Lee2021 sounds like everything is above board. I appreciate your comments. It does line up with what he is saying but there has been a few things he has told me that have not been true. I am just trying to verify before I ink the deal.  He keeps telling me not to read these forums but what I have found is that this is where you find the truth. Again thanks for all you guys do on this platform!!

"Don't read the internet" (said dripping with disgust) is what many say, including mine 4 years ago.  My dealer 4 years ago ordered my ST after the orders had been cut off.  For whatever reason, the ford system didn't warn him.  Took me 1.5 months to convince him to ask his ford rep and that he needed to find a car in inventory somewhere - which he did!  I actually gave him a picture I got off of blueovalforums of the last Focus off of the line from an employee.  Why is this forum such a threat?  Well, I can answer that......

Read the x plan pricing agreement, like this paragraph:

    image.png.004e43564818c5831191989293e7ce65.png

    and then the pricing agreement:

    image.png.6958581578708ee3cfcfc202b4b8ca3b.png

See where the Ford document says "Dealer may mail check to customer"?

    You are good.

I ordered my F350 Lariat end of October under the X Plan. I was told like many other that they could not view the X Plan to give me actual invoice pricing but did get an "invoice" price. Through many conversations with salesman on things from changing options to price protection and his lies I am now getting more lies. Pickup was built 4/01 and is in the delivery mode now. I thought it would be a good time to secure financing and have everything in place when it shows up to avoid any problems and spend as little time in the dealership as possible. When they sent me the invoice it showed the X Plan price but abut $2200 more then what it was in October. When I challenged the salesman on the price he said that Ford had changed the X Plan pricing in the middle of my order and that I would have to pay that price and wait for a check from Ford for the difference in 4-6 weeks. He said he did not know what that dollar amount would be and no way of knowing. I again challenged him on price protection and he said it was price protected under the new price?? I explained that my understanding was that any difference in price was between them and Ford, not me.  I am ready to completely call him out unless someone can confirm that Ford changes X Plan during this time. I just would not believe that a business would sell you something and tell you we don't know what the price is yet. Any help appreciated as always!

The check in 4-6 weeks IS how price protection works.  Ford prints off the invoice at the current price and then the difference is given either to the dealer or to the customer in about a month or so.  He doesn't have anything to base the refunded dollar amount other than the difference between the x-plan then (on order), and the x-plan now.  If he didn't have x-plan on your truck then (on order), he can't figure it out.  Or at least not easily.  It's possible, but having Ford mail you the check is one of the very acceptable options and leaves the dealers math skills out of the equation.  In this case, he is giving you the straight poop.

    Ordered 11-1

    Lariat Ultimate

    BAP

    5th wheel prep

    6.7

lots of cameras and the silly little knob on the dash (that does work!)

    bunch of other stuff

    CCSB

Scheduled on 3/17 for week of 4/25

Day schedule moved from 4/27 to 4/30.  No other bumps yet.

    Went "in production" today!

So will it be towing at the end of June, or middle of July?  Who wants to buy a 2001 Suburban 2500 in very good condition?

The icing on the cake would be a PCO!

i saw, he gave me a copy stating this was it. I told him this is for STOCK units and my order is RETAIL. He stated it is the same thing and that he also asked this question, but the inventory manager stated it qualifies.

thats the thing, he claims as a sales manager he has no idea what this price protection is and does not know the process. I gave him a week to see a status and still no answer and provided me this in bound stock printed notice from April 4. I came into the dealer April 1, and he stated this was the process, but “was still waiting for answers”. He stated he reached out to fmcdealer and no reply. Not sure of the internal process so i can’t really tell him any of that stuff. Just told him my order is retail and not a stock unit. I don’t think he’s too pleased i am an informed customer. He also did not know what a DORA was. Again, maybe this new retail process being new, but i thought it was a little surprising that my salesman knew what it was but not the sales manager.

Hard to believe. I don’t know the exact process where I can tell him to go file the price protection but getting the run around for sure. Glad I came in earlier than when my truck arrives to get it squared away. If it was x plan and price didn’t go up, this would be such a smooth transaction.

they even tried to charge me $499 for doc fees instead of $100 for x plan, sales guy said “oh yeah…”.

This is geared towards both the buyer AND the dealers.  He acknowledges that many dealers don't know much about this.  It's short, and gets the point across.

Those are the prius catchers and not needed. They hang lower than the valance and look out of place. I put on a front receiver and had to remove them to bolt it on, as it used those holes.

So why do Tremors not need the prius catchers?  Are they lower than the stock 4wd trucks?  - I think not!  If they are there to prevent the truck from riding over small cars during an accident, Tremors should need them also.  Just figuring out if i want to remove a "safety device" and showing that other trucks don't have them.

I receive weekly updates from my salesman.  It has been great working with him.  Every Monday he sends me an update.  For the first three months (ordered in mid-November) its was "nothing to report this week".  It wasn't what I wanted to hear, but I appreciated the honesty and transparency.

On Feb 10th I was scheduled for a build week of March 28th.  Not surprisingly, it was about 10 days after I dropped the BAP and tonneau cover.

Anyways, on March 7th he emailed me that I had a build "date" of March 28th and then this past Monday (the 14th) I had my build date adjusted to April 1st.

Order is for a Lariat Super Crew with 7.3 gasser.

I've been very happy with my dealer.  I have asked a lot of questions during the build and ordering process and the waiting process.  He always answers quickly and is always up front and honest.

As much as a lot of people have had issues, I'm guessing some of those problems fall on the shoulders of some incompetent dealers.

In fairness, I haven't signed for my vehicle yet, but hoping the few weeks left until build and delivery go smoothly.

Was able to order vehicle at invoice, use my PCO and the locked in a fair trade in price for my vehicle at the time of the order.

What’s their name, and where do they work?

    Find a different dealer

this directly shows the challenges that dealers have changing from a ‘what will it take to buy this truck today’, to a ‘here is how I will help you with the long process of ordering and waiting for a truck’ mentality.  Many won’t make it.  It’s a classic example of ‘who moved the cheese’.

Anyone with Black Appearance Package had any success ordering or changing order “without” spray in liner?   Shows to be optioned on ford build site but dealer can’t find anything on how to code it

no, talked to dealer 2 hours ago, and they can’t figure out how to do it.

Please let us know if anyone is able to.

  9. Most of us have seen or commented on this over on the Super Duty order page, but if someone hasn't yet, Ford offered a solution to this.  And yes, some are not too happy that it didn't happen earlier.

Ford.com has not been updated with this option yet.  According to the order guide, it looks like the "old" black out package with the spray in bedliner is no longer offered both options are available now (edit, upon closer inspection of guide). That's a pretty good idea, Ford.  Of course we can't see pricing yet.  Dealer may though.... time for a call.

Hmmmm, well that is interesting.  I couldn't drop the spray-in liner because I didn't want to get rid of Black appearance (there are a few other threads with same sentiment).  Now we can.  Going over to Ford.com to see if the price is appropriately less.  Thanks for the callout, almost like you knew we would be interested!!

I ordered a truck from a corwin owned dealership. After 3 weeks and numerous calls to confirm my order, and no contact from ford, I went to another dealer and ordered. I recieved a nearly instant response from ford and the next day a vin and production date. I do know corwin  got the first order in, 1 day before my 2nd order. My second order took 58 days from order to delivery. I think corwin was happy I didnt take the truck. Im a x plan buyer so their profit margin jumped tremendously.

Just curious, which Corwin Ford Location?  I ordered from the Corwin Spokane just after it was purchased by Corwin.  They got my order entered correctly, as I quickly received a confirmation email.  Now I wait.

  13. Its probably blatantly obvious, but here is another official word:

    https://www.autonews.com/manufacturing/ford-halt-some-f-150-pickup-production-week-due-semiconductor-shortage

Earlier this month, Ford said it would continue to idle some of its assembly plants in the week of Feb. 14 due to semiconductor bottlenecks.

In another cutback, Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant, which builds Super Duty, Expedition and Navigator, will operate on just one shift next week, per a memo to employees

A shortage of semiconductors that are used for everything from computer management of engines to driver-assistance features has hit several automakers across the globe forcing some to produce vehicles without certain features.

  14. For me, Wendle was very good to work with before the sale with several visits and test drives, but ultimately they wouldn't do x-plan.  So I ordered across town at Corwin on 11/1.  The difference between MSRP and x-plan was just too much to ignore.  I'll report how it goes when the truck is scheduled, built and delivered.

Hi everyone!  Wondering if anybody can shed some light on the situation I recently encountered.  Ordered a Super Duty in October and had all the constraint items on it so I wasn't worried about waiting.  Have buyers order with confirmed ford order specs/pricing along with deposit and copy of DL for submission to ford as a retail order.  The dealer reached out to me last Friday and stated that they received notice from Ford that their retail orders with 5th wheel gooseneck prep (53W) would need to have that option removed if the customer wanted it built.  Based on the email it referenced constraints at the mod center not so much material shortages.  It affected 10 or so of their orders and they stated that Ford would not build the trucks if the option was not removed.  In fear of having to reorder a 23my with higher pricing and longer waits, I agreed to remove the option.  They offered to install it at the dealer or obtain the parts for me and I can install myself since I was a technician for years.  Has anyone else heard of dealers receiving correspondence from Ford recently about this issue?  Thanks for your help!

Yes, we know about longer wait time.  Yours is first that I have heard for an outright statement of ‘we won’t build it’.  All of us know about ‘we won’t build it’ for stock orders, but not for confirmed retail orders.  Was it just a ‘longer wait’ statement, or a ‘we won’t build it’?

the dealer installed option is normally around $1200 or so, while the factory is half that.  Did your dealer work out something with ford so that the dealer installed option is similar in price?

I’m new to the whole truck ordering process and was wondering if anyone on here knew what x-plan pricing would be? The company i work for offers the x-plan partner discount. I’ve currently got a 22MY F-450 Lariat ultimate in carbonized gray that’s been ordered since 11/08/21. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The issue that hasn't been stated here yet, is that many dealers won't do x-plan pricing.  So your dealer may say no when the truck comes in, unless you have pre-arranged that it will be an x-plan deal.  Part of the x-plan pricing agreement is that the x-plan pricing known when ordering.  Some they will, some they won't, some you just can't tell.  give them a call!

do they build trucks 7 days a week and 24 hours per day or what are the shift schedules, in other words, I'm trying to figure out how many trucks come off the line in a steady flow of 8k per week?  If a steady flow 24/7, that's approximately 48 per hour or 0.8 trucks per minute.

So Ford is scheduling ~8k trucks per week, with a large percentage (half?) being customer orders.  In this forum, we are talking to maybe a couple of hundred at a time, so we are just hearing about the experiences from just a very very small percentage of all customers.  We are probably the most demanding and frustrating customers that dealers work with.  I wonder if our experiences are similar to all the rest of the world, or if we are less pleased due to our demanding nature?  It would be fun to talk to a Ford business analytics person over a beer or three!
