Dang, I love this truck.  CCLB D F350, and it barely blinks at my 13K+ 5th wheel.  Through the mountains or flat lands, nada, it just don't care.

Couple of small issues, when not towing and engine brake on, 3-2-1 shift can be very harsh.  While on cruise and going uphill, IMHO, it waits too long to down shift.  Quick press of accelerator forces a downshift.  Adaptive cruise RTFW.  How did I ever live without that?

Still trying to identify my perceived issue with 7 round, if it's a problem with truck or trailer, or just needs to be broken in.

Discovered an interesting issue with sync 4 and how it operates when center stack screen is in camera mode.  It wants the phone to handle things like audio commands instead of sync handling it.

    Trailer camera is awesome.

Still haven't figured out how to make pro trailer backup work, and I was part of the pre launch trial.

Good to see that you enjoy it. I have a fifth wheel but got the 7.3 gas. It has been great to tow with but my cameras are awful. The chsml camera is grainy and the lines are off center so it messes with me trying to hitch. I didn’t add the rear camera to the trailer. Do I need to get one In order to see while using the 5er? Backup assist was silly. I feel like it was a waste of money. I got it for the cameras and didn’t realize that it was the steering knob thing. Overall the truck has been fine. I’m not sold on Ford over Ram at this point. I think the shorter truck was more enjoyable to drive and the cameras and interior were nicer on the Ram. That being said the Ford tows like a champ.

  2. There isn’t any accountability for anyone. I sold my truck to Carmax and went back to the dealer. They used a bait and switch tactic that is illegal but Ford doesn’t care. They ordered my truck claiming it was an x-plan order. They tried to kill the deal repeatedly so they could sell it out from under me. They didn’t file xplan paperwork but told me it was xplan. They pointed and said “that’s the xplan price” but they won’t be held for violations because they never produced any paperwork. They refused to show me xplan paperwork and denied the rules. They took my pin and pretended it was xplan though. I was charged 275 in fees that they refused to go to 100 on. They also added a 299.00 security charge which they refused to remove. They didn’t honor the price protection. I signed for it. I had no choice. I already sold my truck and the sales manager just threatened to “kill the deal” if I didn’t agree. I still have to go back to pick it up with my cashiers check. I’ll file a complaint with ford that will go nowhere. Never again Ford. Never again. Worst time of my life. Spent almost 70 grand and they treated me like a criminal. Good luck to everyone else.

  3. Spoke to my attorney. They can’t sue me for anything. No different than a bad Yelp review. Especially if what they are doing is true. Can someone confirm the 100.00 xplan fee limit. They are trying to now tell me the dealer fees are 275.00 as per nj law. Xplan site says 100.00. Maybe one of the mods can confirm the 100.00.

I really got a terrible dealer

they can’t even get me a price to give my credit union. They tried to act like the price was not changed but it clearly was raised. So awful.

I’d be pissed too, but You don’t want to go this route on the name and shame on Social Media.

I read awhile back about somebody doing this over a Bronco retail order going bad and the dealership trying to put an ADM on an order.  The guy went to social media and blasted the dealership, and so did others who were sympathetic to his plight.

The dealership sued him for Libel and public Defamation,

I’d suggest selling old truck privately or thru Carmax, then go get your new truck at the agreed to, and hopefully signed, purchase agreement…then, never deal with them again and complain to Ford if you still feel that need.

You can’t sue for libel or defamation if it’s true. And the laws are so hard to prove. I’d love to see that. While we are at it. Let’s go and do a deep dive on the dealerships financial practices too.

  5. We have that in NJ too. He lowballed me because he wants to make the profit on this truck that he would get if it wasn’t an x-plan sale. Period! He tanked the deal because it’s what these greedy people do. Once I cancel. That truck sells for 10k more than my deal with a fair trade. There is nothing I can do. His gm will be proud that he screwed me over.

  6. It rhymes with Browns Ford in Roms Tiver NJ. The sales manager is a total con. Tells me that they can’t sell a Ram and that they will sell it wholesale for nothing. Meanwhile they have a 2021 Chevy Colorado on the lot used for 40 grand. Which is over KBB. I would have moved on my trade. But I’m not giving it away.

  7. Apparently the market that has my truck selling at 50k doesn’t apply to an xplan deal. They need to make thousands. My truck on carmax came in at 48200. The dealer told me 42k. And then told me it’s really like 44 since I save 2k on taxes. I didn’t cancel the order. It’s what they really wanted. I left. They still have my deposit. I won’t do they deal but I also don’t need to sign the truck back over to them today.

  8. Went to pick up my truck. They turned out to be a scumbag dealership. Offered me almost 7k under market for my trade. Refused to move. Told me that he would give me my money back. He said that I can sell my truck and come back with cash. He said that x-plan is basically something they do as goodwill. I knew this would happen. These dealerships are total scum. So now I waited 7 months for nothing. They also told me that they would never sell a Ram and that it would just lose them money at wholesale.

Finally! After 5-1/2 months the salesman called me today and said the truck had been delivered. Right now they are going through the prep work and hopefully in a couple of days they will call to tell me it's ready. Then the fun part of finishing up the deal, doing the paperwork, telling the finance person "I'll price out the menu - let's just get this done!".

I got the same call today. Ordered July 20. Truck came in today and they are going to detail it and have it ready for pickup Monday. Took long enough. I hope the atlas blue looks good.

Like someone else pointed out, it's kinda ironic that Ford is chastising it's dealers for charging over MSRP when they just announced a $1000 MSRP price increase. I guess it's OK if the factory does it, right? :)

It’s not ironic at all. This isn’t apples to apples. It’s not the same thing at all. MSRP increases all the time and Ford can sell their cars with that increase on the sticker before the truck ships. The dealers changing the msrp on the vehicle over what ford sent it to them at is what Ford has a problem with.
The supply chain shouldn’t support an increase at the retailer.

  11. When you have the truck shipped will they notify you as it ships or just when it gets to the dealer? I see people on here who tracked their truck's rail car, but how do they know it shipped? My truck didn't really update until it told me it was done being built. Seems like 2 weeks is a short time to ship it to NJ but maybe it will be here.

It's a product of the times you were raised and perspective on the world, I'd guess.

When I was a kid, back in the 80's, my dad taught me to save. You needed to save the pennies, the dollars would take care of themselves. That's what my Dad Barnes taught us -- I was too young to really remember him but it was how things were in that era. This was post 70's inflation and interest rates were on the rise. Not a little, a lot. I remember hearing about double digit mortgage rates. In the mid-late 90's my Dad was talking about how mortgage rates were 7%, the lowest he'd seen. I don't remember if that was the lowest he'd seen in his life or in decades... but an era, regardless.

So to me, I see 2% interest and I see free money. Because an economy can not be sustained with interest rates that low. Who would ever make a risky investment for 2%? Not me, I'd buy dang toilet paper before I'd loan my money at 2%. Politics and all that aside -- I see the 2% as a better investment in the asset of a truck that I'll use, hopefully for the rest of my life, than in something else right now. So if you think a SD truck is unobtanium now -- just wait until interest rates get up around 7%.

You'll have this truck -- and a younger generation who had no chance at the free-money-pot will look at you, your car, your house -- and they'll ponder... how can they afford this. And the truth is -- if you had to buy it again, you probably couldn't.

The home I live in cost a little over twice what the truck I ordered cost. I didn't buy it all too long ago, but I bought it before 2020. It's zestimate is 450k, last I checked. I don't own a single piece of furniture that was purchased new. I work from home and the desk I use was something someone else was throwing away. Not because it was trash but because that pesky solid wood (black cherry) desk was just annoyingly heavy so they didn't want to bother moving it -- they were going to buy a new one at their new house and didn't want to have to move it out. So, for getting it out of their house -- I got a free desk. Nicest desk I've ever owned, by far. Our dining room furniture, 8 chairs and a table that we are complimented on all the time -- $400 at the local flea market / consignment shop. Also solid wood. I'll bet the people who bought that new paid close to $10k for it. Thing is also absurdly heavy. My bedroom suite, matching set -- two nightstands, chest, dresser, king headboard/footboard and box springs -- paid $500 for it. I could go on. Whole house, all furniture together... maybe paid $3-4k for it all. Probably less. I mean -- couch and loveseat, awesome leather and down filled, paid $200.

That's a lot to say that we can afford the truck because we bought into other things in an era before this one. An era when you could find used furniture for far, far less than new furniture. 90-95% less. So plentiful that people absurdly would throw away beautiful pieces that I will enjoy for my whole life and likely pass on to my children... as if they were waste. our home was so cheap we could nearly pay for the whole thing in a handful of years if we really wanted.

So, we afford this truck we are buying because of a complex set of circumstances that we have benefited from greatly.

That's just my story, I have no doubt others have different stories. I've known people who buy things like this and then are a slave to their debt. I have a cousin who bought a million dollar farm, equipment, and a brand new dually --- and he rode that train until it crashed. From the outside, he was living the life. From the inside, he was suffocating under the weight of it all.

Regardless, OP, wish you good fortune -- I hope your truck buying and owning experience is as great as it can be.

    TLDR

    Go Bengals!!!!!!!!

That’s a bit harsh.  There are plenty of ethical knowledgeable dealers out there to go with the bad ones.  Most of this is ignorance not willful misconduct.

The truth hurts and may not be nice to read but it is true. Many many many dealers are total con artists. If there are “plenty” of ethical dealers, they aren’t in my neck of the woods. 5000.00 over msrp, not accepting x-plan right now, bait and switch. Just a few of the examples of what I observed in the past year. Took me over 20 dealerships to get my wife’s car. I literally went through over 7 to find one to order on the xplan. It is not an ethical trade for most.

  14. Unfortunately many car dealers tend to be awful and have almost zero integrity. If the bulletins on this forum are accurate and Ford does honor the prices from when you ordered, I would think that a regional rep would at least confirm that to the dealer. Then again the entire process of buying a car is made to allow these dealers an opportunity to completely hose their customers. I personally can’t wait until this current boom dies down and they are back to chasing people in their lots and begging for sales.
