Flashlight works and shows a small area, where as a low sun shining thru lights up the entire windshield.  Its almost like a haze, similar to it being sandblasted.

You need to get the glass replaced. Lincoln likely got a batch of defective windshields, need to go the the supply and ask for replacement and better quality products.

I'm glad someone else has noticed this.  I have the same exact issue.  Low sun shining thru the windshield and it looks like the windshield has the same tiny pinhole effect as yours.  Its certainly not clear.

can you duplicate the effect with a flash light? Tiny bubbles in the glass should shine in direct light.

  3. Went to the local Lincoln dealer over the weekend and there are quite a few Aviators, and a lot more Navigators. Drove a Preserve II without the Dynamic package,  very nice. The seat is not narrow at all, and very comfortable. Asked price for 2021 and the salesman said not ready to order yet, no price information.

Does anyone know when can we actually order the 2021 model. It is almost October, has the production started yet?

Auto air refresh will sample air quality and circulate air through a new two stage filter when required.  Auto heated/ventilated seats will activate them along with the auto HVAC settings, instead of having to turn them on/off manually every time.   You can still overdue them manually.

    That is very nice.

  5. Probably not very useful and potentially problematic, better  without.

The monochromatic option is quite attractive, if the price is right. The new convenience package is not attractive any more, the only thing worth to have in the package is HUD.

Ont eh element plus package,   the" Auto Air Refresh and Auto Heated/Ventilated Driver and Passengers Seats" was added with "Auto" don't know what that means.

To Wheeling : I suppose so in Chicago. They are building the aviator, Police interceptor and F150. If you check the Chicago plant, it says open 24/7 !

Thanks Froggie. I certainly hope that is true. I just saw two Aviators in my neighborhood. Is there any space for price negotiation?

I purchased a 2020 Lincoln Aviator back in December 2019 as well and my front driver/passenger doors were out alignment, my front hood is out of alignment and won’t sit flush on either end. The dealership has had issues with adjusting it, if it fits flush on the right, it sits off on the left. My gas tank lid isn’t flush nor doesn’t lock (not sure if it’s supposed to), and my trunk door has issues opening/closing and periodically alarm will go off.

I’ve reached out to the dealership and they’ve been trying to address these issues but it’s one thing after another. The hood is still not flush and the dealership has marked it up as a design flaw because anytime you close the hood, it bumps the top bumper and scratches the paint.

I’ve reached out to Lincoln head office with them just mediating with the dealership to fix these issues.  For this price tag and having such issues is disappointing and not sure what my options are at this point.

I’m based out of Vancouver, Canada.

    Any thoughts, suggestions?

Sorry to hear your story. I'm certainly not an expert on this, but based on your description, those are all minor problems and not safety or operation related, you may have to deal with  them through your dealer for the duration of your ownership. It is unfortunate that  the Aviator still let the owner down.

Ok, here was my results from the dealer.

    1.  dealer found no issues with lane assist.  Said they took for test drive.  Of course on my way home the drift to the left wasn't being corrected consistently even with the green bars showing.  When using lane centering it worked.  So conclusion I have is it will be a PITA in this to get them to see it so I know not to rely on it.   They didn't calibrate my camera because no fault code and no problem with self test.

    2.  They fixed the ceiling speaker because it was obvious.

    3.  The loose trim was fixed.

    4.  Rear hatch now opens with foot.

    5.  They didn't acknowledge a software fix for the rear brake assist/cross assist or whatever you call it when the sensor thinks a car is coming from either side when reversing and you get jerking braking from a bush on the side of the driveway.  I just turned that off.  If there is a TSB for this please let me know.

    6.  Installed running boards and like them.

So my sense is the lane assist and the advanced cruise control even when set at the maximum distance in stop and go traffic isn't reliable when at higher speeds and then you come on traffic that is stopped at a red light.  Even on way home a couple of times it wasn't going to stop.   How do you show them that really because It doesn't fail every time but enough that I will never rely on it solely.  A couple of times my wife was like what are you doing, meaning her instinct was kicking when the car wasn't slowing and I had not begun override braking yet.   This with the maximum distance set for spacing between cars so the car should begin slowing earlier than if you set it to the minimum distance.  I will say Audi and Benz have this wired and it sounds like some of your vehicles work flawlessly as well.  Mine doesn't so its gonna be like getting something to rattle when the dealer is driving it.  I like the vehicle but am disappointed that these two very important safety features are dangerously quirky for me.  I will remove the danger by not relying on them. Yes we are not supposed to rely on them solely,  but when I might need them its a bit disconcerting that they may not work at that moment.    I may decide to go to a closer dealer as the Black Label dealer is 40 miles away and non black label Lincoln dealer is 10 miles away.

This is really a pity. My 2013 Infiniti JX has the rear brake and cross traffic assist also and it has been working flawlessly since I bought it. It is not new technology at all. It is mature technology and all the bugs should have been already worked out. Lincoln should not have this problem. It is really a safety issue and Lincoln should fix it.

I doubt they will be readily available at the end of summer, but are you sure school is going to reopen?  With the wave of protesters doing their thing, we will either have a large COVID outbreak or a CDC with egg on their face.

That is the thing I'm betting, if I can wait for 2021 model, that may work. I really love the Aviator.

  10. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Aviator, nothing is close to it on the market. Just worried about the quality. And I typically keep my ride for 8 years. so trouble-free is important for me. And can't wait for 2021 model. Son needs my current car for school by the fall.

  11. If not for Covid-19, I would have been a proud owner or Aviator Reserve II. I was hoping that even Lincoln blew up the launch of the Aviator and lost control on quality, by May or June of 2020, the production bugs should be mostly worked out and I should have bought a decent quality product. But the pandemic changed everything. Ford has shut down the Chicago plant due to infection of the disease only days after reopen. I have lost confidence that Lincoln can get the quality under control in the next couple of months when I have to buy a new ride.

Since I heard of Aviator, my eyes and mind were hooked, I liked everything it offers. I've compared almost all the models in the price range with the Aviator and decided the Aviator is the one I want.  I first was interested in the GT, but the short pure EV range turned me off. I settled on the Reserve II, just waiting for the right time. The worry about the build quality and the horror stories really scared me. I don't know whether I should jump or not. There is really nothing on the market that even remotely comparable to the Aviator. But I don't want a vehicle that spend more time in the shop than on the road.

So I started digging, and find out there may be one alternative, the Genesis GV80, very nicely equipped, if not better, slightly cheaper, but with top reputation for quality.  It will be on sale in the next couple of months. If you are in my shoes, which one will you buy?

here is one link for the GV80  https://www.motortrend.com/cars/genesis/gv80/2021/2021-genesis-gv80-first-drive-review/

Lincoln Concierge just called to tell me that our "buy back" was declined.  I will be leaving it with the dealer to work on the current issues March 18, so we'll see.

Good luck with your repair. This is unacceptable to any owner.

Wondering if you have taken delivery on your third Aviator yet?

We have requested a buy back on our Aviator and awaiting the results... We have had soooo many issues, the car has spent way too much time away from home for repairs that may or may not have been resolved. So frustrating. ?

Sorry to hear that, can you give us a brief list of problems you have? Hope Lincoln will by back your Aviator.

  14. How does the Aviator's Start /Stop works? Does it restart by your foot leaving the brake paddle or do you have to press the gas paddle?

I recent drove a Infiniti QX30 as as a loaner. It has the feature, and has a button on the dash to disable it. I tested it purposefully and it is very sensitive. Whenever the car is in a full stop, it turned on, you can see to tachometer turns into 0 and there is a indicator in the instrumental cluster light up. As soon as your foot let go the brake paddle, it started instantaneously, feels like you pressed the gas paddle too hard. Maybe I did. I can live wiht this set up.
