  1. Has anyone completed this yet? Was contemplating doing this in the new year. Just curious as to how the beam pattern is with the HIDs in the halogen projectors.

From the cutoff pictures you showed on the stock ones, my guess is that there will be a little bit more light bleed installing HID's (not as sharp a cutoff) and defined hotspots for the HID's. It's not ideal (doesn't look like it has the width you should have for HIDs) and might cause some more glare off the road surface (with the hotspots), but should have good throw.

  2. I ran both VVME and DDM kits. I prefer the VVME kits, though they're both made in China.

I had to use a relay on my Charger, but as far as I know none of the Ford vehicles use a CANbus system like the Mopar cars, so a relay harness isn't necessary (unless your worried about the initial voltage spike to ignite the HID, which is pretty much irrelavant.

My fusion showed up today, and I already have a VVME H11 in the waiting to install. I'll probably do that Jan 1st.

  3. Car comes Saturday.....my vvme low beam kit is already here. So i know what ill be doing next week!

I found from my other cars I'd rather have silverstars or similar than HIDs on fogs

  4. Nah man, those pics look good!

There are definately some hotspots but that cutoff is pretty well defined. I'll probably just use a PnP kit and see how it goes. Should be a lot better than a PnP kit in a reflector housing anyways.

Looks like it'd suffice well enough that I could wait till ford offered HID's (which I do think they will for next years model) and buy the HID assemblies from Ford, or find housings off a wrecked (or swapped) Fusion and go with Morimoto projectors.

  5. I'll see if I can't get this done for ya, if no one else comes up before me and does it', I'll see what I can do.

Thanks man. On a side note.... what kind of mileage are you getting with your AWD?

  6. Should get your hands on a set of the recalled headlight assemblies from a dealership for a proper retrofit or modification, unless they have to send them all back or something.

I doubt the dealerships will sell a safety recall item back to the public...

  7. Wow that's amazing, exactly what I wanted to do on my fusion!

where I'd have to go and what to ask for to get something similar done?

I'm a complete newb when it comes to mods, from what I gather he got someone to professionally install a new set of HID lights with an LED strip thereby replacing all the headlights he got from factory?

Not sure but it looks like he replaced his fog lights too. How much does this all cost? Does it void warranty?

    Thanks guys!

Technically you can do it yourself. It woud involve baking and seperating the headlights to install. If you wanted it professionally done youd have to look locally or use a place like aacstyle.com or flashtech.

The actual HID lights are as simple as a half hour of work and a 40 dollar plug and play kit from the likes of vvme or ddm. Double that price if your doing fogs.

He used the factory lights. Obviously if you have any headlight issues it will no longer be covered.

  8. If anyone could get a picture of the cutoff beam on the '13 Fusions, it'd be greatly appreciated!

I'm trying to determine what brand/quality projectors they use, and if I will be able to use a PnP HID kit, or if I'll need to save my money for a full blown retrofit.

    Thanks guys and gals!

  9. Cyberdman,

I'm not sure if this is allowed....but the dealer screwed up and gave me the wrong VIN. They gave me another too be built Fusion. Thankfully your URL's at the bottom helped me spot that!

So, if it's ok, think you could tell me the build or ETA or any info, yet again, but for this VIN:

    3FA6P0K91DR187973

They said it was ordered a day after the other so I'm hoping the build date is the same day.

    Thanks!

  10. www.fuelly.com

That's what I'll be using. One thing to consider with a hybrid vs gas engine is what kind of driving you do. If you do a lot of stop and go traffic then a hybrid will pay off a lot more than if you're doing mostly highway driving.

Fuelly is the way to go! That's what I plan on using when my car decides to finally show up!

  11. I understand a break in period, but I don't know where these people are thinking that's going to bump your mileage 10mpg.

If it doesn't improve you should have it checked outt by Ford. My Charger has 3x the displacement, double the horsepower and weighs 1k pounds more and makes that mileage.

  12. I'd say yes....mainly because the times I needed in other cars and didn't have it, I was mad. And even though stand alone units are cheaper, I'm not a fan of having to plug them in, put them on the windshield and all that. Built in for me!
