  1. So my wife had to get her windshield replaced for the 2nd time in three months, (12k miles and about 9 months old), so I contact my dealer who sublets windshields to a third party. They did the windshield last time but this time, they had trouble finding a Lincoln windshield however after about a week they told me they had one. They had my truck for a couple of days only to get it back with a couple of door dings and a windshield out of an Expedition, which of course, has no provision for a HUD and lists for half the price of the Lincoln windshield they still charged for me. I'm still working through that with the dealer but they are telling me they can't get a Lincoln windshield. I'm still trying to get them to explain why they installed the wrong part when they told me they had the correct part. I have the Lincoln concierge assisting but so for no luck. As an FYI to all here, as a rule of thumb, if you don't have the Lincoln logo in the lower right of your windshield, you don't have an OEM Lincoln windshield. I noticed the windshield they used did not have this and instead, had a FoMoCo logo in the center. Well obviously you can't even get a HUD on an Expedition in any trim level, so this is not the correct part. There was a Ford Engineering Number that is printed on the windshield, and that number tied out to a 22 Expedition.
  2. Decided to order an Expedition Timberline that I was originally interested in before we ordered my Wife's Navigator last January. It got delivered to our dealer about 10 days after it was built in mid-August, that was super fast. We really like her new Navigator. Our dealer submitted the order the Saturday before Thanksgiving and I received an email from Ford with a VIN and a 1/9 week of PROD early the morning of Thanksgiving. Five days! GM needs to take notes.
  3. Finally got the price protection check in the mail today from the dealer. The amount was the amount promised. All worked out in the long run, but let that me a lesson to everyone and try and get the dealer to call Lincoln up front and only pay the price protected amount up front.
  4. Don't bother with the F24 fuse in the BCM, it's easier to just remove the negative cable on your battery, wait 15 minutes, and reattach. I can confirm that both my RSE units have now been successfully updated to build# 2973. I spoke with VOXX Monday and this patch should address the issue with the battery drain after the vehicle is shut off, as well as the issue where sometimes the unit would just no longer continue to power on when you started your vehicle. It took me several attempts on my Left RSE unit to get the patch to fully take, but it finally did. Turn on your vehicle and load up your RSE unit, go to updates, search for updates, let it download the update, and then install the update. Once done installing, reboot the system or just turn your vehicle off and back on again, and when it finally accepts the new update, it will read the same Fire OS 7.2.9.1 (PS7291/2973). The 2973 is the build number and is the current build that you are wanting to get to.
  5. Some 2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may experience rear seat entertainment screens staying on with possible battery drain. This may be due to Amazon entertainment system software. An over-the-air (OTA) software update is coming on 07-Oct-2022 to remedy this concern. In the interim, remove fuse F24 in body control module (BCM) for two minutes and reinstall, the screens should power back on. Touch each display, select Settings > Network > Turn Off Wi-Fi. Customers can still use the HDMI, and USB ports to connect an external device but Amazon FireTV will not be available until the OTA update. After 07-Oct-2022, vehicle power needs to be turned on, touch each display, select Settings > Network > Turn On Wi-Fi. Customer will need to connect to their account. The Amazon entertainment system software OTA update will happen automatically as soon as account is connected.
  6. Took my wife's new Navigator to DT yesterday and had them swap the OE Pirrelli's for some Continental Terrain Contact A/T in OE size, P285/45R22. We have a 4x4 Navigator and I wanted something with a tad more grip. Only had 70 miles on the odometer and instead of CL'ing the OE tires, they gave me a price not too much lower than what I might have accepted on CL minus the hassle, plus I got a $100 rebate from Continental. Ride difference and road noise were imperceivable; tires have excellent traction and temperature ratings. 60,000 mile tread life warranty.
  7. Quick update. The dealer is legit and I will get a price protection refund from the January pricing level, which will be around $2,800. I also got a nice credit for the higher amount they charged on my doc fee since I pointed out that the X-Plan caps doc fees at $100. And I also got them to refund me the difference in the amount of State sales tax that I had to pay on the higher amount, so all is good. Would have been better to get it all taken care of upfront but I think both the dealer and I now know much better how the process is supposed to work! All in all, with the two price increases since I originally ordered our Navigator, we ended up getting our truck for just over $8,000 below the current MSRP window sticker.
  8. My faith is the Lincoln zone rep now. The dealer to their credit has always said I will get price protection, I think they were just uninformed. I admit, my situation was less common and the amount in play here is much larger than most scenarios. I did receive a phone call asking me about the survey; I told them I'm waiting on a response from Sales Director. Will escalate if necessary. Here is another good follow up on the subject.
  9. GM's process for price protection is nothing new so dealers who know what they are doing can choose if they desire, to only charge you the price-protected amount up front. I'm probably more familiar with their process given my recent experience on a C8 Corvette and price protection, but the thing is, not all dealers will do it that way and GM won't make them, unfortunately. Dealers who don't have a clue will tell you they will send you a refund once they get their money back from the manufacturer. I specifically said to the F&I guy that any dealer who knows what they are doing will know how the process works, and only charge what they should be charging, upfront. He actually smiled and said he was in the middle of a C8 order himself and he should be price protected on it - but still proceeded to tell me that it's Lincoln who will send me a check after the fact. (Turns out it's actually the dealer if you read that PDF.) When I pointed this out to the sales director yesterday he said I made some good points and he would have to check with the Lincoln zone rep to verify how it's supposed to work. The dealer just absolutely drug their feet when I asked them for the front-end numbers after even asking the Sales director last Saturday when we spoke after already previously asking to see the numbers and already providing my X-plan PIN earlier in the week. I didn't even see the front-end numbers until the F&I guy came walking up to where I was sitting in the dealership, and asked me which lender I wanted to use. I said to him that I haven't even seen the numbers yet and I was of course a tad perturbed. The numbers he then proceeds to show me are the current MSRP and Invoice with X-Plan pricing, although both he and the sales director said I was going to get price protection. The only problem was in my mind, that meant up front and what I was blindsided by was paying at the current August figures up front, and expecting a refund after the fact. Okay if that was the way it was going to be (to the best of my efforts, I was not as educated on the topic as I now am and hence ther reason for wanting to share with this forum,) but the important thing at that point then was for the dealer and I to be certain on what the amount in price protection that I should be expecting in refund because as I learned, it sounds like Ford sends the money to the dealer and it is for they to distribute. Not terribly happy about that. Also cost me an extra $172 in sales tax that I otherwise wouldn't have had to pay. I don't think that was ever in question and I expect I will get the refund - but the main thing to get straight at that point was how much of a refund should I be expecting. At first, they were pointing back to my amendment in April where I added the Lincoln Play, and that amount was only about $1,200. My original order of course had a different MSRP because I ordered it in January. January pricing means I should be getting a refund of about $2,700.
  10. Starts at about the 30 minute mark. The takeaway here is know how it works with price protection, particularly in this crazy year of hyperinflation. I ordered my Navigator in January and it finally just arrived at the dealer yesterday. When we went back with the F&I guy my numbers were way off (much lower) than his because he was basically showing me the invoice at the current MSRP. For those who may not be aware, there were at least two price increases that I observed throughout the time I ordered my vehicle, between January earlier this year and now in August. The really cool and important thing to note as well, which this guy explains and verifies, is that any subsequent amendment to your order also qualifies at the pricing level that was in place when you originally ordered your vehicle. Long story short, I was expecting to get just $1,290 in refund for price protection but I have since discovered, since I ordered in January and even though I added Lincoln Play when it became available in April, I still qualify for January pricing. With my X-plan pricing, I should be receiving a check for $2,764 instead. (Total discount will then be about $8,100 under the current MSRP). Also, I said GM doesn't do it this way and the dealer can sell you the vehicle at the price you're supposed to pay up front, as long as they know what they are doing. Been there and done that recently on a C8 Corvette. Because I had to pay a higher price up front and expect a refund check in the mail from the dealer (once they get it from Ford,) I also had to pay an additional $172 in sales tax which was completely unnecessary. We'll see what they say on that but heads up to the rest of you. I also pointed out they charged me $150 in doc fees and pointed them to the X-plan literature that says Ford caps doc fees on X-Plan deals at $100; I expect that refund, as well. 11. I literally just went back out to the garage to have another look as they would most certainly make the most sense, but unfortunately, no. The front LCD had a nice one-piece screen protector installed, that the dealer left in place, that had text over it reminding the owner to remove. These rear screens, not so much. Absolute brain-dead on Ford/Lincoln's part. I got it off with a lot of elbow grease and a little adhesive remover. Patience. microfiber towel, and my fingernail. Still can't believe Lincoln intends the owner to do that.
  12. Just spoke with the dealer on Saturday, and they thought our Navigator was going to be another week or so. It's only 85 miles from the rail depot to the dealer, so when it did come in on the railcar it wasn' going to take long. Apparently, it came in overnight Sunday night and first thing Monday morning (yesterday), the Lincoln tracker was saying final prep. I asked the dealer and they confirmed about an hour later that yes indeed, our Navigator had been delivered! That's just 12 days from when it rolled off the line in Louisville! Did receive the X-Plan pricing but the invoice was a little higher than I was tracking in my figures. Half of that delta the F/I guys said Lincoln will have to send us a check for the price protection since we ordered in January. Not terribly happy with that because I know how it works at least with GM; my Dad recently went through that with GM on a new Corvette, and those dealers who know what they are doing don't make you pay the higher price up front and wait for a refund. Got the Lincoln dealer to take my wife's QX80 on trade and give us the price for it that the selling INFINITI dealer was going to give, so that gave us some nice sales tax savings. Interest rates were a lot higher than I was wanting to go, but I have a nice small credit union that will let me refi at the same rate for up to 4 points lower than my existing rate, with a floor of 1.99% so I took it. And we do love the Roast interior color - highly recommend it! At one point, that was a constraint holding up the production and we could have changed it, but it was never an option in my mind. (I ordered my Land Rover Discovery in a similar color scheme inside and out.) The only other thing that sort of irks me is they put stickers that don't peel off on the Lincoln Play rear entertainment screens - that's a big Chris Carter "Come on, mannn". Charged the 850cca AGM battery (GM doesn't even give you an AGM battery on a new C8 Corvette; cheap bastards!) overnight with my Cetek charger, am going to get Continental Terrain Contact A/T tires at Discount Tire this morning (have some OE Pirellis on CraigsList by this weekend) and get the vehicle tinted all the way around with AutoBahn i3 and a Llumar Air 80 on the windshield. Will ceramic coat the interior myself, and then apply Adam's Advanced Graphene Ceramic myself. Can't wait until it's all done!
  13. I think the online builder is way too dark. I found some pics that I saved that I could swear were supposed to be the black/roast interior. The roast interior is what we ordered on our Navigator in January and that was just built yesterday. At one point, it was on constraint and delayed its production.
  14. This morning the Lincoln website is showing that our Navigator was In Production on Tuesday and Built yesterday. I suspect delivery could be upwards of an entire month or more. Hopefully, we can still get a fair value for my wife's trade. I suspect the dealer wouldn't be sad if we opted out and they could sell the vehicle for MSRP or more to someone else, whereas with the X-Plan pricing and the price protection we're looking at getting the Navigator for just over $8k less than MSRP. Fortunately, it's easier to get a competitive bid (AutoNation, Carvana, GiveMeTheVin, CarMax, etc) and I do have the INFINITI dealer where we originally bought the vehicle from 4 miles away who I know has been really aggressive on price and selling it back to them. At the very least, I'm hoping we can work a three-way trade for sales tax savings.
