With a gooseneck enclosed snowmobile trailer, we're loading the rear axle enough that we usually don't need 4x4 as long as both rear tires are doing the work. Also drives better and gets better mileage by staying out of 4x4. In the later parts of winter, the mountain pass will end up with dry spots and icy corners so with a limited slip we don't have to engage 4x4 on every corner and then turn it off til the next corner. The limited slip worked so well that I'm nervous going back to a one-wheel wonder. The last open diff I had, I got stuck on a 12" x 12" patch of ice in the Mc D's drive thru. Had to get out and turn the hubs in so I could move. LOL

I hope that isn't the case, having a limited slip while driving in the snow up mountain passes sure helps and we're usually rolling about 40mph so I couldn't engage the locker at that speed. Might have to yank that electronic locker out and replace it with an old school limited slip.

So is the electronic locking diff a regular limited slip during the time it isn't locked up? Nobody has been able to answer this at the dealership.

My buddy has a '05 F-350 V10 w/4.10s and he wishes he would have got the 4.30s. Up here at elevation the gas rigs need all the gear you can throw at it.

That is about what my Dad's getting with his, maybe a little lower. This 6.4 isn't a 7.3 when it comes to mileage.

My Dad had a sensor in the DPF changed and a software update to the computer and now no more smoke screen plus his mileage has went up.

My Dad's '08 has been doing that for about 6 months now. He had been working with a couple different dealerships about the problem and they didn't have a clue what was going on so he checked out another local dealership and they said it needs a software update and one of the sensors in the DPF needs replacing, supposedly it is out of spec.

The Rapidheat works awesome FYI, usually have some heat by the end of the block on a cold start.

So is the consensus that the 6.4's with 6-speeds are getting better mileage than the autos? 3-4 mpg is enough for me to at least consider a manual.

We got 12.5 mpg towing our 6,000 lb boat to the lake last weekend which is the same as we were getting with the '02 7.3

I wish it was a factory-installed option because we don't have a Line-X dealer here and I don't trust the Rhino Lining dealer to not overspray the side of my new pickup.

Correction, just got the build date of 3/26 yesterday!

I wonder if that is why we haven't got a build date on my Dad's truck but a friend of ours is scheduled for tomorrow even though he ordered after my Dad. Thanks for the info.

I think one of the problems with the 6.0 is that for every un-happy customer that complains on the internet, there are a 1000 happy customers who don't post.

Aluminum diff cover would be nice, that's something I put on all my vehicles anyway.

I think the SLA on the 2WD models is a good idea, especially for the RV pullers who don't truely need 4WD. I've ridden in both the Chevy 4WD and my buddies '05 F-350 4WD and I think the Ford has a better balanced ride. Seems like Chevy has the front too soft.

I sure hope we have the option of a solid front axle, Ford's sales out here in Montana will take a nose dive just like Chevy's did when they went to IFS.

I'm not a fan of the tall side, small window style. If I wanted to feel like I was driving a 300C, I'd get one.

Does anybody know when we'll be able to order an '07?
