Hi, all New to the forums and i just had to come on here because i have been having this problem since i got my parking brake fixed. I have a 1999 ford expedition with 175,000 miles on it. I never had a problem with the transmission and it sounds good when driving. Now a few months ago I moved and I have to currently park on a slope and my parking brake didn't work so I decided to get it fixed so i could use it. Plus i have lost my brake line twice and have been lucky so that's another reason. When i took it down to the mechanic he replaced left emergency brake cable right emergency brake cable hardware spring kit labor to install parts clean and just emergency brake shoes loosen and lube adjusters. Now after i had this done it was fine until the first rainy/damp day. The truck reversed fine until i cut the wheel and it made this awful rumble and even kind of stopped moving. Later the day when i was reversing out of my parking spot i put the car in Reverse and it didnt want to move(maybe moved a few feet but I was scared to keep doing it). It would make this loud vibrating sound. The sound was loud and I thought i was stuck there, i played with the e brake pressing and releasing it, moving from R to P to D to R. Finally it was fine and im like what the hell was that. After that experience i took to back down to the mechanic and he said the transmission could be slipping if that happens. Im like shit and they took it into the shop and looked at the parking brake and what not and could find no problems with the wheel or whatever. He said the parking brakes wer rubbing a little bit but they always rub. so anyway i went about my day trying not to think about it. Now yesterday it rained and was real damp all day. I had errands to run and it seemed that when i would release the parking brake i would here a squeal or rubbing when i first started to drive(no awful rumbling). I didn't think much of it im like maybe its the moisture. Now today its dry. When i was leaving to bring my wife to work I put the truck in reverse and it would go back but would make this shaking/rumble noise again. I had to stop because it was painful, i put the car in Drive it would go fine, back to reverse it made the noise again. I went back and forth until it finally seemed to back up fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this. I only think and pray it could be my parking brake because that's what i had fixed recently and i never had the problem before then. I also cant tell where the noise is coming from, it just resonates throughout the whole truck. Thanks for your help.
