  1. Hi all! Just saw a mention of this forum over on the http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/ site (Hey Riggo & FusionTX!) and believe we Fusion owners need to raise these concerns to the Ford Corporate level. I've owned my '13 Fusion for 4 months now and am just starting to do the Ford Service attempt-to-fix shuffle. Two visits later and the smell still remains. There seems to be a common problem in the ventilation system of our cars that Ford needs to be made aware of. I plan to write to Ford to document my concerns, but in the mean time, any successful outcomes or similar experiences shared would be very helpful to help understand and hopefully resolve this problem.

I have a service appt later this afternoon and I am going to address the smelling AC issue.

This is one thing I recommend every person reading this do.

BTW I would love to hear about your exit strategy for MD...

  2. Why is that a "must-have" accessory? I don't understand the disdain for prop rods. They never wear out.

It's a nifty mod for car enthusiasts and modders. However, for most Fusion owners, the car will be serviced at the shop (dealership or other place) and a prop rod is all that is needed.

Edit: And DIYers that prefer hood struts.

  3. The convoluted process accomplishes that as that's how I drive most of the time without the family in the car. Its just ridiculous MFT designers have a button that seems to logically mean "Turn off AC (compressor)" but does nothing. Either its a hair brained screw up or they are just fine with wasting money on putting silk screen, LED and button layout. *shakes head*.

Like I said this is a very small thing but its beyond comprehension why it doesn't work. Wife hates it too and we are shopping Titanium Escapes and if it does this, she will nix it without question. A shame too....

I think it has more to do with what temperature you have your climate control set at than anything else. Yeah kinda stupid that turning off the AC does not turn it off. I would rather have it turn it off and have the AUTO setting turn up the fan speed to accomodate not having the AC running.

I think if we complain to Ford regarding the issue it will get resolved. Seems like a minor software fix on a MFT update. Otherwise I just do what you do or roll the windows open.

remember folks even if you don't use the Park Assist feature the front sensors can still be used

  4. One thing I've noticed with the Sync update is that I lost the text notification on my iPhone 5. Even if I go into the phone settings and select an alert it states that my phone doesn't have the option on bluetooth.

However, I seem to have a rock solid connection so far. Microsoft progress? lol

  5. I would never recommend "tossing" the under cover. The nice thing about that cover is it seems to be made of the same material that the fender wells covers are made of.

And at the risk of starting an oil war conversation oil color short of mechanical problem indication (milky due to coolant contamination..etc) means nothing. Just because its golden doesnt mean there is enough TBN and just because its dark doesnt mean it doesnt have enough.

    No. Let's fight about this.

/sarcasm - (for the sarcasm impaired)

  6. I love these rims as they are CAKE to keep clean. I am one of "those" guys...lol.

I wash mine with a separate buck and mitt at the end of my normal car wash. I like to keep the body and rims dirt in different buckets. I had wax the rims about 4 times a year to help brake dust rinse off easier.

Once or twice a week I clean the rims with Mequiers Quick Detailer. Why do I do that so much? My son (5) likes to help work on the car so thats a task he can do and I won't worry that he is hurting anything. Does a pretty good job most of the time too!

Believe me you aren't the only one lol

Treat your wheels as if they are paint. I use Wolfgang's Deep Gloss Paint Sealant on my wheels and it keeps them easy to clean and stay glossy. I'm trying out the Sonnax wheel cleaner to get inside the lug nut holes as well. I use a wheel brush to get inside the rim and use a MF wash mitt to clean the outside spokes. Throw in a little quick detailer afterwards and it'll keep them looking like new.

    Hope this helps.

  7. Sorry to hear your issues are getting worse. What's your mileage on the car?

Hopefully there will be a fix.

I made a complaint to Ford about the Trans, but I've been riding in my friend '10 SHO and even his trans (6F55) shifts similarly.

  8. Hi HenryVIII, I've also been experiencing SYNC connectivity issues with my Galaxy SIII (Android). Could you describe which issues you had in more details? I want to see if they're the same as the ones I'm having since I'm looking for a fix.

My car connects to my phone properly through the MyLincoln Touch screen, but in the instrument cluster screen between my speedometer and tach, it says "No Phone Added - Please see touchscreen" even though they are paired and connected. I tried other phones from family members/friends, and none of theirs does the same thing.

Hey Virtual American, I was typically seeing it being stuck just trying to connect. It'll say "Connecting" with the wait circle then after a min or so it would just say Connect a phone or something to the like. I would try getting your system reset like mine and see if that helps. Good luck!

Gorgeous ride btw! The new MKZs are impressive looking.

  9. So funny you're comfortable with the pipe bc its hybrid but you want wheel options

Damn right. If customers are going to pay that much for a top trim level Fusion Hybrid, they should have the option to choose from different wheels period. SE Hybrid owners have the option, why don't the Hybrid Ti owners have that? That and the aluminum pedals not available on HyTi models.

I'll support HyTi owners for getting more than 1 wheel option and all Hybrid owners for getting a unique Hybrid exhaust.

  10. Thank you all for all the great comments..I knew it was a 2.0 liter thing..but its more commonly known as a "titanium" thing...I'd imagine because you only see pictures of the titanium advertised with it..not any other trim really.

It's still a 2.0L thing. It's only "commonly known" as a Ti thing by Hybrid Ti owners that believe that all Ti's should have a Dual exhaust. I don't know about you but most people out there do not buy hybrids to have a flashy looking exhaust. The numbers (of hybrid customers) are stacked against you. It also just does not scream "fuel efficient", but higher performance. As you said, Hybrid owners purchase a Hybrid vehicle with Fuel Efficiency at the top (or near top) of their list.

I would rather like to see a unique central exhaust on Hybrid models or hide the tail pipe completely. As it stands the single exhaust is very nicely done. No reason to be shameful of that at all.

I'd be more upset about the pigeon hole'd wheel decision you're stuck with. Only one 18" wheel selection for Hybrid Titanium owners is just plain nonsense to me.

  11. This is a well thought out post.

Headlamps - The biggest issue with LED/HID headlamps is going to be cost. That's an easy $1-2k option right there. You'll be pushing this car well into MKZ territory. Should it be done? Oh yes, I hope it will be done, but expect the cost to rise, and it'll probably be a Titanium-only (maybe Luxury option) option, kinda like what Ford does with the Mondeo.

I know I'll pay for them if it does happen lol!

Rim choice- Honestly the standard 18" Titanium wheel choice is the most unattractive of the bunch. There should be another choice for Titanium owners (especially Hybrid Ti owners) than that rim they are stuck with. Not to mention it looks way too similar to the better looking 18" Luxury wheel choice.

Panoramic sunroof- probably won't happen. Again, adds more cost. It would compete way too much with the MKZ unfortunately.

Thankfully they are adding heated and cooled seats, a gray interior choice (I think) along with brick red.

I personally like the rear tail lamps and I doubt they will change until the next generation is introduced. The only thing I honestly see changing exterior-wise would be minor front and rear valence changes (most likely in the lower part of the bumpers) to give it a face lift for 2015+ models if anything.

  12. I too was disappointed to find out that the FFH Ti doesn't have dual exhaust. The dealer I purchased mine from did not have any hybrids in stock so I looked at and test drove a gas version of the Titanium with dual exhaust. I assumed that was part of the trim and didn't give it a second thought. I guess if its a big issue one could order the parts and retrofit the FFH with dual exhaust.

The thing is it's not part of the trim, it's part of the powertrain choice. That's what a lot a HyTi owners are not understanding. It just so happens that ALL Gas Titanium models are 2.0L Ecoboost powertrains. I can understand the gripe, but those that purchased a Hybrid Titanium purchased a car for it's fuel efficiency. Typically flashy dual exhaust tips scream "high(er) performance", not "fuel efficient". It's also counter intuitive as showcasing an exhaust on a car that's supposed to be showcasing fuel efficient and less greenhouse emissions.

Personally I'd like to see a unique central exhaust for Hybrid Titanium models. But it probably won't happen.

  13. 2014 FUSION SE HYBRID SERIES

    EQUIPMENT GROUP

    In the Luxury Package items

LED Rear Combination Lamps Ford High (Full Circle)

This is very 1st literature I have seen from Ford mentioning the full circle LED tail lamps.

I am curious why this LED Rear Combination Lamps Ford High (Full Circle) is not mentioned in the Titanium Series standard equipment items?

Now that the high series (full circle) LED tail lamps are mentioned exclusively in the SE Hybrid Luxury package, and not in any Titanium series, does it mean that the Titanium series

no longer has the high series (full circle) LED tail lamps?

I highly doubt it. What sense would it make to take away a feature on a top trim level that is currently offered for this MY (model year) vehicle? Adding the top trim taillights on a luxury trim option for SE Fusions makes sense.

And Single Exhaust for HyTi models.
