  1. Well I finally was able to record my vehicle when making this sound. It's very hard to predict when it happens and generally my family is in the car and they hate the windows being down but I was cruising this evening and heard this sound and I was determined to recreate it. So before it goes to the shop when the next oil change is due. Does anybody have any clue what it could be. Happens under very light throttle between 45-55 another reason it is hard to capture. Also it does last longer I got scared I wasn't recording and I fat fingered stop before I knew it the sound was gone and I spent 45 minutes trying to recreate to no avail.

If it happens when loaded like that, wouldn't it be more of a suspension issue at those particular speeds vs. transmission, etc.?

I still think it's the teenagers lol.

One of them is probably back there blowing a kazoo ever so softly back there but I also agree with you the loading of the suspension causing a rub somewhere.

  3. Well that sounds unfortunate, does it sound like it's oscillating or is it more of a drone? Have you tried manually down shifting with the paddles to see if it is still there. Judging by the very specific set of circumstances it is going to be damn near impossible for the dealer to diagnose unless you bring your family and take the service guy for a ride. Good luck.

  4. If you want power and you don't care about the factory powertrain warranty you can  give 5star tuning a call they offer powertrain warranties with their tunes. I've been running them for about 18k miles with no issues.

  5. Few questions because I love hot rodding my navigator. Are you in excite mode traction control off brake boosting to 2500 ish rpm and then going? Also to note the 5.9 is non L sea level with rollout so you have to know if your device takes that onto consideration. Best I was able to get on my device not tuned was 6.1 here in Houston during the fall with cool air 93 octane but I have an L and generally have family gear to the tune of 200 lbs always in the back. With my e50 tune I have got a 4.6 during the winter with an empty truck.

  6. I didn't view your video but it may be the wastegate valve. Mine rattles a bit then after about a minute maybe less it stops. It doesn't bother me because nine times out of ten I remote start it and by the time I open my garage, walk out to the truck it has stopped dealer knows about it so if it ever causes an issue they know it's on them. Hopefully it is as benign as that I know others with our engine have complained of cam phasor issues.

That's good to hear ... did they just have them sitting around as an accessory already? They had a grille blacked out too? Are you sure you were looking at THE monochromatic package rims or maybe they just customized one and had it there?

I think they customized the grill, the rims and the badging match what is shown the build website as of today, but the grill I saw was blacked out.

I’ve read good things about the 5star tunes but don’t really care to do it.  Even though it’s easy to revert back to stock tune the whole warranty thing just isn’t worth it to me.  It would be nice to get a little better throttle response, though.

what sort of gaines did you get?

The warranty is a big factor, I completely understand that, as to the gains I have a buddy with a '17 mustang GT and I can keep up with him up to about 75/80 I win the traction battle with AWD but he eventually wins power to weight. I think the best thing about the tunes is it keeps the drive modes so in conserve it's basically like the stock normal when tuned up.

  9. Thanks akirby I'm part of a bunch of forums and they all have different rules about solicitations and mentioning non partnered vendors etc so I just go by the strictest rules I remember. The company 5 star tuning out of South Carolina.

  10. All right you 2018 and up Navigator owners. If 450 crank horsepower isn't enough for you there is a reputable tuning company near the east cost that offers tunes for our SUVs. I'm not going to name the company because I'm not sure about forum rules and I'd rather not read them so if you PM me I'll let you know specifically what company it is. Anyway I was their guinea pig and have put about 10k miles on the truck with their tunes. They are a vast improvement on stock. One thing to note this will VOID your powertrain warranty. Anyway just putting that out there I can try and answer any questions posted below on my experience on highway driving, city driving, I can't give accurate accounts of fuel economy because I didn't tune it for that I wanted a sub 5 second 0-60 time in a bus.

  11. Hyundai and Kia are making strides to try and break into the psuedo-luxury segment that Lincoln is trying to break out of. My wife and I test drove a Hyundai palisade and honestly the quality seemed the same as the aviator that was in our local dealer showroom. Sure the power isn't there and the ride is a little more unrefined but most people buy up so the improvement over their current daily will be noticeable.
