  1. Right now we have too many production people due to dept closing. We just sent 40 to Sterling and rumored more will go. I've been hearing that IUAW is holding the apprentices up for some reason
  2. I'm fairly new to Van dyke. only been there 2 years, so don't really know a ton of people. Does anyone who knows who's who think there will be a decent amount of retirees after the contract???
  3. The group of 40 that went to Sterling last week opened up 10-12 good job postings
  4. Lol. Ya I've been wondering what'll happen with that. Chairman is protected though
  5. No they didn't all say that. People only knew when the finally came out and told the people who were getting laid off
  6. That may be so but I highly doubt they'll be from Van dyke. Maybe some will be from all the layoffs coming up at MAP. Who are u hearing this from? Is it from a chairman/high up manager type, or from the guy you're working next to talking about rumors he heard from someone who heard from thier buddy???
  7. Ya they're glad to finally have some seniority. Quite a few people including me have begged them to let us come back to Sterling but it's not gonna happen. Unless it's as an apprentice lol. Any word if Sterling is planning on bringin on any apprentices any time soon????
  8. I hear lots of things. 99% of it is BS.
  9. 40 left yesterday. As of now there's no plans for anymore to leave. At least that's what the union is telling us. But rumors are going around about anywhere from 40-100 more leaving.
  10. My opinion also comes from experience. I partied a LOT when I was younger and so did all my friends. Some of the most responsible people I know have multiple DUI's, for example two friends who are nurses, an assistant prosecutor and multiple elected Union officials and I have a couple myself. You have your opinion and I have mine. Good luck to Louisville chairman, hope people prying into your personal life doesn't bring you any trouble in your professional life. Goodnight and God bless y'all...
  11. I'm pretty sure Ulysses S Grant was the man in charge during the war and called all the shots for the union army. I wouldn't doubt if a large number of history's military leaders in modern and ancient times have been alcoholics. You gotta be pretty sharp to make wartime decisions like they did. All I'm saying is you can drink like a fish and still be a good leader. History has proven many times that an alcoholic can be an excellent decision maker when need be.
  12. Ok then let's compare apples to apples then. Here's just a small list of some of the most prominent US leaders who were drunks and all of them played a major role in shaping our country. Ulysses S Grant (played a large part in the north winning the war), Franklin D Roosevelt, JFK, George W Bush (alcoholic and coke head), John Adams (one of our founding fathers would regularly drink beer for breakfast). I would say these men made a lot more important decisions than a local plant chairman.
  13. Give me a break man!!! Bill Clinton used to plow his assistant and got caught, JFK used to screw every hot piece he could get his hands on and they were 2 of the most beloved leaders of the USA, and both seemed to do their jobs pretty well. This guy is a plant chairman who likes to drink and was unlucky enough to get popped a few times. His bad decisions in his private life are totally separate from the way he does his job.
  14. The guy had a few drinks on his personal time and got popped for it. He didn't come to work and crash into the building or get into a drunken fight with someone at work. How is his DUI troubles affecting the way he presents himself at work??? I see some stone alcoholics come to work every day and work better than most sober people. Shit most of the sober ppl are the uptight bitches who constantly complain and bitch about people who have better jobs than they do. Shut the fuck up about it!!!! Jesus Christ, ITS HIS PERSONAL FUCKING LIFE!!!! Leave the guy alone, I'm sure he has enough on his plate being chairman than to listen to people like you whine and complain about his personal life.
  15. Why do u care about the guys personal life??? I know plenty of guys who have multiple DUI's and they're still excellent employees. Does ur chairman look at every crack head, heroine addict looser who works in the plant and call for them to be suspended when they get arrested?? No it's just the opposite, he fights for ur jobs!!! This sounds like a witch hunt by someone who lost an election or didn't get that appointed job they wanted.
  16. Are u talking about expecting 200-500 trades or production??
  17. When is the layoff supposed to happen?? Van Dyke is laying off 40 people on Monday. They're all going to Sterling. I'm not positive but I heard they will still need a lot more.
  18. When Livonia does post the postings will go to Sterling and Rawsonville first then if not filled from there it'll go up at other plants. Any and all postings go to Sterling and Rawsonville before anywhere else. All legacy employees at those two locations are classified as supplemental and take #1 priority over everyone else, even locations with layoffs
  19. I agree with you 100%. But international has a stick up their ass and they'll hold us up til they get what they want.
  20. ONEOFAKIND is trying to deter people with higher seniority than him from putting in for postings to go to Livonia. He's using scare tactics by lying out of his ass. You'd have to be a complete moron to believe a word of the horseshit he's writing.
  21. I've heard that same rumor quite a bit from quite a few guys. But can't fight IUAW. They'll do whatever the fuck they want. If they're holding us up for someones friend or kid there ain't shit we can do. Them pricks will screw everyone just to help their own people out, they don't give a god damn about what's good for any local.
  22. I have asked. Nobody knows lol?????
  23. How many openings will be on the posting?? I know a lot of guys at Van dyke want to go to Livonia. Van Dyke is laying off 40 people next week and sending them to Sterling. I will bet that a lot of them will put in for Livonia if given the chance once they get to Sterling, they're seniority ranges from mid 2000-2002
  24. Are there any openings for the trades to go to??
