That being said the harshness and “bone jarring” ride is mostly a result of rock hard tires …

Not in my case, but I agree with airing up or down appropriate to conditions.

I continue to be impressed with the difference in ride quality from the Fox shocks.  Even the steering is better.  Body roll still exists but seems more predictable & the linear design does give up a little in the really slow rough stuff.

The fact that I no longer hear change, keys or  debris clanging about in the center console is prob the best feedback I can give in terms of daily driving.

  2. fwiw…

Recently upgraded factory shocks to Fox 2.0 at 30k miles.  I have a 7.3 gas F250 without Tremor package (my understanding is Tremor shocks are twin tube & pretty solid).   My goal was to take the edge off the harsh ride.   I’ve never had issue with the truck on highway/interstate & in fact it rides quite well, especially towing.   However, most days I’d rather ride a covered wagon than traverse poor condition country roads.   Frost heaves, bridge joints, speed bumps & washboard dirt roads are brutal.  Bone jarring.  Tooth chattering.  The Hole in the Rock road in Escalante was nearly divorce material.

Bilstein 5100’s are exceptional shocks that I’ve used in the past with great success in 1/2 ton trucks in a towing environment, just not what I was looking for.   Someday I’d love to go full project truck with a Carli type build that improves suspension travel.  Middle ground?

Sourced all four corners for $690 shipped.   No, a 3/4 ton truck will not turn into a 1/2 ton, but this is a significant upgrade.   Bear in mind that ride quality is subjective & we all focus on different attributes.  This application is 100% what I intended by taking the edge off.

Worth the money?   tbd…. useable lifespan is the deciding factor

I feel like my truck isn't whatever plant it came from's best work.

    ugh… so frustrating

I’ve had some minor frustrations with my ‘22.   It’s so difficult to be tolerant/understanding given the financial outlay, especially considering the last few years of “bend me over” price markups (yeah, that’s a dealer thing vs mfg but still a tough pill to swallow.)

I dont have the trailer to measure as I haven't purchased it yet but there is a great deal on a used hitch that Id like to jump on before it gets snatched up.  Anyone???

seems a bit cart before the horse…

Mostly irrelevant, but I opted for a 5” drop on my 22 F250 based on ball height reference points from multiple towables.

    Still looking….

Currently planning on a Carli kit but they’re designed for 37’s.   I’d be more than happy bumping up to 295/70/18 vs 35’s

    Tow & haul regularly…

I def could have worded this more better’er…

I’d happily save $ going 295/70 vs 35” on stock 18” wheels.   The Carli kit makes complete sense in terms of improving suspension travel but is designed around 37” tires on 17” rims.

Leveling achieves nothing more than an aesthetic, surprised there are not more options for functional improvement.

Thank u so much for the reply sir, glad to hear it’s holding up, do u happen to run full synthetic or do u know if it’s safe to run full synthetic motor oil?

Pro tip… removing the shrink wrap from the owners manual is eye opening.

    Also, buy now ask later??

It sounds like it had an “oh crap” moment!

    I certainly did…

Haven’t been around to follow up on this.  Sketchy as hell, but I did not run into it again after logging another couple thousand miles.   Reading up on the pedal monster definitely correlates to the lack of throttle response I experienced.   It’s a real issue to me;  not every driving scenario is effectively resolved via braking or AI.

We’ve landed back in New England & am thoroughly enjoying the dramatically improved country road mpg.  Also surprising how many gassers I’ve come across in the area.   And is anyone else annoyed with Apple Wireless CarPlay connectivity issues?   I should also share the atrocious cross country towing mpg.   And what about ride quality…

Random thoughts that should prob be other posts

  8. My truck does not have the same camera package, however that same message appears in the default backup camera view at the bottom of the screen.

Maybe there is a glitch in regards to it appearing in the center of your screen, but….  I would bank heavily that it appears on purpose as a result of engineers & lawyers.   It’s the same concept as 75% of your SYNC infotainment being unavailable while the vehicle is in motion.

  9. Currently driving across the country & had an extremely unsettling experience yesterday.  I am towing an enclosed cargo trailer that weighs 5-6K.  This is a 2022 7.3 truck in tow/haul mode.

After fueling up, I had to merge onto a busy two lane highway.  Both the highway & on-ramp were solid uphill grades.   There were two vehicles ahead of me also attempting to merge onto the highway.   I swear I am a magnet to horrible drivers, so let the stupidity commence.   Both cars hit the brakes & clearly panicked about merging into oncoming traffic.   Here’s where the fun starts…

Just as I was hitting speed I was forced to slam the brakes in response to the idiots in from of me.   After a couple second delay, I smashed the pedal to try & rebound as a saw an oncoming semi quickly approaching.  Nothing happened!!  No response.  I floated for what seemed a few seconds & then the rpm went sky high but zero upshifting.  WTF!!  I veered off the side of the highway to not get run over.  Shifted to neutral & back to drive while coasting at maybe 30mph didn’t help.  Basically had to let the rpm’s wind down & luckily it eventually caught back up.

    What the hell happened???

You don’t select ok on the screen.  You hit the ok button on the steering wheel.

The concern/confusion for me is that this prompt does not respond similar to anything else.   Every other message screen such as blind spot, trailer disconnected, etc. immediately disappears when you press the ok button on the steering wheel.  That does not happen for the alarm settings.  The OK button will toggle your alarm choice setting to blue indicating you’ve selected it, but that is all.   I can hit OK once or ten more times & the alarm screen prompt remains… it just times out on its own before closing.

The system resets on the next key cycle.

After some more reading that seems to be the case.   Is what it is, I guess… although the logic is lost on me.

     'Set Perimeter Only' and 'OK'.

This makes me think that something is still not functioning correctly.  I am not able to move to or toggle the “ok” button as shown below (it is always greyed out),  so am I ever really selecting anything?

  12. The dog is often touching off the alarm when she jumps from back seat to front.  Seems straight forward to disable the interior motion sensors & choose “perimeter only” via the alarm settings, but…. does Ford expect me to go through this on every trip?  Every time I get back in the truck, the setting change does not seem to have been saved.  I realize I can also choose to prompt on exit, but I find that to be equally annoying to have to think about every trip.

    Am I missing something?  thanks

  13. Disclaimer... I very much remember being pelted with Abba & The Bee Gees via 8-track as an impressionable youth.  God bless El Camino's

[F*ck, really?   Wow... I guess I am, uh... sh*t... the grey hair makes sense, now... G*damn kids get off my lawn!]

Seriously, I was kinda floored (5 years ago)  that my '14 F150 still had a mini frisbee slot
