  1. Nope...they are in the basement. Light did come on near the end of a 20 drive down the highway but then when the car was restarted a few hours later it was off again (4 days ago) and has not come back on since....strange, but I'm not really complaining
  2. ....interesting....2 days with winter tires/no TPMS and no light has come on and traction control is still switchable
  3. Just bought a set of mounted winter tires and steel rims from a previous Focus owner..no TPMS and will just have to deal with the light being on. I did not want to use the 18" rims as winter tires are stupidly overpriced for that size. Thanks for the replies guys!!
  4. I know the TPMS is for so called safety issues but I refuse to pay an extra $200+ for new sensors for my winter tires. Question is, can i run without them and only have to deal with a dash light being on or will it prevent me from driving over a certain speed like some GM cars? (so I've been told)
  5. Turned out the E coat was the issue. It did not adhere properly and caused it to drip. Moisture under the drip caused corrosion to start. All fixed...so much for the expert dealership moron telling me I had chipped the paint
  6. 2014 Focus....... 7 rust bubbles developed on the seam on the hatch and 1 blister has popped exposing bare metal. It is clearly a rust/corrosion issue but 2 guys at the ford dealership insist it is a simple paint issue. REALLY????? How does bad paint cause metal to blister? 3 diff body shops confirmed it is def rust/corrosion......with the tight spot this is in I can see how this can happen from the factory......s**t happens but don't tell me it's something that it's not. I told the service manager that perhaps we should wait a month then so we can watch the other 6 spots blister out and pop......then he said that warranty would not cover it........he even tried to say the paint was chipped where it's bare metal. They also wanted to take it to a body shop that I don't trust but they just approved my request for a different shop. ...... I will be taking pics when the 6 other blisters are opened up to further prove that there is a quality issue. I feel it would be cheaper to just replace the hatch and never have to worry about it again....lets hope this fix is permanent. 500 of those miles were from a 6.5 hour road trip.....bone dry roads. Car now only has 1000 miles on it. I have lots of pics but to big to upload here....will try via photobucket.
  7. Should have followed my number one rule when it comes to new vehicles....NEVER buy first year production. I know they are not all lemons but they really need guys working for Ford that have foresight (pick me...pick me)
  8. I am a very easy person to deal with but this 2013 escape is just plagued with issues......trading it in today. My wife liked driving it (SE 1.6 turbo) but will wait a few more years and perhaps try again once things can get ironed out with the new platform. Im staying with Ford though (2014 Fusion) but will be dealing with a different dealer/service. Have enjoyed the advice and feedback from all the members here.....EVERYONE have a great summer !! Now it's time for a cruise in the Mad Max machine
  9. Yes...I meant 'drive in movie'. Sometimes it gets a little cold here and we need to turn on the escape to get some heat flowing (I know there are other ways but I'm keeping this thread ''family friendly) or quite often, need to put on the AC.....I cannot run the escape without the DRLs coming on. I'm just going to pull the fuse and then run a switch with inline fuse to be able to turn off at will.
  10. Remember the days when all you needed to do was slightly engage the e-brake and off went the daytime running lights. I went to take my family to the drive as we do many times each season but with this new escape it is impossible if you want to turn the vehicle on for any reason. Info on how to disable the DRL on a 2013 escape would be much appreciated....some forums will not post info like this but hopefully this one is more open minded to truly helping out escape owners
  11. K thanks guys....was hoping there was a way to turn them off right away....I guess we'll just take my old Ford to the drive in instead.....BTW...the drive in we go to is just 10 minutes from Niagara falls, ontario
  12. with the vehicle off and you open any of the doors the running lights come on all around the vehicle....great safety feature for sure but not so great when you are at the drive in and you want to sit in the back with the tailgate up. Anyone know how to turn this off or do i just find the right fuse and pull it out?
  13. Yup....Husky Liner is far better and MUCH cheaper....they are also more flexible which makes it so much nicer when removed for cleaning which I do every week.
  14. so let me get this straight....this latest recall, issued 2 days ago, is about the fuel line issue or is it something different?
