  1. Some more great games this week. #7 Oklahoma State at #8 Texas A &M, #14 Arkansas vs. #3 Alabama, #2 LSU at #16 West Virginia, #11 Florida State vs. #21 Clemson. Even San Diego State vs. Michigan looks good as well as Western Michigan Broncos vs. #24 Illinois.
  2. There were a lot of good games this weekend. Atlanta over Philadelphia 35-31, Buffalo with a come from behind over Oakland, 38-35, Tampa Bay also coming from behind to beat Minnesota, 24-20 and the same with Green Bay over Carolina. Then a few squeakers with Washington beating Arizona and Denver beating Cincinnati. How about Tony Romo's performance against San Fransisco? Great week of games.
  3. Man, was that the Lions? Incredible, they usually are on the other end of a whooping. Keep it going and this will be an incredibly exciting season.
  4. Yes he can and he notches #24 today. Great game pitching and the A's starting pitcher, Guillermo Moscoso, pitched great as well.
  5. Verlander goes for #24 today at 4 P.M. Right after the Lions game. Perfect timing.
  6. The Lions go for their second win today at home vs. KC Chiefs. This should be a win, but you can't take anything for granted. It would be great to be there for the season opener.
  7. Oklahoma and FSU was great. A lot of action and very exciting. There were some upsets of the top 25 teams--#17 Ohio State lost at Miami, 24-6 and #15 Michigan State lost at Notre Dame, 31-13. #21 Auburn got crushed by Clemson, 38-24, but probably the biggest surprise was Illinois beating #22 Arizona State by a score of 17-14.
  8. Sometimes I wander from the sports area to see what my fellow Ford hourly workers are saying. This is an interesting post. I have commented in the bold above. What you end up doing will impact my livelihood and that of the rest of the salaried employees. I wish you the best and hope you get as much as you can because that will trickle into my area. OK, back to sports.
  9. Porcello and Scherzer can't continue their Jekyll/Hyde pitching starts and hope the Tigers can win a playoff series. Only Verlander and Fister are solid so far.
  10. I agree. Just finished watching the second half of MSU--Notre Dame. Notre Dame looked good and took advantage of MSU turnovers. But, boy did Notre Dame turn the ball over, too. Hopefully, Oklahoma--FSU will be a good one.
  11. Yes, I have been busy. I hope the Tigers go all the way. Getting ready to watch MSU-Notre Dame.
  12. This week's must see game of the week has to be #1 Oklahoma vs. #5 Florida State in Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday at 8 P.M. on national TV. Also, #3 LSU plays #25 Mississippi State at 8 P.M. tonight. #15 Michigan State vs. Notre Dame at 3:30 P.M. Saturday could be another good game.
  13. What an ending to today's game. Two pinch hit HR's in the top of the ninth. The last time the same time had two pinch hit HR's in one inning was in 1958. In this case it was back to back HR's--From the Baseball Reference archives: "I posed this question to the PI (using the batting event finder, searching for homeruns by all teams and filtering for "innings 10+" and pos. "PH". The game tot section then tells you if there were more than 1 in a game) and found only one other game since 1952. On June 4, 1958 the Giants, who at one point lead the Braves 7-1, were trailing 9-7 with 2 outs in the bottom of the tenth. However, in a series of moves that had to have made manager Bill Rigney look like a genius, Hank Sauer and Bob Schmidt hit back to back pinch hit home runs to tie the game. The Giants ended up losing an inning later, but since then there has never been 2 extra inning pinch hit home runs by one team in a single game ." So, 53 years between these events. Pretty historic.
  14. The Tigers are on an amazing roll. They haven't won this many games in a row since 1968. No Tiger pitcher has won 11 in a row since 1946. They are the closest team to winning their division. I hope this trend continues to a World Series victory.
  15. I really appreciate how Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the NCAA football games honored our 9-11 heroes and those who lost their lives on that tragic day this weekend. I remember how quickly Major League Baseball got back to playing after 9-11-2001--even in New York City--to show that we could and would carry on after this terrible attack on our soil. I am glad to live in America where we have it relatively easy compared to the rest of the world. I am also glad that our athletes and their organizations have taken time to proudly honor the country in which we live.
