jensen4
I'm ordering a 2008 F-250 CC V10 Lariat this week. I'm going to be towing an 11,000 lb fifth-wheel and need some advice on the gearing. Should I go with the 4.10 LS or the 4.30 LS? Also, will I need the camper pkg. or heavy-duty springs for this?
mach14604
I'm ordering a 2008 F-250 CC V10 Lariat this week. I'm going to be towing an 11,000 lb fifth-wheel and need some advice on the gearing. Should I go with the 4.10 LS or the 4.30 LS? Also, will I need the camper pkg. or heavy-duty springs for this? I have the 4.10 LS with the limited slip and a V-10 2008 F-250 Supercab 4x4 8 foot bed. I tow a landscape trailer and a car hauler at times. I think the 4.10 is way more than enough gear right now. 4.30 I think is way too high. I had a V-10 with 3.73 and it was just not in the right spot when towing. I think the 4.10 is the best gear option but the thing i do not like is the rpm that the truck runs at in high gear towing nothing. I run at almost 2500 rpm's. I kick down a little with the bigger trailer behind me and am hoping to take the rpm down alittle with bigger tires soon. A word to the wise dont get the Continetial tires if driving in snow or mud I have almost gotten stuck twice. Get the heavier springs and camper package. The dealer told me they order most of their trucks with the option. Its a piece of mind. I think even with the springs and camper package it rides beeter than my 2002 F-250. MTSuperCrew
My buddy has a '05 F-350 V10 w/4.10s and he wishes he would have got the 4.30s. Up here at elevation the gas rigs need all the gear you can throw at it.
jd87
3.73's are way too tall for a diesel, I couldn't even imagine trying to pull anything with a V10 and 3.73's. 4.10's are the way to go.
Bronk68
I just ordered one with the 4.30's since I tow quite a bit and hopefully I made the right choice. I did a lot of asking around before I ordered so I think I will be fine.
Tcall
I had 3.73 in f350 did great on MPG and towing, but hard to get started on steep grade, go with 4.
