  1. I seriously hate the UAW, i'm stereotyping but as someone who used to work as an engineer at Ford and visited their plants across multiple continents for launches the UAW workers are the absolutely the worst. The Mexican and china workers are infinitely better so I don't blame ford 1 bit. This idiot "Scott Sawatzke" saying misinformation to the media is why he and all his UAW numbskulls will be out of a job in a few years. I really think all the Detroit OEMs who have union workers all have a death sentence because they are going to get crushed by new players who dont have to deal with the stupidity, corruptness, and laziness of the UAW.

I think is best to seek comments from here on out what tesla owners think...most importantly how many tesla owners are willing to trade in there tesla for the mach 3...it not terrible in my eye (prius can pound sand) but they should have added an egg crate grill and dumped that hideous black plastic wheel arch moulding...but i suspect with current ford marketing practices that would require a $5000 additional package...also the walmart lcd console screen should not have been the 55inch model...finally. that is not a mustang....

This is the dumbest comment ive read on these forums by far.

The claim of "wrong" needs a little qualification as I suspect that there's very little carryover from the two projects. Ford loves to use terms like "Architecture" to group certain projects together that may or may not be directly related.

    As such,

I'd be curious to know just how much carryover exists between the original Mach E design/engineering architecture that was begun in 2015 and the next generation mid sized BEV Crossovers started in 2018. The rate of advance with BEV tech and even other  electrical and infotainment systems means that most things will be changed.

So an observer  following these events might easily conclude that the new mid sized BEVs are derivatives of the Mach E' which I doubt is true but, developed as an evolution by the same engineering group with common supplier and assembly processes?

    You bet.

To be clear, ford has a EV platform/architecture wich i think is code named "blackbird". Mae ch E uses gen1. The next two bevs use gen 2 which will share almost nothing with gen 1. Gen2 is more scalable, efficient, flexible, and some other benefits.

Lincoln does not  have a version of this car in development, but they are co-developing a larger premium utility BEV with Ford to be released in 2023.  The Rivian investment is also tied to Lincoln, but that happened well after the larger BEVs were in development so I'm not sure what's happening there.

Some of this is wrong. The next Ford/Lincoln  Bevs are a 23MY, so it will be released in 2022. Also it will be using the 2nd gen of the Mach E platform.

Hmm its RWD and has performance to back it up, but it has 4 doors? Whats the Problem?

None for me, I own a 18 Mustang GT and putting my reservation in Sunday for a ER Premium.

This will be good for Mustang in the long run. Mustang sales are going down, it's a 2 door vehicle, increasing C02 emissions target, etc.

I actually think this is going to save Mustang. Leaving everything as is would surely lead to a long slow death

  6. Hard disagree. They use fake plastic leather EVERYWHERE. Deleted the cluster for cost saving (cheap), fake wood trim, cheap piano black painted plastic in center console, Those wheel aero covers look quite cheap, don't get me started on the paint. Look up pain quality issues and you'll be shocked to see how thin Tesla paint is. The fact that they dont evnn bother to paint areas that are covered speaks a lot.

I actually think the Mach E exposes some of the backwards thinking of Ford when it comes to EVs.  It's a copy-cat that tries NOT to resemble an EV, right down to the long hood and vroom vroom Mustang noises.  I think it could be ridiculed as out of touch and it's one of many things that leaves me unimpressed with Ford's first attempt. The specs are almost there, I don't know about the rest. I would still prefer a Model Y personally, the design is integral and honest with the form factor and the interior space benefits from it.

I actually like the interior design quite a bit, especially for a Ford. I think the Tesla interior looks better however.

The Mustang does have a few things going for it that I wish Tesla had, such as Wireless CarPlay and Satellite Radio.

You absolutely crazy to think the cheap tesla interior is better than the Mach e. I've sat in both and the Mach e blows that cheap plastic loaded tesla out the water

  8. Ford insider here. They are 100% off on the F150 Sync screen, its nothing like explorer. It's actually a huge horizontal screen thats impeded in the IP. There will be a digital cluster. Ive actually seen all versions of the production version F150 and the interior is best in class luxury and tech.

does the baby bronco just look “rugged” or will it actually have something to back up the looks? Does it have the rear seats that slide back 6” like the escape? Anything about the interior that you can describe?

It will be capable off road. It will have driveline control module and e locker disconnect (forgot if just rear or front as well). It will be able to rock crawl as well. Interior is nothing fancy but more fore utility, storage, and very easy to hose down if if gets dirty off roading.

Very interesting on Bronco and Mustang becoming sub-brands. So, it will be a "Mustang Mach-E", which evokes an inherent performance purpose and does in fact roll off the tongue better than "Ford Mach-E". Much, I think, as the Velar is a Land Rover, but people don't generally refer to the underlying make but to the sub-brand. It is a Range Rover Velar, not a Land Rover Velar.

Yup there will be a performance version (Mach E GT) just like the mustang. I think it's going to inherit the mustang magnaride suspension as well some other ford performance hardware. 3.5 sec 0-60 is the target im hearing for the GT variant

Thank you for the info.........using the Mustang logo/name does not sit well with me, but it is what it is :(

Anything you can share on S550/S650 would be appreciated. From what I can gather, we'll get a refresh for '21MY and, potentially, an all new car for '23MY.

    :)

Honestly dont know much about mustang atm but what you said is my current understanding as well. 23 MY/s650 should have a MHT (hybrid) that will be crazy. Think Lincoln aviator GT power train, not sure if it will be a plugin but a V6 or maybe even v8 with electric motor sandwiched between the engine and 10 speed tranny. The toque on it will be mind blowing

Thanks for the info! Anymore you can tell us about the Mach E exterior and interior design?

From the spy shots, it looks smaller and more car than crossover I imagined it to be but I don't mind that as long as the design is a knockout.

I'm interested in the Mach E as my next vehicle. As long as it's not priced out of my range.

The design is a knock out im my option but aesthetics are subjective. Very few hard buttons inside, threes a small digital instrument cluster and a HUGE infotainment screen that will feature SYNC 4. Embedded on the bottom of the in the infotainment screen is a contextual rotary knob. There's also a glass roof option which ive seen. Interior is a minimalist but sporty design.
