  1. Hi.....looked at all of the angles for Ky, and decided to stay put. Like you, I could not take the loss on my house (my mother in law was going to go with us, but she had the same dilemma), plus my mom is sick (a lot of praying for her). The best decision is to stay. Thanks for your post. Hope you and your family are all well!!

  2. Thanks for all of the input.....I weighed out all of the options, and did a lot of praying, and I'm staying put.....for now. Now is not the best thing for my family. I appreciate the info, and I will file it away. With the contract talks coming up, I know that the company tries to play everything close to the vest, and pit locals against each other, witht hopes of landing a product. We know that they know where every vehicle is going (they plan things out years in advance), and they love to see the locals get all stirred up (some will sell their soul to "gain" a product, when it was scheduled to go to them all along). What we need to do, as UAW members is pop Ford in the mouth, and make a stand for our families, and ourselves. We've gone 8 years without a raise, we gave huge concessions, and we saw the company take care of salaried workers with one hand, and smack us in the face with the other. Look out for "big signing bonuses" in this new deal (Mullaly is trying to tie monies owed to us into the next contract under the disguise of a signing bonus....the union won an arbitrator's ruling on a grievance, and Ford does not want to pay us for that.....I have no proof of this, but I believe there is still some profit sharing money out there that we were all shorted, and these two amounts would/could be offered as a signing bonus.....Mullaly is a sneaky snake). Enough rambling......Hey Jeff, our tag relief people do not make any more than anyone else. There were some discussions, but only the Team Leader/Tag Relief Operator makes more....he/she is considered a Team Leader, and elected to the position. Again, thank you to all who gave input here.
  3. Thanks......but there's a little more to it. The plant I work in has 3 classifications for rate of pay. A regular hourly employee makes 28.585 per hour, a team leader makes about 58 cents an hour more, and skilled trades make almost $5 per hour more. Some plants have different wages for regular hourly employees. A guy that works the line makes one amount, while a hi-lo driver may make another rate. My question is, what is the rate of pay for hourly people in these two plants? Is there a discrepancy between different jobs, or does everyone make the same base rate (except for T/L's and skilled trades)?
  4. With the opportunities to leave your current plant and head off to start a new life in Ky, has anyone heard about the payscale or have you seen a seniority list? I know it's a great opportunity, but make sure it's the right choice for you. Cost of living is lower there than in the Detroit area, so that's a big plus......30,000 for moving is sweet, too. I just hope this isn't a grass is greener scenario.
