  1. Correct. All three can be used to unlock the drivers door and to lock/unlock the glove box.

If your alarm is set and you open the door with the metal key the alarm will go off. The keys are really only useful if your 12 volt battery is dead and you can't use the remote or the keypad on the door pillar.

Makes sense. I doubt that will ever hapen :)

  2. Ok, figured it out I think. The outside drivers door has a hidden compartment. You remove the key blade from your remote (still trying to figure that out) and push that blade into the bottom of the drivers door handle, releasing the cover. You can then use the blade to open the door. The remote can then be placed in the console to start and operate the car.

My guess is that is what the two plane blades are for, I suppose the one with the black handle lockes the glove box.

  3. Yes the DC beltway is far more gentile, nothing but sunshine & lollipops and thank-you waves all around. I've driven in southern CA before, each place has its share of courteous and not-so-courteous... actually I have driven in all 50 states, and probably the Miami area gets my vote for "least courteous" - though the competition for that honor is tight, there are so many runners-up.

That sounds awesome. Well my trip back was better, I filled the tank with about 10 gallons and Fuelly gives me a 32 mpg even, which is what the car was saying. On the trip back, the car was up to 32.9, and my trip mpg was 42.5. Although, some of that was due to traffic slowed from 75 down to 50 to 60 mph, and I ended up in EV mode for maybe 5 miles or so. That really kicked up my mpg. But I guess it all evens out.

Overall, much better than my Grand Prix at a steady 20 to 22 Mpg. :)

  4. I also see your in Virginia, so that probably helps.

I live in Sothern California, and primarily drive in either Orange County, or Inland Empire with a lot of traffic, going fast then slow, cutting in and out of traffic (other people) etc. It is cool to let the adaptive cruise slow the car when someone gets in front, but there has been a few times the collision warning goes off as the car can't slow down and I have to hit the brakes. It's all a fun new experience. :)

My goal was a 40mpg car, and I am sure I will end up getting that in the long run :)

  5. The DTE on the first tank or two does not have much history to go on, so just fill it even if there's more still there than you thought, and it will get more accurate as you get a few tanks in the history.

Sounds good, btw, I see your getting 47 on yours (Fuelly). But with 31 fillups. Did it take a lot of time? The car says 32mpg. I will rely on Fuelly, but hopping it will improve as the dealer says it will.

  6. I have just over 400 miles on my Hybrid as of this morning. I will be going out to one of my remote offices later, so going about 150 more. My panel says I have about 50 miles to empty. Not sure how accurate that is, but I will wait until I see the guage change color as it is supposed to according to the manual.

So I will see how my mileage is doing once I get my first tank filled :). Even though I have tried once, but got less then a gallon in. That was really just to get Fuelly updated.

  7. So I got everything working, but have a question, I have conected my iPhone via Bluetooth / usb cable. I can not get Pandora to play via my phone. Also, I tried to pull up my text messages on the console and it says something about bluetooth not supporting text.

Anyone else experience that? I was under the impression that Pandora worked, and also that text messages would show up on the console.

  8. Thank you everyone. The car is so awesome.

Funny thing this morning, I went out with friends for breakfast, walked away from the car which locked, heard two horn beeps letting me know it was locked. Returned 90 minutes later to find it running!!!! Seems you have to hit STOP to stop the engine! lol. The engine was running to preserve my nice warm cabin temperature.

It only changed my MPG by 2 gals p mile, and I got that back on my way home.

Car is so fun. Also, found out that with predictive cruise, you get a battery charge every time someone cuts in front of you as it uses the regen to slow the car !!

    Love it.

  9. I was scheduled to be picked up at my house at 9:15... finally got the ride from the dealer at 10:15. Left the dealer around 4:15 PM. They refused to honor the $750 coupon despite oral reassurances to the contrary. Two calls to Ford and they agreed to a 3 year of premium maintenance plan... Not the same and not sure the $500 or so MSRP is real, but they didn't have to do it.

It seems the salesman warned him about me so I really didn't get any hard sell from the finance person. They did match Flood Ford for the ESP after the first quote of $2495. 7 years, 100k, $100 ded for $1135. Guy said I was getting it for less than they normally offer to Ford employees which is cost + $100. They got me a nice rate of 1.34% for 48 months, so all told I think I did ok.

Didn't use a drop of gas driving home... did in the driveway playing with all the settings. :-D

Taught the sync guy 2 things so I did good there. He was surprised I had already setup the sync account and bound my phone before he got there.

Awesome!! Ok you win. We both got our cars the same day. Now the learning curve. I printed the 450some page manual (2 1/2 inch thick printed both sides in a large binder.

Made notes as to what page things are on. The fun starts today.

My first drive was at night, so weird. Like being in a disco. Need to get used to all that ambiant lighting. But I like it !!!!
