Ken F.
Does anyone know how this program is going? Is it still healthy?
Admiral
My friend works for Chrysler and he hasn't heard anything about the Phoenix program in months. I've repeatedly asked him and he says he hasn't heard anything. He's probably lying. I'm dying to know.
waymondospiff
Well, Chrysler desparately needs new V6 engines for two reasons: one, fuel economy standards mean not EVERYTHING can be a Hemi, and two, the current 2.7L & 3.5L are overdue for replacement. Weren't Chrysler & Mercedes sharing the Phoenix development? If so, is it still a MB-Chryco partnership, or did MB divest or keep the program in-house? Quite a few possibilities. But Chrysler certainly needs a better V6 engine. Of course, they could always just start sourcing VQs for their midsizers. hint hint Scott

rmwill
The new plant on Van Horn Road in Trenton, Michigan went up in what seemed like hours. It is clearly a Chrysler priority. Can you tell us any details about the valve train, bottom-end construction, fuel delivery -- anything?
