  1. Bhahahahahahahahahahahaha. Right now I am waiting for my wife to get up, have her coffee & stuff so i can show her that trick! She is perhaps even easier to amuse than I am.
  2. J-1228, Thanks for the link! I gotta admit that i didn't immediately fall under the charismatic spell of Mr. Peter DeLorenzo. (or swoon for those 2 "dynamic" design women either for that matter). But I did get the tiniest glimpse of the effort Lincoln is putting into defining its near-term vision of "luxury". The bashing of Infiniti was another eye-opener for me. I'd like to hear more of the group's view on the Mk VIII, as my '94 was possibly my favorite pre-MKZ car ever. Altogether, very much worth watching. Thanks again, karl
  3. good evening AK, That lil trick prob is in the book, but i sure didn't see it, nope. ( but note that I am in finalist-level competition for world's least observant human) karl
  4. I might be the only person who never heard of this trick, but it is sooooooo cool, i just have to share: “The remotes can often lower a car's windows, allowing owners to start airing out the car before hopping inside. According to CNET, the trick usually involves pressing the remote's unlock button, releasing it, then pressing it again and holding down.” It WORKS!!!!!! All 4 windows fully open and the Moon roof cracks open Then, after locking the car, hit the lock button & hold it down. It'll close all 4 windows & moon roof. YAY!!!!! :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: :happy feet: I know i am easily amused, but finding this out just made my day. karl
  5. Galaxie: THANKS A MILLION!!!!!!! Q1: is the "Radio Transceiver Module" = key fob?? Q2: how did you find this out??? Again, thanks sooooooo much! karl
  6. hmmmm..... I never considered this. VERY good thought. It is easy for the driver (me) to imagine any preconceived notion i want to come up with.
  7. bahahahahahahahahahahahaa!!!! how did i miss this previously? (and yes, i AM easily amused)
  8. there is a thought. Thanks! normally i do not remove cell or fob from pocket when going for a drive. EASILY possible to have had both in same pocket. BTW: i love how MKZ unlocks the car when i get close to it (fob in pocket), kinda like magic So i am reluctant to start leaving the fob in the car and lock with the code.
  9. it acted a lil odd again this afternoon. Normally when i approach the car it will unlock the car. It didn't. But then hitting the unlock doors, it did. hmmmmm.... I'm going to carry the spare fob instead of the one i've been using. See what happens.
  10. hmmmmm?????? Yesterday after tanking up, i sat in my MKZ, depressed the brake, hit P, then hit Start and got a message that "key not recognized" (or something similar). Yup, key was in my pocket, but no action. I got out of the car started randomly pushing buttons on the key fob and in a bit, things started working. Maybe I somehow disabled the key? Anyone able to shed light on this? karl
  11. hmmmm... you may be onto something. I WILL try yr method, using Normal on the highway. There are times i don't like Sport's clunking on concrete highways, ie over bridges. Or i might just be imagining all this stuff
  12. i never tried Normal vs Sport. If i'm on highways, i use Sport to mitigate rocking. If i'm on secondary streets i use Comfort to smooth out jolts like speedbumps. No scientist, me.
  13. to see a suspension difference comfort vs sport... set it on Comfort and enter a highway on a long sweeping curve, as they typically are. Intentionally swerve just a little back & forth (gently) as you go over surface irregularities; at 50-60mp or so, that tiny weaving will cause swaying in Comfort mode. In Sport mode, the swaying is gone or nearly so.
  14. last week i had my 1st oil change at 5550mi and completely forgotten about free maint. When the car came bck 45min os so later, new oil, washed, vacuumed, checked all over and NO CHARGE, i was a delighted boy. Yup! Making virtually no effort to get good mileage, i'm getting 34-36 at highway speeds, 39-42 on secondary roads in suburbia I am purely loving my black/black MKZ. BTW: My wife is going to replace her 2008 loaded Accord, and I will get her a new car, but really don't want to duplicate mine bc the MKZ is MINE! She only drives 6-8,000 miles per year so mileage is not the prime consideration. A lil more rear seat room would be helpful to haul around the old ladies she works with thru the church. I'm looking at Lexus, Avalon, Infiniti, Mercedes C, Audi... It is interesting doing research looking for something as capable & comfortable as my MKZ. IMO MKZ may be in a class by itself.
  15. ??????? I am certainly no expert but... When i experimented with Sport-Normal-Comfort i definitely felt different ride characteristics. The "comfort" setting gave that "rocking", almost wallowing at highway speeds going over bridges with uneven road surface. I set on Sport on the highway = no rocking. I use the comfort setting around town to mitigate the hit going over speed bumps. The Adaptive Cruise following distance is set by buttons adjacent to the cruise+ & cruise- buttons If i am out to lunch on this please tell me as i thought i had that particular item figured out. karl
  16. JS, i saw a guy going very slow get rear-ended this morning on 59 in SW houston, both cars ended up against the center concrete barrier. didn't seem like anyone was seriously injured as i crept past, but sure as shit I-59 was going to be a mess for a while. as you can tell, this subject is a pet peeve of mine, stems from 45 years riding a motorcycle in traffic BTW: I applaud your highway speed SOP.
  17. I guess I'm gonna be the one to say it. Over the top high milers, and over the top Smith Drivers rank ABOVE texting nitwits in pissing me off. The texting twits are just being stupid. Lotsa stupid people, so be it. But the arrogant uber-milers (no one here, for sure) and sanctimonious Smith-ers are consciously impeding traffic for their own selfish satisfaction. Houston: Congested rush hour urban highways, speed limit 60, ALL traffic zipping along 70-75, some routinely traveling faster, a very few going 65. This is reality. ALL traffic except the hi-miler who is trying to maintain 40+mpg lifetime, nursing his car along at 50, and the Smith Drivers at 60.000mph in the far left lane with a 10 car length following distance (to be even safer than just 2 sec). Dangerous obstructions in the torrent of trucks & cars. I just retired from Chevron, where safety is a cult, where we had to take Smith Driving every year; every meeting starts with a Safety Moment... The SD instructor had no workable answer for me when i questioned the safety of 15mph lower than the "flow". "hey you must obey the law..." OK, rant off, but all of you hi-milers PLEASE be cognizant of your impact on others as you endeavor to keep your stats favorable.
  18. JS, i didn't use the ECO cruise at all, i like the fast pickup of the normal cruise when i get clear of the knot-headed texting nitwits. Anyone know what other cars have the equivalent of Adaptive Cruise?? Also, does the hybrid have cabin noise cancellation? practically no wind or tire noise. I find that on most highways the cabin is exceedingly quiet. Quieter than my Denali which was very quiet. Honestly, I LOVE this car karl
  19. data point... Last week, a BIG, heavy friend and I drove my hybrid from Houston to Wilmington, OH, spent thu-sun at the Land Speed Race, drove back to Houston. About 3000 mi total, drove at 75-80+ all the way, made no attempt whatever to get good mileage. Got 34.7mph for the trip My big fat pal said he was very comfortable. We both agreed that the adaptive cruise control is the best we've ever encountered on ANY vehicle, totally seamless. We both agreed that driving the car was significantly less tiring than any vehicle we'd owned; no idea why. I am 110% happy with this car. karl
  20. sport vs comfort mode i did a buncha back & forth testing and settled on comfort around town, sport on the highway. In town i never notice the "floaty" feeling, but it bothers me on the highway, especially on long sweeping on-off ramps, on sweeping curves. comfort is better on speed bumps. Just this idiot's opinion karl
  21. JS, yup, i have them also, along with a tiny piece of gray tape. practically invisible unless one is looking specifically for them. you have MUCH better eyes than I. karl
  22. I've had my MKZh for a month and.... Adaptive cruise control This works soooooo smoothly i got addicted immediately. Turn on cruise, select how long a set back wanted by pushing a clearly marked button (no menu), and let it work. Some texting idiot pulls in front of you at 50mph when you are cruising at 75 and the cruise system slows you to 50 at the selected set back. Pull into a clear lane and the car accelerates smartly back to 75mph. It works so well, i started depending on it almost immediately. Depending too much. I find myself crowding slowpokes when i am not using cruise control. Lane control it definitely works but loses definition of lane edges pretty often. Nice toy to show friends, but i don't find it really useful at all. Any other thoughts? karl
  23. WOW!! ANOTHER feature i didn't know about, THANKS! karl
