I have a 2005 F-150 5.4L, 2WD, 4800 Miles, used to run @ approx 800 RPM @ city speeds, - approx 1000 @ highway.......since cold snap, last 3 days now runs @ 1700-1900 city, 2200+ highway........still have OD, low , intermediate, and drive.

Any ideas?

The overdrive lockout button is on the end of the shift lever where it can be bumped while shifting from park to drive and the small (O/Doff) light can be missed while driving. But usually a driver will see the light and tap the switch again to engage O/D and it defaults back to normal mode every time the key is cycled off & on.

Suggestion: It's under warranty so take it back to your dealer and discuss it with your service advisor.

Service told me they dropped the pan and valve body, found 2 solenoids sticking. They r&r'ed them, replaced the fluid, Reused the pan gasket?........

The RPM's are still higher, but lower than before in city driving, normal on freeway.............awaiting towing season see what happens then.
