Assuming you have the 24-valve Duratec, 1500 pounds is right at the border of the Taurus towing capacity. If you look in the manual it lists 1300pounds towing with 5 passengers (750pounds), or 1600pounds with 2 passengers (300pounds) and 150pounds of luggage, or 1750pounds with 2 passengers (300 pounds). If you've got the 2-valve Vulcan, you're totally out of luck. And of course these figures assume you've got a proper hitch installed. A Crown Vic would be the exception due to body on frame, rear-wheel drive, and low-end V8 torque. Ergo, it's a four-door truck. Your Taurus is a far cry from this.
