Maybe the way ford did the slot, one side open and the other end closed, makes the design more robust and avoids the mess they have with the 2.0 ecoboost.

The recent reprogramming of my wife’s 2017 escape, I assume either reduces boost or reduces boost after a short period of time, ie cant really fix the problematic design. I think that 2 liter comes from fords England engine plant.

There is a slot machined into the Chrysler/FCA 3.6 V6 all the way across but this engine has not been turbocharged!

Did you receive a recall for the reprogramming on your Escape?

We have a 2017 2.0 Escape also.....don't remember getting anything on this.....don't want to miss anything.

Damn that's tempting but I think I have more use for a pickup truck

I'm in the same boat on this, but I am on the side of wanting the Ranger to grow in size which puts me in the minority it seems.

The difference between the mid size truck and full size is far greater than between any other mid size and full size vehicle. I would hope for

dimensions closer to at least an Edge vs Expedition. As of now, the Ranger is smaller inside than an Escape.

I'm still trying to convince myself a Bronco will work fine for me......and I can stretch to MY 2023 to make a decision if needed.

considering all the eco boost engines would benefit from catch cans...Im quite sure a minute amount of filter oil would do diddly squat...I empty my catch can every 5000 miles...and its quite staggering the amount that would be blown through the engine otherwise...maybe the issue is where the "oil" enters the system...but like Ive said...every Ford Ive ever owned ( and theres been a few ) has had a cold air installed along with the requisite K & N....never had any issues at all..

What type of catch can do you use? Make it yourself? I haven't put one on my truck, but it worries me not having it. Makes me wonder about getting another Ecoboost engine.....except one of the few that added port injection.

Its nothing but cheap add-ons for appareance....ford reaps profit on such stuff and that adds to your ATP lust...its strong marketing by ford and it sales...the basic truck remains the same...heep has done it for decades as well...remove the add-ons and you still have a base heep in all respects..same applies for every model at ford..

Every car line ever made is like that......the more you pay the more you get!

Since its 2020, might as well update this:

    CY 2020

    2021 F-150 and F-150 Hybrid

    2021 Bronco Family-Spring 2020 unveiling

    • 4 Door Bronco-Late Fall/Early Winter (possible Job 1 Dec 7)
    • 2 Door Bronco-Late Fall/Early Winter (possible Job 1 Dec 7)
    • Baby Bronco-Summer/Fall 2020

    2021 Mustang Refresh/hybrid?

Seems like I'm missing something here-the SD is technically a 2019 release since its in production already.

    CY 2021

    2021 Mustang Mach E-Spring release

    2022 F-150 BEV

    2022 Fusion Crossover-Spring/Summer 2021?

    Baby Bronco\compact Pickup-Spring/Summer 2021?

Transit Connect refresh-Spring/Summer 2021? Hermosillo production starts

2022 Bronco Sport Trac/Pickup-Might be shown off during Bronco launch?

    2022 Ranger?

    Future Products past CY 2021

    New Mustang on CD6

Mid sized CUV BEV for Lincoln and Ford

Rivan based SUV/Pickup For Lincoln and Ford, respectively

Small BEV based on VW platform (EU)

    Edge and Nautilus replacements

    "Affordable" Ford Product ?

So 2022 NG Ranger is still a good possibility?.....in lieu of 2023.

According to Tesla’s website, the bed length is 6.5 feet.  Of course, they call it a vault because it’s lockable.  So no, it’s not as big as the bed of any truck.  Some - yes.  Any - no.

In my opinion, this is more of a Chevy Avalanche than a truck.

As big as any half ton super crew......no not as big a as any truck.

Sorry, you can get an 8" bed on a half ton super crew.

OK, Why is this thing that looks like a cub scouts carved car called a truck ? If I'm hauling 4x8 plywood or drywall where would I put it.  Is it a truck because of big tires? I can put big ass tires on my Mustag doesn't mean it's a truck, because it  can tow? so can my Mustang who gives a shit.

You want an electric truck fine, make it a truck first, until then piss off

I feel so much better now.

It has as big of a bed as any truck......slightly larger if I'm not mistaken.

Might as well add another half millions superduty trucks..

    https://www.bizjournals.com/losangeles/news/2019/12/13/ford-recalling-more-than-500-000-super-duty-pickup.html?ana=yahoo&yptr=yahoo

According to a Ford statement, "a front seat belt pretensioner that deploys during a crash can generate excessive sparks. In some cases, this could ignite the carpet or carpet insulation in the area of the B-pillar. A fire in the B-pillar area may spread within the vehicle and increase the risk of injury."

Ford said there's been at least one report in the U.S. of a fire related to this condition but added that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.

The recalled trucks were built at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant from Oct. 8, 2015, to Oct. 29, 2019.

They just had the same recall on the F-150

One item that I have to consider is overall length. There is no way I could fit a 232" F150 SCab/6.5' in my garage, without losing a lot of storage. So, since I have 2nd vehicle when I need seats, it's a choice between a 211" Ranger, or a 209" F150 Reg Cab/6.5' .

Or, like I've already had quoted, a F150 SCab shortened to fit the 5.5' box (which is available as a Raptor).

    Sometimes, length matters,,,,,

    HRG

    I agree.....would love a supercab F-150 with a 5.5" box.....but don't need/can't afford a Raptor.

The Rivian truck is also more midsize than fullsize.

    R1T (crew cab)

    Length 217.1"

    Width 79.3"

    Height 71.5"

    Wheelbase 135.8"

    Bed Length 55.1"

    Ranger (crew cab)

    Length 210.8"

    Width 73.3"

    Height 71.8"

    Wheelbase 126.8"

    Bed Length 61"

F-150 (crew cab 5.5 ft bed - shortest configuration crew cab)

    Length 231.9"

    Width 79.9"

    Height 77.2"

    Wheelbase 145"

    Bed Length 67.1"

And in case anyone is wondering... the R1S SUV is almost exactly the same size as Explorer.

I think the R1T is the sweet spot for size.....a few more inches in the bed wouldn't hurt though!

Last time I looked inventory was up around 40k, maybe a sign that Ford expects stronger sales next year....

I’m just happy that as Ranger sales go up, Colorado Sales seems to be collapsing... something like 8900 last month.

This is probably not the Ranger to fully match Tacoma sales but if Ford can get up around 12k to 15k sales a month, then that probably sets up the next generation Ranger in two years time. I love watching this, Ford reclaiming it’s place in midsized trucks.

So the new Ranger will be a '22 MY?
