  1. Well I was able to get quotes through KBB.com one dealer is $150 over invoice, at 17,179. 2nd dealer is $1000.00 less than that. Seems too good to be true, their BBB rating is a D. I am thinking that there is no way, and if I go there they will say oh that is a typo, it is too silimar to the 17,179 quote???? Invoice price on internet sites say 17,029, sticker is 18,145.

    Ugh.

  2. Thanks BB I appreciate the information, This is really neve racking for me right now b/c my wifes cars tranny is dying. I wanted to go with a new Focus but my wife thinks it is too much a kids car :banghead: , and I couldn't find any local dealers with the options I want which include ABS (she needs it!) at the price point we can spend now.

I hate the whole dealer wheeling dealing. Luckly when I bought my Mustang I was able to find a good deal since I had it ordered for me. The last "car" I bought was a Ranger and I got it used from a co-worker so that was easy.

    Thanks Andrew.

  3. I took a quick look at the wiring diagrams. Here's what you'll need to find out before you try this:

First, the exterior dimming feature is tied to the interior auto-dimming mirror. If you don't have the interior factory auto-dimming mirror and the 7-pin connector, you would need to need to get one of those and run wiring to the exterior mirror. If you already have the interior factory auto-dimming mirror, take a look at the 7-pin connector plugged into it. It must have a BLUE WITH GRAY STRIPE wire and a BROWN wire. Those two wires control the dimming feature to the exterior mirror.

Second, the driver-side exterior mirror connector is the same 16-pin connector for all Edges and MKXs, but the wiring diagrams don't mention which wires may or may not be present, so you'll need to find out if you have the same BLUE WITH GRAY STRIPE and BROWN wires on that 16-pin connector. Luckily, you can find this connector easily by removing only the small sail panel behind the mirror inside the door. The sail panel should just pop off, and the mirror connector will be directly in front of you.

If both connectors have a BLUE WITH GRAY STRIPE wire and a BROWN wire, check for continuity between them.

To summarize all of this: if you have a factory auto-dimming interior mirror, and you have a BLUE WITH GRAY STRIPE wire and a BROWN wire on both the interior and driver-side exterior mirror connectors, and there's continuity between those wires on each connector, a factory heated, auto-dimming exterior driver mirror from an Edge or MKX should just plug 'n play.

Let me know what you find!

    PS...thanks, Sully!

Thanks for the info, I really like the MKX but the New Edge Sport has me torn!! Interesting to know that it is tied into the interior mirror dimmer, I wonder how it reacts to certain conditions, like when on the highway and a car to your left is passing you, hopefully the interior mirror sensor picks it up and still dims the exterior one! I have always wondered where they put the little sensor for the side dimming, now I know.

  4. The PINs issued here MAY be cancelled after 30 days if you don't use it AND you don't stay in contact with the issuing employee. The goal was to prevent PINs from being issued and never used. If the employee knows you've ordered the vehicle and you stay in touch it shouldn't be an issue.

    Thanks now I understand.

  5. Hi AV99GT. :D As far as the Option Packages, it is always best to go to the Lincoln Website LINK - Lincoln or visit your local Lincoln Dealer and ask them.

You can figure on approximately 8 weeks or so, if you order after the Holiday period (the plants have a Holiday shut down schedule).

And yes, you can use an X-Plan PIN to order Lincoln vehicles.

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Good luck! :beerchug:

Thanks bbf2530. You are VERY helpful I see on this site much appreciated!

I am hoping to ordered around spring time, that is when my wife will be done with school.

If I can't order with the delete I will see if the dealer will swap them for the machined wheel.

One other question with the pin since it is good for only 30 days, should I wait to ask for a pin until till the car comes in to give to the dealer?

  6. Chrome clad wheels look just like chrome wheels. They are in fact better in some ways because they are on an aluminum wheel rather than a steel one. They would be fine. If you don't like them I guess thats your choice, but I don't really see any difference in the look.

Well I just don't like the way they look, they have an extra recessed line on each spoke. FYI most new wheels are actually chromed Al, not steel. They actually plate it first with a lay of Nickel than they are able to chrome plate.

  7. Thinking about getting a new MKX. I see on Edmunds and kbb that there is a Pkg Discount, -252.00 -300.00 (Req's Ultimate Pkg-60A) (Deletes 8-Spoke Chrome Aluminum Wheels), that deletes the chrome wheels that you get if you want the Ultimate package. Has anybody seen one that way or ordered one that way?

I do not like the look of the Chrome "clad" wheels.

How long does it take if I have it ordered? Also Linocln does X-plan pins right?

    Thanks

  8. I know the Continental's had that, but I can't remember about the LS's. That would be quite a feat to put in some car though, since the PRDL are all electronic sensor. The modules wouldn't be talking the same language. Good luck and let us know if you figure it out!

Well I did some more searching and it looks like the 2003 Expy Eddie B. has it too. But I think your right i would think it is built in the GEM.

    Thanks

  9. The PIN has to be in the name of the primary purchaser (the name that goes on the title).

I don't think the college grad rebate can be used in conjunction with X plan but ask the dealer to be sure.

X plan on Fords is 0.4% UNDER invoice plus you don't pay the usual $400 documentation fee. Very rarely can you beat the X plan price.

    Thanks for all the help!

  10. PIN's are good for one year from date of issue, and are specific to the person that it was generated for. If the PIN is in your name, and it's for your wife's car, you will have to be a co-signer on the loan IIRC.

Guess I would get the PIN in her name, since I won't be getting a loan, or can I "co-sign" even when buying it out-right? I need to get on this right away. I firgure the rebat ewith extend past 7/2 but I don't want to take the chance, or not findin gthe right car since the '08 are coming real soon.

I have never bought a car without a loan so that is new to me.

    Thanks guys.

  11. You'll have to find one on forddirect.com and give us the dealer's name, ZIP code, make/model and last 5 of the VIN - then we can tell you the X plan price. Or if you have a PIN you can get it yourself through the myplan.ford.com website.

I have a pin (I used to work for Saleen), but can I still use it? Probably I can use it to look up the price but not when I go to purchase? My wife can get the recent college grad $500 rebate, but will the pin have to be specific to her name ??

What is X-plan usually roughly $200-300 over invoice?

    Thanks so much.
