  1. Yawn. I was there, I saw people reading books while assembling engines. A lot of the jobs on the engine line are pretty simple, couple that with the long cycle time on the Jag line (at least at that time) and there were jobs you COULD do without looking.

Who are you accusing me of being un-loyal to? The company, or the union that has nothing better to do than back up the do-nothings and the screw-ups?

I worked with people that were so damn stoned they couldn't stand up. I worked with people that claimed to be unable to do jobs to get out of them.

Damn right I'm unloyal to those people. I've been a small business owner for 3-1/2 years now, I was a manager before that. I understand how devestating it is to a business to be FORCED to retain help that brings "negative" value into the shop.

You wanna tell me I have no credibility? Come by my place, I'll show you the letter of recommendation my FORD foreman wrote for me after I was laid off.

Yawn, Ya right. You got a good letter of recomonadation because they didnt want you back. Why would you need that letter anyway if you own your own business. Later dude

  2. No I don't work at Ford anymore and my gate badge was deactivated on 9/11 so I can no longer enter the plants. And I have to admit I prefered the foundry to the engine plant. My family worked in the foundry since they put the afternoon shift on in 1953.

I understand the theory of how the flex line was supposed to work, whether or not that theory was implemented I don't know.

I call absolute BS on Jag being a "higher quality" line. Same workers, same parts, just longer cycle times. And like I said, workers not even looking at the engines.

If you understood the theory of how a flex line works you would not have said more manpower and less automation. It amazes me how former employees paint a picture of lazy employees after they leave the Company. Same workers? BS Same parts? BS Workers not even looking at engines? Oh, I see the engines put themselves together. Maybe thats why you left. You didnt do anything. If your Family worked there since 1953 you seem to be the un-loyal Family Member that has to Paint a picture of low quality so that some knucklehead might read your BS and maybe beleive it. If you dont work at Ford, don't knock it. You have no credibility.

  3. They said the same thing about the Jag line in CEP2. I watched girls on the line reading books and never even looked at the engines. IMO any time longer than the normal time needed to do the job does NOT improve quality. The workers simply go "idle" in the down time.

What I understand about the new "flex" lines is there is more manpower and less automation so that vastly different engines can be run with less downtime.

Do you still work at Ford? If so, take a walk over to plant 1 . You totally lack the understanding of how a flex line works. More Manpower? ha The jag line does run a lot slower but they they also produce high quality engines. But both the RFF and Jag lines are older technology lines compared with the line they make now such as the one in Plant 1. That does not mean that they do not meet the high quality standard.

  4. What engine plant is only running 90 jph?

When I worked at CEP2 on Duratec we were on 18 second cycle times, which was 200 jph. Jag / DEW side ran slower, made me sleepy......

You are comparing the old technology lines compared to the new no fault forward flex lines that are running in CEP 1 and Lima. They dont run that fast but are a hell of a lot better with quality and accuracy. I think Lima is also at 90jph. The new way is quality over quantity.

  5. Not to be picky, but.......

    90 JPH X 20 hrs a day = 1800 per day

    1800 per day X 7 days a week = 12,600 engines per week

    52 weeks a year X 12,600 engines per week = 655,200 engines a year

Since you dont wanna be picky I answered "whereswaldo's" question which was--(I dont work in an engine plant but if a plant ran 3 shifts....say 20 hrs/day 5 days a week and 10 on sat and sun...how many engines are possible ?? ) He specifically said 10hrs Saturday and Sunday. So here is the math.

    90JPH x 20 hrs per day = 1800 per day

    1800 per day x 5 days a week = 9000

    10 hrs Sat & Sun = 20 hrs x 90 = 1800

    9000 + 1800 = 10,800 engines per week

    52 weeks a year x 10,800 engines per week = 561,600 engines per year.

By his question he did not say 20 hrs Sat and Sun. He said 10 hrs Saturday and Sunday which is a total of 20 hrs for the 2 days.

I can only assume he meant one 10 hrs shift because you cannot work 3 ten hr shifts in one day on the same line. Therfore, I do not stand corrected. You do.

  6. I dont work in an engine plant but if a plant ran 3 shifts....say 20 hrs/day 5 days a week and 10 on sat and sun...how many engines are possible ??

90 JPH would be pushing it. So, 20 actual working hours per day would give you 1800 engines. if you add the saturday and sunday work at 10 hrs per day that would be roughly 10,800 engines a week. times that by 52 it would come out to 561,000 engines per year. And that would be in a perfect situation. No breakdowns, repairs, holidays, or shutdowns. We all know that no line runs that perfect. Not at ford, gm, toyota, or any other plant in the world. So, no, they could never run a million a year.

  7. The local newspaper (Sun News) has reported per Union officials not to be named that Ford has not and WILL NOT be giving any new work to the Brookpark site. It is their estimation that the site will be on the list for closure in the near future. Not even tax incentives will be enough to keep the site open. Market share does not allow for 2 engine plants and Lima to manufacture the same engine. LIma will be getting new work.

If you are correct, post the article from the Sun News so we can all read it. By 2010, more than 25 percent of all of Ford vehicles will have the 3.5 engine. Is Lima gonna run 3 shifts and produce over 5000 per engines a day? I dont think so!

  8. Plant 1 in Cleveland is to be idle, in which it would put a few hundred people on the stree why the Union just dont fess up to its members is beyond us.. I thought they are all abotu family values.. Good news is haaa. Is CCP will be losing 9 core line, 1mold line and Mact ATTACK project needs more money .. I guess be Thankful we are at least still alive..... more to come ............... :censored::doh:

Why are you starting bullshit false rumors? Cleveland Engine Plant #1 is launching the 3.5 in April. Everything is about complete. But I can see where you would start a rumor like this. You are uneducated and a third grade student can write better than you. You can't put a sentence together that makes any sense let alone your terrible spelling. You are the reason why people should be drug tested. Let's see what you say a month from now when we are running the 3.5 in Plant #1. Your screename clearly suggest that you are bitter about the Union and in these troubled times we need members to stick together and not create animosity. Get a life!

  9. Where do people get their information? The fact is, Cleveland Engine Plant #1 will officially launch the duratec 35 in September. Millions of dollars have been put into our current flex line that currently runs the duratec 30. We will be running as much production as Lima. In the Future, 25 percent of all ford cars will have the Duratec 35 in them. So, rumors about Cleveland are FALSE!

If we all work together, we can be the best in the world!

    Stop the rumors.

  10. Proto type of the new Ford "Restructure"

How they will be built in 10 empty plant--Ford will buy them from junkyards and fill the plants with them. Of course they will be brought in by third world country employees. The gas tank will be placed in the front passenger seat illiminating problems with the earlier designes. This concept will be called the "wayforward" design.

  11. Anyone know what brand new products are developed but haven't been announced yet?

moreover, what potential plant would each go to?

Yes. To be announced this month. The all new Ford "Restructure". It will be built in 10 empty plants.

And also the all new Ford "Way Forward" will be built in these empty plants. This new model goes way forward but has no reverse. It saves gas and manpower.

  12. BON readers might like to know that, contrary to Christian and Jewish myth, axial tilt is the REAL "reason for the season."

For tens of thousands of years---long before western religions were invented---people celebrated what came to be called the winter solstice.

Our earth rotates on an axis that's tilted 22 degrees from vertical, and we divide our planet into two hemispheres: north & south. On December 21st the northern hemisphere is tilted farthest from our sun, and the day is the "shortest;" that is, the least amount of daylight ( the process is just the opposite for the southern hemisphere; this is their summer). Our ancient ancestors noticed this, and thought the sun was "dying." Along about December 25, people noticed the days getting "longer" again; that the sun wasn't "dying." Since the sun is what supports life on earth, ancient people began celebrating the longer days of sunlight. The celebrations included festivals, candle-lightings, decorating "evergreen" trees, and gift exchanges! Many people around the world---in both hemispheres--- celebrate the winter solstice still.

    Happy Winter Solstice!

    :)

You are an idiot! The Birth of Christ was not a myth. It was true. All around the world people celebrate the birth of Christ and they call it "CHRISTMAS". And the Birth of Christ (Christmas) is the reason for the season. So---Merry Christmas, heathen.
