  1. I was considering transferring so that is why I looked into everything and I just thought I would share the info that I received. For different reasons i will not be going to LAP. I would not be able to sell my house for what it's worth and have kids in middle and high school that don't want to leave. I heard that almost 300 signed from AAI and they were under the impression they will get good jobs in the plant. Just giving a heads up that is all! Good luck to those that can go with nothing holding them back!
  2. Everyone's situation is different...a lot of people think because they have a lot of seniority they are going to walk into a lower seniority plant and get the best jobs but that may not be the case. For me personally, I only make decisions if it is in the best interest for my entire family. Taking everything into consideration it will be very difficult to sell your house in Michigan and having two mortgages is a little scary.
  3. Yes, that is the way it is, you are right! That was one of the reasons for my post. I have been hearing a lot of people who are talking about signing say that should get a good job at LAP because they have so much seniority but that may not be the case. Just wanting everyone to make an informed decision!
  4. I don't care what you do! I know a lot of people think they wont get stuck in trim but it could happen and there are stamping and a lot of jobs off line so no not all jobs are assembly. So, like I said call Steve Stone of Jeff Hale to verify. It does stink... I feel they should wait and go by seniority but they always protect their own before transfers come in. As for following your job, I think you might be right that is the way it should be! It's your job, but I would still call union to verify. I have been a member for many years but have never posted before and I forgot my username and password so I rejoined...if that matters at all.
  5. To all those that have signed or are considering signing to transfer to LAP...It is my understanding that all the jobs were allowed to be bid on by current LAP employees and that most of the preferential jobs have been filled. So most of those that have signed to transfer will most likely be doing assembly work. Also they have an agreement their called "Right to Recall" which means that if you are laid off it goes by work record (awol, problem child, pot stirrers, etc.) regardless of seniority. If you doubt any of this or have questions just contact Jeff Hale (Bargainer) or Steve Stone (Chairman). I am just wanting to make sure you are all making an "informed" decision.
