  1. OK Thanks bbf2530. They are 2 years old. I want to try and pop out 2 small dents (unfortunately just at the "crease line on hood") on hood I got cause I had to get up on hood to clean windscreen after a 500 mile mud road drive. Trim removal tool? Where to get it? Cost? Other tools I may already have that can do the trick?
  2. Is it possible to remove the insulation and re-install it using the same snaps (arrow pointing at a snap) holding it in place or will they break when you remove them? Thanks
  3. Does anyone know how much weight the standard jack included with a 2017 250 can lift? What I am thinking is, is the jacks capacity a truck without load or is it a loaded vehicle (in my case a truck camper loaded) the jack will be able to lift? Thanks
  4. I forgot to mention I've got a 2017 F250 so the fact that it is that new may change what makes sense as far as purchasing the Service Plan.
  5. I'd like to know if anyone has experience with the Ford Protect Extended Service plans? Are they worth it? One thing that I notice is for a new truck it seems you are just paying twice for the initial warranty? ALSO, is using a Ford Dealer Service facility required to keep warranty valid, or are there other options for which type of shop can be used for service? Thanks
  6. SOLVED - The bracket/lock just had to be removed and no problem removing tailgate. Thanks for all replies
  7. Attached is owners manual. Very simple, you'd think. But they've chosen to leave out anything showing the passenger side hinge. Ford if you are listening/reading add the darn explanation sooner rather than later. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?bookCode=O32615&languageCode=en&marketCode=US&viewTech=IE&chapterTitleSelected=G1803231&subTitleSelected=G1893179&topicHRef=G1893180&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=False&userMarket=USA
  8. Ford has stumped me. Manual doesn't properly explain how to remove the tailgate for the 2017 F 250. I've found lots of YouTubes, but nothing seems to match the hinge on my tailgate. Here's what I am doing. Lifting 45 degree angle, remove straps. Try to pull right side out of hinge. BUT as seen in photos there is a metal bracket preventing me from taking the tailgate off the hinge. I bought a torque socket to remove the white plastic screw I thought was just holding that bracket but the entire hinge assembly was coming off so I stopped removing the screw. So I can't lift the passenger side out of hinge and so can't slide out of driver side hinge as instructions explain. If anyone can provide exact instructions on doing what should be really simple or refer to a web link or youtube video for an 2017 F250 I'd appreciate it.
  9. OK fuzzymoomoo. I know I'll get size at shop, but would be better to have an idea before going. Mostly I was interested to hear if I am seeing the removal of that torx as necessary to take off tailgate, but I sure can't see the tailgate coming off with the torx in place.\ Thanks
  10. What size Star/torx is the plastic nut holding the lock in place on passenger side? Though the manual does not say this nut needs to be removed to lift tailgate off passenger side hide it seems this is necessary. I called local Ford and they said Yeah there is a Torx nut and NO the tool doesn't come with the truck and NO they didn't sell one! Thanks.
  11. fordtech1 Thanks, that is what I thought but no info in vehicle manuals from what I could see.
  12. What is the box outlined in yellow in attached photo? Thanks
  13. Thanks campingnut - plan to head to a CAT Scale. Matter is resolved via this forum and Ford reply.
  14. UPDATE - it seems the idea of the cargo weight rating and payload are the same thing just looking at from 2 different viewpoints. Totally confusing but here's my try. The CWR is a weight that is a result of deducting 6 x 150 lbs for passengers from the payload and deducting any options that increase the vehicle curb weight. The payload includes the passenger weight of 6 x 150 lbs. So if you have a payload of 3300 lbs your Cargo Weight will be 3300 - 900 (6 passengers x 150) = 2400 (and less if options weigh more). Either way for each passenger less than 6 you have another 150 lbs more cargo weight available. If your payload is 3300 and you have a driver and passenger you can load 3000 lbs. If your Cargo Weight Rating is 2400 and you have a driver and passenger you can load 2400 + 600 (weight of 4 people x 150 not being utilized) = 3000.
  15. AKirkby this is exactly my interpretation. We will normally be 2 people so 4 x 150 = 600 means we have gives 450lbs extra cargo space (the payload of course stays the same whether with 1, 2 or 6 people. And I would say whether you load a apples, hogs or a truck camper. Also they use 6 passengers as standard not 5 as I wrote. (I have a reply from a Ford Weight Engineer). The brochure Truck Camper Selector presented at time of order turns out to be useless unlike the document you sent a link for where each option weight can be added/subtracted. All in all I am convinced it is sticker payload that is relevant. Nobody really has been able to explain the Cargo Weight Rating. Nor more from me on this, I'll check just to see if any more repies. Thanks to all
