  1. I've used Amsoil HDMP on my last two trucks. It sprays on as a liquid and dries as a waxy substance that won't wash off. Works amazingly well for preventing rust. The caveat is that it's very messy and smelly to apply. I'll be doing my new truck as soon as it comes in.

  2. I'm right there with you, I've had a pile of parts in the garage since shortly after I ordered. Feeling much better now having a VIN that the truck will actually exist someday and I'll be able to install it all..

    Adarac ladder rack

    Truxedo X15 tonneau

    Tailgate damper

    Tremor valence

    Star white mirror caps

    37x12.5 General AT/X on 17" wheels

Also have a slide-in camper on order that I wouldn't be able to haul with my current 1/2 ton, so add that huge, extremely expensive accessory to the list as well ?

I was wondering the same thing. I think I have only seen the chrome badges on XLT trims with BAP. The Lariat trims have the black badges with the BAP. Don't quote me on that, its just my assumption.

I think the fender badges are only black on the Lariat Black Appearance package, if I remember correctly, in the description on the Ford site it says "(Lariat only)"

  4. I have a soft tri-fold cover on my current truck which was only about $300, so good value for money but not much else good about it.

The new truck is getting a Truxedo X15 because it's compatible with the ladder racks I'm going to install and it's very easy to remove completely when needed.

They're all about compromise, so pick the one that has the attributes that are important to you.

I just changed mine today, upgraded from a lariat to a platinum.  Original order date of 11/12/21.  So far the only news was that Ford had accepted the order the day after it was place back in November.

I never got any confirmation from Ford when I changed my order either, just the updated DORA from the dealer.

  6. My vote is for Rapid Red because it's undoubtedly the less common of the two.

I went with Star White with Black Appearance because I love the contrast of the black accents against the white. If Velocity Blue was still available I would have gone with that though because i like bright colors. None of the current colors are very exciting IMHO.

  7. I'd rather have one of the later builds of an outgoing model than one of the first of a new model, especially if there are any significant changes being made (but I don't think that's know as of now). Let them work out the bugs during the 2023 model year. At least that's what I'm telling myself since I have a 2022 on order...hah

So if I have ordered a Lariat with the Black Appearance package, is that a double whammy due to the spray in bed liner being listed separately, or do you think that the bap is on the list because of the bed liner?

My truck got scheduled yesterday with the black appearance package. It seems like they might be reserving whatever bed liner they have for the packages and not doing many, if any, of the standalone option. But that's all just conjecture, nobody knows for sure.

  9. Maybe I'm the odd man out here but I actually like how these trucks look, especially the higher trims. It feels really fresh compared to the now ancient second gen (of which I've owned 3). I would have considered one in a year or so to replace my 2020 once they work the bugs out. But I'm moving to a Super Duty since a half ton just doesn't suit my needs anymore. Especially one with a dismally low payload.

No, I don't have the UTT on mine.  I do have the dreaded bed liner and hard tonneau though.  The problem is I REALLY want those two things to come from the factory.  I'm not wanting something like that done after arrival if possible.  There are so many things that can happen with major additions after the build and purchase.

I agree with you on the factory bed liner. I've had it in my last two Tundras. The quality is great, and you get a debossed logo at the front of the bed (not sure if Ford does the same). The tonneau cover is an easy aftermarket addition, IMHO
