No I wasnt looking for recalls just curious about what factors initiate a recall like number of vehicles affected etc.

My dealer gave me 2 free years of maintenance on my Explorer I assume he would tell me every 5k now but after 2 years I should do it every 3k.

I have read on numerous forums about power steering problems, mold smell in AC, exhaust smell or burning smell in cabin and water leaking into the vehicle. I just ordered a new 2014 and these things worry me. I know most people that have a good experience with a vehicle will not come online and talk about it. Only people with problems come online to discuss them. So does any one know the actual number of vehicles affected by these problems? How many vehicles need to be reported witha specific issue for a recall?

Sounds like something my wife would do, I bet you insurance company was impressed.

I am specifically looking for a 5th gen Explorer. I have looked high and low on the net, ebay, amazon, ford merchandise, numerous companies that sell diecast cars and the only thing I have found are police explorers. Anyone know a place to buy these at? Thanks

Just ordered a 2014 Explorer Limtied currently drive a 2010 Fusion Sport. Expecting a new one in October and already have a 3 year old so the mid size car wont be enough room anymore. I will miss the fun I had with the Sport but cant wait for my new Explorer.
