  1. @DEREKC, I'm sure you will love the car. I was tempted to wait on the 2012 model, but after looking for a while and having to share a vehicle I was just ready to finally buy one. I haven't seen a lot of what they are going to be doing, but what I have seen looks really great. I even like the two-tone seats with the black and white leather, very unique, but kind of cool, in my opinion. @MKII, thank you, I will definitely check those out!
  2. @aneekr, thanks so much. I am absolutely loving it. I couldn't be happier :hyper: I'm getting a little more used to the gas, I'm still hitting 3rpms, but I'm trying to be a little lighter on the pedal and it seems to be better. So I think that will come with more experience, now it is just getting some miles on it so the shifting gets better. The ride is perfect, very comfortable at higher speeds, but at lower speeds, i.e. through a parking lot, it is constantly shifting. Thanks for the info on Sync, I really don't know how I missed that. I was on Ford's site looking for it and must have looked over it. I think I'm going to turn off the ability to receive/send texts from my phone to be on the safe side and then give some of the features a try. Thanks for all the info!
  3. Thanks so much, I'm definitely happy I ended up deciding on the Fiesta. I love it so far and learn new things I love about it each day! I am getting more used to how the car drives, it will just take some time after driving the other car for several months. I feel like once I get some speed the car is fine, but it is getting there that takes a little getting used to. Not only in terms of how much pressure to apply and things, but that is when I really feel the car shifting. I will see how it feels once I have put some miles on it... with my driving that will likely take a while :D I will look into the Sync website. I have not registered because I was thinking if it worked through text I wouldn't even use it. But, if there is no charge then I might as well take advantage. I'm definitely liking the sync when it comes to making calls in the car. I would never talk on the phone when I was driving I would always make calls before or after I would drive, or if the conversation went a little long sit in the car and wait. But now it is nice because I can just hop in the car and take off. It was a feature I never thought I would use, but it comes in handy. I decided on the blue, SE hatchback. I was going to go with the green because I have always loved green, but I was a little nervous that down the road I would want something a little more mild. I like the blue a lot as well, so it all works out! I was also thinking about going with the sedan to save the money, but it actually ended up working out that the hatchback ended up costing less than a lower priced sedan when we were done. I like the hatchback a little more (though I like the chrome grill on the sedan) so that worked out well. I would have loved to go up to the top model because I liked all the extra chrome and loved the wheel covers, but I decided the SE had more than enough features for me... plus I'm getting ambient lights installed as soon as they are delivered, so I'm excited about that!!! Thanks again for the info!
  4. Well, I did it :happy feet: I finally bought my Fiesta. Surprisingly, I handled it much better than I thought I would. I'm not cheap, but when it comes to bigger buying decisions I really try to think everything out to make sure I'm making the right decision. Since a car is the biggest decision I have ever made, I thought I would have a really hard time, but I'm loving it. So far, I love the car, I really think I made the right decision. The only problem I'm having right now is getting used to the gas pedal. It is so completely different than my dads can and it is taking a lot to get used to it. It seems like I either push too hard when I start or not hard enough and I barely move. It is also a lot different because in his car if you let go of the gas the car would continue at the same speed for quite some time, the Fiesta tends to drop in speed pretty quickly once you let off the gas. So, I'm getting used to when to let off the gas, how far ahead to break, etc. It also feels a lot different to me because I'm used to the CVT engines right now, so feeling all the shifts takes some getting used to again. Once I get all that down, I think I will be 100% happy. This situation has brought up one question I have. When I accelerate, after a light, stop sign, etc. it seems like the car is either up to 3,000 RPMs to get going at a decent speed. If I accelerate any slower than that, I barely move and I feel like I'm going to get rear-ended. Does this seem about right to be up to that many RPMs after stopping? I feel like it is really going to hurt my fuel economy if I continue this way, but I can't seem to get going any other way. Again, I'm used to my dads car where I never had to go above 3,000, so I'm not sure if it is me or the car. Just curious what everyone else's experience has been. My other question is about Sync. The dealer told me that if you include Sync in the car then there are no other fees to use it. But, the way I understand it online you have to pay for text messages when you use turn by turn, traffic reports, etc. Is this correct? I don't text and don't have any texting packages on my phone, so if I do this it could end costing me quite a bit. So, I just wanted to make sure before I try any of it so I don't have a surprise with my next bill. I'm thinking about getting the iPhone now that Verizon has it, but I'm not sure yet. The dealer said Sync will work with some of the apps and things, so I thought it may be fun to use more of syncs features. But, for now I'm just curious how it will work with my current situation. Thanks again to everyone for all your help in helping me to decide on the Fiesta. I'm very happy right now with it!
  5. I was looking at the Focus the other day and was really impressed with how much they changed it this year. I was looking at them back when the Fiesta was released (at that point you couldn't find them on the lots and the dealer I was working with at the time said try to the Focus they are basically the same) and was not impressed at all. Now, I think they look quite nice. While the extra room would be nice, I just don't think it is worth the extra price, for me. I don't really need the extra space and it was still a few thousand dollars difference.
  6. Thanks for the links. I'm kind of hitting a dead end with the dealer right now, so this may be a good option!
  7. @fordmantpw, thanks for the info. I kind of figured that is what the issue is, but when you are ready to sign the papers and read in 25% of the reviews you find that the engine had to be replaced, it is kind of nerve wracking. So, since reading that I just wanted to try and look into it more and try to figure out what the situation was. @DEREKC, thank you so much for sharing this. I had read somewhere that someone mentioned Ford had put out a notice about the paint, but never seen it mentioned anywhere else. This definitely makes me feel better about the situation. I had read that the Fiesta has been out since, '79 I think, so I knew that would be a positive, but always figured that the transition to North America would be a pretty big one. I was hoping that since the car had been out for a little while here now they may have fixed some of the issues, but some of the reviews I were reading were from April. I appreciate the info though, that really makes me feel a lot better. I am not a member of Sam's Club or Costco, I may have to look into that. I'm not sure how could of a deal you could get on something like the Fiesta, but it never hurts to try. @akirby, that was one of the benefits because the payment is quite a bit less than if I were to finance it because the interest is quite high right now. I already had some figures planned out for what I want to spend a month on the car payment, insurance and gas. If I financed it I was planning to put any extra toward the principal to pay it off early. But, I figure with the lease I can put it in the bank, when the lease is up I can put that money towards the balance and just pay the rest of it off. I don't have the figures in front of me right now but I think leasing vs. buying is nearly $2,000 less in the end. If i were to refinance in the end it would probably end up costing more and I don't want to have payments that long on an inexpensive car, so I wouldn't want to do that. But, it seems like leasing will work out for me, from what you said, so I think that will probably be what I do. Thanks so much to all of you for posting your comments. It definitely makes me feel better about my decision. I'm 99% sure the Fiesta is the right car for me now... now it is just a matter of signing the papers
  8. Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of buying my first car. I'm currently driving my dads Chrysler LHS. While it works just fine, it isn't the best when it comes to fuel economy, it is a really large car and we just need to get another car. So, this is all brand new to me and my head is spinning at this point. I have looked at a lot of different cars, i.e. Nissan Cube, Kia Soul, Honda CRZ, Civic Coupe, Fit, Insight, Hyundai Elantra, Accent, Mazda 2, SmartForTwo, Toyota Prius, etc. the list goes on. Basically, I'm just wanting an inexpensive car that will be reliable to get me from point A to B, but also gets good fuel economy... if it looks good in the process, that doesn't hurt either! So, after looking at all of those cars I pretty much have decided the Fiesta is the car that is likely the best fit for me... which is funny because it is one of the cars I originally wanted but when I started looking at them you couldn't even find one on the lots. So, after all this time I'm back to the idea of the Fiesta. So, I'm in the process of working with the dealer right now and trying to get a decent deal from them for what I want. I'm ready to buy the car, my plan is actually to go tomorrow and purchase it. I went last night to see it again since it had been a while since I last seen it and I had been trying other cars as well. I decided to wait to buy it so I could look into it some more. When I got home I started looking up reviews and while the majority of them were very positive, I can't help but notice the fact all the negative reviews are regarding the same issue, the engine, needing replaced. Needless to say, this has kind of made me nervous and question whether or not the car is going to be reliable. I'm still a pretty new driver, so I don't have a lot of experience and I don't know if I could handle a situation if the car were to stall or something. My mom spoke with the dealer and they said that they have not had any Fiesta's come in to be serviced for an engine issues. My question is, how common is this problem and is it something I really need to be concerned about and how common is it... or is it possibly something that been resolved more recently. Also, I know a lot of people have mentioned having the problem and having the engine replaced, but I haven't heard anyone say what has happened after it was replaced. Did this seem to fix the issue or are there still problems. One other question is regarding leasing the car. My family has never leased a vehicle, so we don't know how they all work out, but all the dealers have said this would likely be the best option for me because the payments would be lower and even if I decide to buy it out at the end, I would be paying less for the car buy leasing than if I were to finance. The limited mileage is not an issue or anything like that and I don't know of any other things I should be concerned about. Is leasing a good option or is it something that I should avoid? I think that basically covers all my questions. I was honestly ready to sign the papers tomorrow but now I'm nervous that I'm making the wrong decision with a car that isn't going to be reliable. Thanks so much and I appreciate any help you can give me!
