Man, every time I come on here its loaded with garbage. No wonder our union is losing its ass in every contract year, the rank and file let the BS, and the i heard and the word is blind them. Just stop and use common sense with crap like this

When I bitched about being forced to body shop my (alternate) rep gave me that line. I literally laughed in his face.
Then grow a set already and stop paying dues. But you wont, youll keep complaining on message boards and social media but wont follow through, like everyone else who constantly complains yet does nothing to change what they deem wrong. Im so tired of people saying they should stop paying dues, you have the right to stop paying dues, so grow a pair and stop paying. But I bet u wont

Yes, several TPTs from MAP are being sent to Dearborn Stamping. No full time employees are going to Dearborn.
The bottom 130ish are going to ISA, and above them are all staying in their current areas (final, paint, body)

Heres a kick in the balls. If you get forced to body, you will probably be forced to stay on nights too because theyre supposedly keeping 2 shifts
i wouldn't mind it, i want B shift. Works well with my household
Final is 1 shift
Body, Paint and stamping is 2 shifts
no "supposedly" about it, that is what it will be

Ive heard there is a good chance those at the bottom end will land in ISA. In any event, long term we will be fine, as people have said 1000s times already, its all part of the autoworker life. Be smart with your money, live within your means, steer clear of credit cards and loans and enjoy the time off when you get it

Try a Google search...Ford internal paperwork was released 4 months ago showing no U.S. production of the Continental in 2020, fueling rumors production would be shipped to China. This week many articles have been published stating Ford is killing the Taurus and Continental, the 2019 models are the last. Last December reports stated the Fusion and MKZ won't be built in North America after 2019. Motor Trend Dec 14, 2017 article. FordAuthority.com Mar 14 2018 article states the current gen Continental (2019 model) will be the last. Our unit trainers have been telling us this for months. The car has flopped in the U.S., with only 12,000 sold here in the states in 2017 and about 6,000 units being shipped to China. As for the Taurus, there is a 2020 Chinese next generation model, but Ford announced all over the news a year ago there is no 2020 American model, the 2019 is the last model. Every upper management and pilot plant person I've talked to who train our unit trainers / new model people have said Ford is moving away from cars and going for high profit trucks, SUV's, crossovers and new electrics and autonomous vehicles. Ford is losing a ton of money on the Continental with low sales, recalls, production and warranty issues. They gambled big on Lincoln and so far only the new navigator is paying off. A fully loaded Continental can cost you 80k. Some Chinese buyers are willing to fork over that much, but only 12,000 people bought a Conti last year in the U.S., and most of those were cheaper 50k-60k models. Ford is on a VERY strict budget at its car plants and is getting cheaper by the day. They won't hire our part timers who have 2 years in even though over 350 workers have retired in the last 6 months. We have thousands of new cars in our lots waiting for replacement parts and hundreds of new cars every day don't pass inspection. Our plant is losing money, the Continental is losing money and sales are dropping, how is that buying into rumors? I've been through losing a shift twice here and it almost happened again in January, but there is no place to put 1,400 of our workers because MAP is laying off a shift, so we are trying to ride it out. If you have the capacity to make 280,000 cars a year on 2 shifts and you're only making 140,000 and dropping, it's not practical to work 2 shifts 30 hours a week and pay them for 40 for months (or years) on end.

Nothing I love more than being forced to work 5-10s just to have them send us home early damn near every night. Id rather work four 10.7s or 11s and have my Friday off back to spend with my family

I see they have sent everyone at the headquarters home early to help them get home safe in this big snowfall. Yet, DTP was called 10.7, and other plants B crews will be driving in exactly when the heaviest snow will be falling...

I seen a photo of the 50 year anniversary recognition that my fellow brother @ MAP just received recently. He is ready to go. He hired in 1967. He is in such good shape and If I pointed him out. You wouldn't believe it!!

Still not worth it. Just bought a house last year, 9 month old son, I DGAF about my family but my wife and I are both very close with her family and neither of us want to move away from that.
Same boat here, my wifes career isnt one where she can just up and leave. My 6 year old son is in school, one he really likes. And my mother is battling cancer, so the last thing I want to do is leave Michigan while shes going through this.

FYI, signs are pointing to FRAP losing a shift in the not too distant future. Gonna be a lot of competition for not a lot of open jobs.
Thats when seniority within the company comes into use. And those at FRAP Bcrew have less than us at MAP

Lets get a petition going in every plant to DEMAND the use of electronic voting systems. There is never a fool proof way, but this is 100xs better than plastic bucket.

That one has been pretty obvious for a while. If they're going to axe the second shift (and all signs are the company is desperate to), my guess is the earliest it will happen is March.
I'm still not convinced they weren't lying when they said no jobs would be lost with the Ranger coming in.
Itll be one shift after the changeover. And all they have to do is send those who dont make the 1 shift at MAP to other plants and no jobs have been lost

They don't match but they contribute 6.4% of your gross pay and 1 dollar for every hour worked up to 40hrs....comes out to roughly 100 bucks a week
