  1. I've had my VIN since the 1st week in April & have yet to have COTUS acknowledge me or my VIN. Must have tried close to 100 times.

ETIS will recognize my VIN & correctly identify my engine type, size & a few other things, but nothing else.

I've never been able to obtain a window sticker although I was told it should be available about a week before my assembly date.

  2. Ford recently revealed plans to eliminate its entire sedan lineup in North America so naturally there were questions about whether or not Lincoln would follow suit.

Thankfully were getting some answers as a spokesperson told Automobile Magazine the company is committed to both the Continental and MKZ. The mention of the latter model is interesting as Ford will drop the Fusion in North America.

Carsalesbase data shows Lincoln sold 27,387 MKZs in the United States last year and this was a significant decline from the 34,009 units that were sold in 2014. It remains unclear why Ford would want to keep the model around especially when its axing the Fusion which sold 209,623 units last year.

Regardless of the companys reasoning, previous reports have suggested the MKZ successor will be launched in 2020. Little is known the sedan but it will likely be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The Continentals future is a bit clearer as the company reportedly used the National Automobile Dealers Association convention to confirm plans to bring back the suicide rear doors. Theres no word on timing, so it remains unclear if Lincoln will offer suicide rear doors on the current Continental or wait until the next-generation model which is due in 2022. Like the MKZ successor, the next Continental is expected to have a plug-in hybrid option.

Lincoln is the midst of a major product push as the companys president recently confirmed plans for five new or redesigned models besides the Aviator. Details remain elusive but the company has already confirmed plans for an new crossover and an MKC successor.

This is certainly great news!! Would hate to think that my 2018 Conti would be the last year if this outstanding line. Not sure what anyone would see in or want the suicide rear doors, but to each his own.

  3. I have not, the last update was a week or so ago. The dealer showed an arrival date of around May 9th. Yet again it was not delivered. The zone manager is emailing my dealer telling them that there is a huge shipping backlog and that he has been trying to prioritize the truck for them. Of course nothing is happening and the status of the truck from Ford still shows "awaiting shippment". I also found out that the little dealer I bought the truck from is having to pay insurance and interest on the truck and has been since the completion of the truck in January. In my mind that is definitely not right for Ford to do that to any dealer especially when its them that's holding the truck up. I am still looking for a some good news and hopefully the truck will show up eventually, but I have my doubts

As someone waiting for delivery, your story is quite freightening!! Sure hope you get your truck soon & hope your experience is super unusual.

  4. A. I need a MUCH higher capacity (the one in my car is 256GB, and almost full. I literally mean my entire library).

    B. Im living like Im completely broke right now because between unemployment and my SUB benefits Im only getting 70% of my normal paychecks, and I still dont 100% know exactly when I go back to work.

And I thought I had a large collection for the auto!!! But yours in another dimension with almost filling a 256 GB drive? You must take looooooooooooong trips.

  5.

I think that's Apple's iOS Media Sharing, not CarPlay (display projection). I fiddled with my wife's iphone a little, and I wasn't able to find a way to turn off SYNCs indexing of shared media. However, she doesn't have the problem you have, because she uses streaming apps (spotify and apple music).

I've never seen this problem on Android, as you can separately control whether Android allows USB Mass Storage (media) access, or Android-Auto. My USB permissions are set to "charge only".

Dave, I think you just answered a question I just asked. I have Android & will immediately try the control of Mass Storage solution. Glad I kept reading!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks.

  6. Thats my biggest (and only actually) bitch with Sync 3 so far is every time I plug my phone in it feels the need to re-index my entire music library. The Sync 2 system (minus the My Ford Touch) in my old Focus did the same thing but at least Sync 3 doesnt hijack the whole system and start playing everything in alphabetical order and starts where it last left off.

Maybe its just the CarPlay aspect that does that, Im not sure. I havent had much of a chance to play around with it since I got the car 5 days ago.

I have the Sync 2 & have stopped using the plug-in because of the playing everything. Did you find any way to stop that from happening? Thanks.

  7. I got this ELM327 USB adapter. Others clones can work but this was listed as 100% compatable and for a few extra bucks and less headache I just got it.

    http://elm-327.eu/elm_usbhsms

Then get FORScan here : http://forscan.org/download.html(its free for PC but costs a few bucks if you want it on your phone instead) Also you would need a WIFI or BLUETOOTH OBDII adapter not a USB one that I listed.

Sign up at the forscan forum (free) takes around 12-24 hours to get approved http://forscan.org/forum/

Then you have to register forscan extended license (also free) http://forscan.org/forum/extlic.php

    Video here
And some codes you can do and the different modules.
Aways backup first so you have the Original off all modules you modify. This way can easily go back to "stock" and also backup once you make all your changes so you can easily go back to fully modded (say if you bring it to the dealer for something and don't want them to see the changes you made.
Here is a video to show how to backup
It was very easy to do and it made the truck so much better. Would be nice if they just had these settings in a menu in the truck that was easy to change but this code reader and free app work just as well. Plus the app can read and clear trouble codes and more so it has other uses if you want.

    HAVE FUN!

WOW!!! That's a lot of great suggestions to try out. Thanks.

  8. Got me an OBDII scan tool and used FORScan to permanently turn off the annoying auto stop/start. Also turned off the even more annoying double horn honk when the truck is running and you get out of the truck with keys in your pocket and I unlocked the navigation features when truck is in motion. A lot of other cool things you can do but those 3 alone made it all worth it.

Will the OBDII work with most newer autos & what was the approx. price for this. It certainly seems like a great tool to have.

  9.

I think you are right about that.

I express my angst about autonomous cars and then I'll probably live be 95 years old and wish I had one because I'm an inept driver.

However for now, I want to be an autonomous human.

Certainly agree with you on that. There are always two sides to the coin - want to do my own driving now, but the closer I get to the 80s the more it would be nice to have the option. Don't think the "auto" car could be any worse than a teenager on Sat. night.

  10. Sorry for bugging you again fuzzymoomoo, but can you check 5LMJJ3TTXJEL12316 one more time? The reason I'm checking is that whether it arrives at the dealer or not by Memorial Day will affect our travel plans that weekend. If it will be at the dealer by then, we'll need to travel to the city where the dealer is (far from here), otherwise we'll head to the beach or something that weekend!

Hi ozy, would mind telling me when your order was placed? I have an order in & am trying to guess (I know, that's crazy) when it might arrive. Thanks.

  11. Apparently (probably due to demand for new Navigators) the parts supply for service is taking a hit to allow more production of vehicles. My '18 Navigator is garaged in the shop awaiting a new headlight assy (driver side headlight went out) which has to be pulled out of the production flow from the assy plant. I'm imagine that has to go pretty high up the organization ladder to happen.

Has anyone else experienced parts available issues (or perhaps my Navigator is the only one with a broken part ;) )?

Sorry to say I fully understand your frustration. My son's Nav was attacked by rocks on a country road & lost a head light. Almost a month & still waiting. Very rural area so he has not had to garage it.

  12. Who ever is doing marketing for Lincoln is doing a terrible job ! The Continental is a nice car, especially with a longer wheelbase than the MKZ or the MKS.

Couldn't agree with you more. Many of the "problem" issues I read about when shopping for a new car just did not register with me. At my age I have no interest in how fast my car will get to 60 MPH or have no desire for a monster engine. I want something smooth, comfortable with a plush feel & I will have that with the Continental.
