New here but I just bought my black reserve 2018 navigator a few months ago. I dropped it off this  morning to get the wheels powder coated gloss black. I have had aftermarket wheels in the past and didn’t want to go that route this time due to the various issues that come with them.  I’ll post pics for those interested in doing the same.

    gracias!

You could probably get good results from using a foam cannon at home for a wash, with the matte look of the wrap I bet it would look clean.  I debated on removing the Lincoln badging from the rear decklid all together, that may be an option for you if you’re worried about too much black.  The black powder coated turbine style stock wheels loom super sharp IMHO and I’d do the calipers with some color  probably but that’s just me.  That white is REALLY white so it’s hard for me to really say how blacking out a bunch of stuff would look as I have the Ingot Silver so it’s a lot more subtle color.

I had thought about going with silver for that reason, as I still would've provided some contrast but maybe not as dramatic as with the Platinum White. I'm trying to look at the Black Label and then go on adding black from there. I think I'd like the grille to be black ... the lower chrome line as well. Unsure about the roof rack and window surround and door handles. I'm thinking of doing the door handles in Platinum White wrap. It's been hard to picture! I will just start with the window tint and wheels and see how I feel. These pics are extreme, but give a little bit of an example. No way I'm doing the whole roof or doing the blacked out rear taillamps. These rims are 24s.

My tint was a few hundred, the powder coat I really don’t know what that runs.  Just guessing maybe $5500 total or there about.  My ceramic coating was $3200 if I remember correctly so I could see myself sprinting for a little more for a bad ass look and skipping in the ceramic.  I don’t think you need ceramic on a wrap like that.

Yeah ... I checked on glossy powder coat and it was $125/wheel plus a mount and balance. Tint was under $300 estimated.

I am going back and forth ... the recommended "not using a car wash" on vinyl wraps has me hesitant to do a full body wrap as I'm not going to have/make the time to hand wash. I am starting to lean back towards keeping the Platinum White and deleting some of the chrome. I definitely want to powder coat the wheels, but am having a tough time deciding what chrome to black out? Any suggestions? I think I will black out the grille, rear LINCOLN badge and side NAVIGATOR badge, but I'm worried it I black out all the chrome it will be too much black ... especially the door handles and lower rocker chrome line. Thoughts?

Thats another decision between the base and the L.......  I've been reading about car leathers too in trying to decide if I like the BL leather vs the Reserve.  The interior of the cars absolutely smells differently.  .  Turns out the leather "smell" isn't from the leather.  Rather,  it is actually a kind of car perfume that lingers for awhile but eventually fades.  I had no idea.  So,  now i'm thinking to just go with Reserve and save about 8-10k.

Yeah, the Black Label leather will likely wear worse. I was anticipating really liking the Chalet theme but when sitting in it in person my wife and I both didn't love it.  We wanted a lighter interior so Cappuccino was it.

There is a video floating around of a Black ‘18 Navigator that got a matte wrap, the chrome blacked out, powder coated wheels, and the brake calipers powder coated red.  It looks great!  I’ll see if I can find the link.

edit:  insta post with said Navigator

Here’s another one of the same Navigator but a little more explanation:

Received some estimates for this wrap ... just the full body wrap and the trims are around $4400 plus tax (not counting powder coating rims and window tint).

Thank you for posting.  I'm going through the same thing trying to put together a Navigator.  I have wasted countless hours on the Lincoln web site building with this color or that interior.    The BL interior choices are too limited, and I fear not exactly timeless.    I much prefer the MB GLS color offerings but not really the rest of the car. <sigh> .     First world problems.  lol

We finally settled on a Reserve L in White Platinum w Cappuccino interior. Gonna black out the chrome, powder coat the wheels and possibly wrap the whole car Satin Dark Grey. The recommendations to not use a car wash with a wrap has me hesitating though. Good luck in your decision!

  7. I think you are making a good choice by what you are describing. It is definitely darker than light gray. I probably would've ordered this as well as it bridges the gap from the very light cappuccino (which we ordered) to the ebony interior very well. My wife did not care for the medium slate in person. I like that the wood is not typical and doesn't look very wood-like at all honestly.

Unfortunately I do not. I have matte black wheels on my Raptor, which are aftermarket. I was hoping you had seen the PVD in person as I have only seen pictures online from those providing that service.

With what I hear the PVD still looks VERY "chrome-y" ... I don't want that much shine/reflectivity. I think I may go semi-gloss powder coat as it's between matte and full gloss i think? It might have to do with what matches the black "wrap" as well.

  9. I am starting to consider copying the car in the video above. That satin dark gray is A W E S O M E! I ordered Platinum White from the factory and was planning on blacking out all of the chrome but starting to worry about there being too many black pieces (especially the door handles and trim along the bottom of the car) if I do full chrome delete. That way I can put satin dark gray on the lower body chrome line and the door handles. Too many options and confusion! :)

  10. I do like that carbon fiber trim! I am really worried about how this piano black crap is going to look in about 3 months. Not sure where this trend came from. Looks nice for a very short while and is trashed in no time in my experience.

Have been checking around to do some customization. I think I am going 15% tint all the way around (adding something like 25% to the rear to even it out best as possible). I plan to black out the grille and all of the chrome as well. I hope to make the side badge look like the black label badging. I am going to powder coat the wheels as well. Hoping this all turns out OK and doesn't look too over the top. The trusted shop I talked to was a little nervous about their ability to wrap the grille but I have seen quite a few done online now.

Thanks everyone for all the input!

Pretty sure rear seats are identical to expedition.

Good point ... wondering if I should just get individual seat barriers for under the car seats and call it good, but really afraid the kids will just trash whatever isn't covered.

I wouldn't be shocked if they haven't made them for the remodeled Expedition yet either.

  12. I ordered from Wet Okole online after checking them out and was pretty excited ... then they called the next day and said they didn't have the measurements for the 2019 Navigator ... I said "that's OK cause they're the same as the 2018" ... they said, "We have not made one for a Navigator since 2009." I said isn't there a way for you to get the measurements and then make it and then you'll have it going forward? They said, sorry we can't help you :(

That is all. Everything else is optional on the Select that is standard on the Reserve. The standard seats on the Select are not the same, but both trims have the 30 way option.

I do not want a sunroof. I am planning on getting a Select short wheelbase with everything but a sunroof. I would like the upgraded stereo, but I am not willing to step up to a Reserve and get a sunroof just so I can order the stereo. I also prefer the Select rims. The Select is a comparable price to the Reserve with comparable equipment.

I prefer not to get the sunroof because of the decrease in headroom and the fact I never will use it.

I kind of have the same feeling about the sunroof as headroom is a bit tight in that 2nd row with the Vista Roof, but the kids seem to like the moonroof and I like the extra light we can get in it due to wanting to tint the windows 15%. I am still torn on the rims, but I think I will go with the Reserve. I did like the reserve rims in black on the customized video that was floating around on here. Wish I could see the Select in a matte black.

  14. Sorry for all the topics of late ...

Really getting my selections narrowed down. Here is the situation ... going with Platinum White w/Cappuccino interior. Planning on powder coating the wheels and blacking out most/all of the chrome on the car and tinting the windows. I like the SELECT rims the best of all available rims but like the things offered on the RESERVE best. I don't really want to fork out the $s for a new set of SELECT rims and it might be tough to find someone willing to exchange their SELECT rims for my RESERVE rims. I think the select rims look best and will look the best powder coated. Would love some perspective on this from others ... to me the Select rim look more sporty than the sleek look of the Reserve rim, but maybe this wouldn't be that noticeable if powder coated anyhow?

83% of all Navigators sold are Reserve or Black Label. That being said, what would I tangibly be missing on a Select vs the Reserve?

    From all I can tell:

    * Ultima 20 Speaker Upgraded Sound System - generally I like having a top notch stereo in my cars, but I'm not sure I'm at the place in life where this matters as much (2 little kids ... not like I'm going to be rocking out); from what I understand the Ultima 14 speaker is a nice step up from the base stereo with the step up to the 20 speaker from the 14 speaker not being AS noticeable. That being said, this is the #1 thing keeping me from wanting to go with the Select line.
    * LED lit belt buckles - not a big deal
    * Illuminated Front Grille Lincoln Badge - again, not that big of a deal to me

    Am I missing anything else?

Would love your perspective and input on anything I noted here! Thanks for putting up with my multiple obsessive posts :) Getting very close to putting down a deposit for an order. Just need to line up the ability to get X-plan pricing.
