sold' so my dealership can no longer track it.

  9. I've been tracking the slow movement of my car from Oakville, Ontario on 12/31/15 as far west as Blue Island, IL. yesterday. Today I checked and it's in Gibson, IN.!! Going the wrong way. The railcar numbers don't seem to work when I call UP. I have the railcar letters and numbers. Am I missing something that allows that info to translate from CNX to UP? I thought someone posted earlier ... somewhere ... that CNX tracks the shipment to destination even after UP picks it up?

  10. If you have access to X plan pricing then that's pretty much set in stone. You might be able to negotiate a tiny bit lower but not much.

Thanks, I'll tell them I don't want to pay the doc fee (at least all of it) and see where that goes. Will let you know if I have any luck. The car was supposed to be in between the 27th and 31st but apparently has been released but not yet shipped. I'm having to extend my Lexus lease so it's costing me money for every month I have to keep it. They're aware of that but I'll remind them.

  11. Aha

So, how much wiggle room do I have? All discussions have been centered around X plan pricing which I've done before with this dealer. The car will come in and I'll decide if I like it. It's a color I haven't seen yet on this model. Can I negotiate anything down from X plan and incentives (which end 1/4), e.g., the doc fee, or try to get a better deal than X plan? We talked about X plan pricing but nothing has been signed.

  12. Mapquest uses a "Send to Sync" feature.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. I like that feature and I use mapquest.

Are you talking about the 'send to email' or 'send to mobile number'? Lexus sends it to the destination app on the Nav. system. I've done the map quest 'email my directions' and then couldn't open it w/o an internet connection! That didn't help at all. Is there something else I didn't see?

  13. I have a loaded 2016 MKX and the only fit & finish issues I have are with the passenger headlight not fitting flush with the fender, it's a fairly substantial gap but it's not enough for me to bother with it since it's a lease. I also notice that the passenger side front window 'corner' sticks out quite a bit relative to the rest of the trim, but I only notice this when I walk down the stairs in my garage so it's possibly an intentional design. The interior looks great to me, haven't found any problems although I noticed quite a few interior fit issues in the early builds of the MKX. I have noticed some rattling/creaking around the front cowl which looks like it should creak (cheap piece of coarse hard plastic), one is by the driver side which is particularly annoying since it's more of a persistent buzzing rattle (like a loose speaker) but it's not consistently there.

I love my MKX, tremendous fun to drive and very smooth and quiet, nice improvement over my last MKX. The 2.7L EB is a little buzzy at low speeds compared to the 3.7 I'm use to but it's quieter and more powerful at speed, it seems to smooth out after running about 10 minutes. I'm not sure I'll buy another one yet mostly because I feel more cramped in this car than my last MKX because it sits so much lower with a lower roofline and I'm kinda tall. I'll probably get use to it but I want to move up to a larger and taller Crossover, possibly the XC90 which is priced the same.

Thanks, Borg. Your info is really helpful because it's specific to the year and model, and adds to the generic list of things we should look for.

  14. I just received in the mail a Ford brochure with a $750 coupon when you buy a new Ford or Lincoln if you take delivery before Dec 24, 2015

It has my name on the brochure and says its name specific and can be duplicated.

Can not be used with A/Z/D plans.

It says " Note to Dealer: Claim in Vincent using #35152 and customers ID"

I guess I need to take it in to my Lincoln dealer when my car arrives prior to 12/24 and see if he will give it to me also.

I have only given a deposit and no final contract deal has been written yet.

    Has anyone else got this?

    Iggy

I haven't gotten anything yet but, apparently, it'll be good for X-Plan deals. Tell the dealer you received the coupon. Don't ask IF they'll honor it. If all the details of the coupon meet what you're doing then expect it and tell them you want it. No doubt, the dealer will be reimbursed.

When I bought the 2013 MKZ, Ford sent me a promo for a weekend or a really fine gift ... my choice. I chose the weekend for when I was going to be traveling anyway. I took two nights, for two people, with full breakfast, at a 5 star hotel in Atlanta. I was able to select from a long list of fine hotels that participated. It was great!

  15. I was hoping that the folks that are here with more car knowledge than I have could help.

I have read here "Fit and Finish" used after they purchased a new car.

I do understand that the hood and door seams need to be closely the same distance and level but wonder what else should I look for in a 2016 MKX.

But what else should I look closely at and what should I look for?

    Thanks Iggy

Iggy-Unfortunately, I don't know much about some of these things either but I Google everything. I found these:

  16. 2016 MKX with Sync 3 UPDATE from Dealer - Friday Dec 11.2015

Well after a few days the dealer called and we hope they had the car from the other dealership and ready for pickup.

He said we thought the car arrived at the other dealership 200 miles north of me.

In actuality the car was still in transit by train and has not arrived. LOL

He is now trying to get the train to drop it off here in Phoenix and says it should be here before Christmas. Let's hope or my wife is going to be totally pissed.

So bare with me folks on the ongoing saga of the 2016 MKX with Sync 3 trying to make it to the warm state of Arizona. LOL

This is about trucks and has been around awhile but I believe it also applies to cars. If you can get the info from your dealer, you can find out just where your vehicle is right now.
