  1. Anyone with a 6.2 in a SD been in for a spark plug change? Doesn't look like an easy job, probably pricey at the dealer. With 16 plugs that are probably platinum or iridium, I'm figuring it'll be $150 to $200 just in pluge prior to tacking on the labor. Anyone done or had this done yet?
  2. I put the truck through the drill and all is functioning as far as 4x4 use is concerned. If all I have to do is back up a few feet after 4x4 use to insure its unlocks the r/h hub, I guess I'll live with it for now. If I ever tear into the front axle I'll have the parts ready to axe the auto hubs and go to aftermarket manual locking hubs while I'm in there. If it was at all feasable I'd axe the 4x4 switch on the dash for a lever in the floor as well....
  3. My '11 SD 4x4 will pull hard to the right in 2x after having had the 4x engaged. It doesn't pull either way when engaged, but only after you take it back to 2x. Truck is equipped with "manual hubs" that have an "AUTO" position and a "LOCK" position, but no "FREE" position. When this pulling to the right occurrs it is remedied by backing up a few feet. My assumption is that either the right hand hub is failing to unlock, or the left hand hub is not locking in at all. This truck is a recent aquisition so I have yet to put the 4x to use, but I did test its basic shift functions before purchase. I want to rag the problem out before it catches me off somewhere in need of the 4x.

  5. From what I read my '11 F250SD has 2 possible axle ratios. I see a spot on the VIN tag marked "Axle" and "3E". How can I determine what ratio I have?
  6. I had a former Ford F350 Mono that had the death wobble. I chased it all around through changing steering stabilizers, wheel bearings, spindles, tie rod and drag link ends and checking the ball joints on the knuckles. After nothing solved it I was laying under the truck doing an oil change and saw that it had a panhard rod that I was unaware of. The bushing on one end of the panhard rod was totally shot. I replaced just the bushing at a cost of $12 and the death wobble was gone forever. If there's any noticeable wear in the panhard rod bushings it will allow lateral movement of the front axle counter to the drag link causing an uncontrolled oscillation.
