  1. It's really rediculous that it seems like 3 out 4 drivers either have a phone to their ear, are texting or worse and even though it is against the law in Maryland, people know they have to be stopped for something else first in order to be cited. I drive so many highway rush hour miles every year, it's just the odds that I get hit. It seems even in the slow lane there is now way to avoid the idiots. Just wish it hadn't been 2 months into it on this new car. Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth having a nice car anymore. And don't get me started with parking lot door ding bandits.......
  2. Moving and they just plowed into it on the beltway. People just tend to follow WAY too close in general. Dropped at body shop and parts oredered. Out of site out of mind for now. I miss the mileage now that I have the Ford Edge as a paid rental car. At least it still has Sirius.
  3. It's bad enough . . . . Most rear bumper parts down to the frame need to be replaced and maybe some trunk straigtheing. Sickens me. Same thing happend to my 11 Hybrid a couple years back. People just don't pay attention on the highway anymore. 7 million gadgets to distract them. I'm just hoping that no metal has to be painted or replaced and only the plastic bumper cover gets painted.
  4. ouch.. someone slammed into the rear of my car this morning. Haven't even made my first payment yet.
  5. This is what you get when you wrap a so called luxury brand in the same package as the standard brand (Ford). I don't like this approach.
  6. I've noticed that most Lincoln dealers are in Ford dealerships and Ford dealerships around DC at least, still act like Ford dealerships and not like Cady/Lexus/Mercedes/Acura/Audi etc. There is a noticeable difference and they tend to be more defensive about warranty items.
  7. Yes its' high and the turn signal blinks the LED out like it does on the AUdi's. They tried to charge me at firts but the GM ands Service Manager ok'ed it for free after all my complaining about it in the first place.
  8. reminds me of Apple's reluctance to make a bigger screen for the iphone when virtually everone else had moved up. Finally they gave in (sort of) and made it taller. Hopefully Ford will also see the light and get with the program.
  9. Actually they work perfectly fine for me and I no longer miss a knob at all.
  10. Charles they need to press the issue with "their" Lincoln service rep to get the instructions on how to turn them on.
  11. keep an eye on this though since they told me they thought the letters would go out in July.
  12. There have been 2 recalls involving the 13 MKZ reported this week. A small 500 car electrical shock recall and a larger almost half million one regarding fuel leaks that effect some Fords, the 13 MKZ and MKS. I called in my VIN # and found no campaigns yet on mine but the dealer told me that they thought the recall letters for the fuel leak one were set to go out by July and the shock one expected to start June 17th. has anyone checked their VIN against either of these? http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=AP&date=20130603&id=16549424 http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2013-lincoln-mkz-recalled-for-electric-shock-risk.html
  13. I agree. The question is WHY? Why is Ford so stingy about this option? It doesn't make much sense unless it somehow effects the advertised gas mileage. Why else would they care, unless some Ford bureaucrat has something against DRL's. Weird....
  14. I stopped using premium gas about 10 years ago and never looked back.
  15. I just called it a patch. I think what it actually was is that Ford just gave the instructions to the dealership tech that were previously not available otherwise. So luckily we didn't need the fleet style junction box which never made any sense to me anyway.
  16. my dealer: Sheehy Ford/Lincoln in Gaithersburg, MD 1-877-845-0873 The service manager did tell me that although they agreed to do it, they were not necessarily promoting it to a wide audience. Not sure why. I think this is one of the cases where you have to do some insisting. It might require an email fired off by the "service manager" to their Lincoln/Ford rep like was in my case. Pic below showing the result. Lights only comes on when car is in "Drive".
  17. What I have noticed is that the DRL's shine at least twice as bright as the LED eyebrows do when in normal light mode which seem to be the case with the parking lights setting also. Very bright. I'm a bit worried about early burn out and I think I even see a possible placebo effect on gas mileage already. (probably just in my head or driving style fluctuation) I have also noticed that like the Audi and some other models with full time DRL's, when you use your turn signal, the DRL on that side turns off while the turn signal is blinking on that side. I guess that is so the turn signal stands out more or something. Anyway, I'm glad I switched them on none the less as, but am going to ask just in case if the high brightness can be turned down to same as normal, just for the sake of longevity and battery drain? Maybe I'm over thinking this. I mean the level of brightness on the Lexus, Audi etc ones are comparable.
  18. This is one of my biggest current issues with the way this car works. Even with the sunglasses lens on the sensor, this sensors lack of adjustments defeats the "auto" lamps purpose. It should be smart enough to switch to at least parking lights during heavily overcast days or at dusk.
  19. Yeah, that Post review was one of the few glowing reviews from beginning to end. It made me happy to be an owner.
  20. Yes. The memo mentioned something about it being legal daytime lighting in the USA. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I also get the feeling that you still have to ask fairly aggressively for this or they won't offer it.
  21. It's just the lower front accent led's on, when in drive, and nothing else. (the way you would have expected it to be from the factory) No settings added in the dash control panel which would have been nice if you want to turn it on/off. They ended up doing mine for free. If your dealer doesn't know about this yet, insist, they read me the memo from Lincoln they received via email.
  22. Success! At the Lincoln/Ford dealer, and they now have the correct software patch instructions to have the led's on whenever the car is in drive. Looks nice!
