2006 Escape XLT Broken Hatch

Anybody have any similar issues? All started months ago. One day I could not open my rear hatch. The window would open and you could hear the door lock work, but the hatch would not budge. Squeeze the handle and nothing. After much pulling and squeezing finally it opens. After that the handle always seems to take more effort to open then before. Ok so months later last week same thing happens though this time tried and tried to squeeze and pull and nothing. So off to the dealership. They say it’s the "handle with lock cylinder". So they order it and later in the week the part comes in and they replace it. Well this weekend same thing happens with trying to open the hatch. Though after I fought with it again the hatch came open and it's again hard to work the handle. There are also two new problems now. It rained all weekend and I noticed today the carpet is soaked and the one trim piece that was over the strut to the window has fallen off again. It was dangling there after it went to the dealership the first time and I pushed it back on, but since then it has fallen off again. So now I have 3 problems. I guess it's off to the dealership again another 60 mile round trip. Oh wait make that 120 miles since they will have to order more parts again and again schedule it back another day to install them. :banghead:

Well this morning I had my dealership service appointment. They discovered that the seal that goes around the hatch window is defective and letting water gain access to the inside of the rear hatch. This in turn caused the original lock and handle mechanism to seize and has caused the new one to work harder. Well they lubed the new mechanism up again and it works great. But they had to order a window seal and a trim piece that goes over the window strut. They said it might be a week till they can get one or the other in. The dealership had the lock and handle part the next day. What would cause such a delay I asked? They said some parts come from other locations and can take up to a week to get here. Wish they could put a rush on it since there is water leaking into my rear hatch area. Even though I pulled up the carpet and it’s not really hurting anything now still would be nice not to see water lying inside my car. Not understanding this whole ford part process I walked over to the parts department at the same dealership and ordered an air filter for my mustang. They didn't have it stock, but would have it by this afternoon. Wow an air filter in less then 8 hours, but a week for another part. What gives? So I left the dealership confused about the whole part process and the trust from the service manager that he would call me as soon as the parts arrives and then schedule an appointment for more service. I even told him I could have it there first thing tomorrow, but he said oh maybe next week. He said there was no way of telling when the part could get there. Sounds to me there could be some more planning of service on there part. The first time I came it was the part will be here tomorrow and I had the pick of any time to bring it back. Now it's I will call you when the parts come and then we will see if we can fit you in next week. Am I getting the dealership shaft or what? :finger:

That's way, way better than Honda.

A few years ago, my Honda broke down and I had to have it towed into my local dealership. The first thing the service writer asked me, is if I had made an appointment. When I said 'no' (of course not!), I was told it would be weeks before there was an opening for service. :soapbox:

Well I haven't got a call back yet maybe it will be weeks too till they get me in. It's only a leaky hatchback that is soaking my interior. I would think they would maybe try to rush that apointment since we have got 2 inches of rain in the last week. :censored:
